I think you're making overmuch of the word "chase", I can substitute it for "follow-up" if you wish. I messaged my teacher infrequently to ask a question and would not receive a reply for about two to three weeks on several occasions - often I could see that they had read the messages too. I don't believe that that's an appropriate amount of time to leave a message from a student. At no point did they tell me that they were too busy to reply to messages, or apologise for the delays, in which case I would have understood. — Lou 1 min ago

Well, this is useful. The government decided to quit their job ...
We'd be having elections in March anyways and they're not making those go earlier XD
I guess they really needed a vacation.

@Tinkeringbell XD
our presidential ones are this month
overtime today, beh

5:29 PM
Oof, on a Friday?!
That's the one day a week I always, always finish work on time :P

5:44 PM
:P
well, my new boss said to pick a day to WFH
i choose friday :)
next friday hopefully it goes smoother :D
some urgent data from a DB backup is needed but that same backup is only supported on the latest version of SQL server

Fingers crossed! Fridays for WFH are great though, because it's the day before weekend ;)

exactly :)

6:33 PM
2+ hours and counting on overtime
i'm basically browsing reddit
waiting for a SQL server installation
atleat i'm paid :)

7:12 PM
@CaldeiraG Ah, so you can do slightly fun stuff... that's good!

@Tinkeringbell yea :D

Nice, getting paid to browse Reddit is always good :P While it is somewhat limiting to have to stay around for work, I like those kinds of shifts (if nothing happens :P)

well yea
you're effectively paid to wait for a CPU to function
XD

Niiiice!
The ones I take at work are mostly "We're doing a release this weekend with a data migration, and then a test to see if stuff still works. Standby for if we break things"
Which means I don't even have to watch or anything, just make sure I'm near a PC if I do get a call.

7:39 PM
pretty much what i'm doing
basically, there is a gap in our main DB (just a table, not too concerning) from march - September
there is a backup of it but it was created on the latest version of SQL server (2019 one) which we don't have any machine with it
and you can't import it to a lower version
so it's installing on some pc with 8gb of ram and an i5
it's fun

Sounds fun indeed :P

:P
