I'm so relieved as well, yes. And I gained so much, life quality wise. My new house is a 150yo farm, I'm surrounded by trees and fields. I'm very lucky.
Not that much, but some important stuff still, yes. Like, I'll have to deal with renewing the kitchen pretty soon. I already refreshed the walls' paint/paperwall last week :)
Trees and fields are great :D My mom and dad visited the build site of my new apartment this weekend, and met one of the neighbors... a smoker :( I take fields and trees over the stench of cigarettes any day! :D
Hopefully they won't a) smoke in the apartment and b) clean up their ashtrays often enough for you not to have to bear the dreaded smell of cold tobacco :p
Yeah, on second thought I'm not too happy with that... but the apartment itself is about one kitchen cabinet wider than the two on the corners, which also means my bathroom has an extra 50cm... which means I could get a bathtub instead of shower only... soooo....
It evens out :P
Do you only need to renovate the kitchen, or more?
@Tinkeringbell Me? Mmh, well... bathrooms don't need renovation (thank Cash, those are expensive) ... I think I'm gonna focus on building shelves and closets to store stuff, firstly because I'd like to learn woodwork, and also because I'm trying to get to minimalism and I think this is best done when everything has a special location
(We used to have them when we were younger - parents decided we didn't need them one renovation and they would be useful now that ash is getting older :D )
they still have places to sit in the cafe ? isn't it better to just kick customers out after giving them their order, with a fake smile: _have a nice day_
@CaldeiraG Yeah, I had that obligation too yesterday ... Thankfully I managed to negotiate three more weeks of WFH because I'm regularly helping my 90yo neighbours and I didn't think it was safe to go back to the office. I did well because my offices are shared with about 100 other companies and many people would not respect the protecting measures
@Tinkeringbell True :) btw you have no idea how much fabric I found when packing my things lol
I just hung up the phone with my former ISP. Darn they're pushing you to stay with them. I know it's not their fault, but I'm sad for the people in these calls centers who have to do this every day
I told them though, "I can't stay with you, you don't cover the area I'm moving in!" "but what about 1 month free?" :p
Nah, not struggling... just that during the day I feel I could go put my head on my desk and sleep, while at 10PM I want to do 20 other things but sleep.
Though I do agree with you that the fact that they can keep a hashtag trending like this and give it visibility does illustrate a more disgusting side of social media :|
But I just about threw up this morning when I saw a post on FB from a woman I used to go to church with saying that "all lives matter" and praising Trump for "keeping all americans safe"
also ava, sometimes ISP's have a termination form example available on their website, probably under some pretty small letters so watch out for that :P
@CaldeiraG if you're looking for kinda wholesome content to unwind and if you have a sweet tooth for music I can't help but recommend watching Roomie's videos on Youtube
@Mithical This is, btw, called a controlled burn: Where professional firefighters stop the fire from spreading, in order to save what can actually be saved :)
@avazula Piano is hard, indeed. I used to have a keyboard too (gave it away a few summers back), but I never got the hang of it. I have been thinking about getting actual piano lessons once I have my own place though. Getting back into music would be nice, I think.
So, violin would have the same string sequence as a mandolin (GDAE), I already did flute before that (I think it's called a 'recorder' in English, that's what translate gives?)
That flute is the basic instrument here, most kids learn to play that first when they also learn to read notes. Only if you've passed a certain basic level entry test, are you allowed into group lessons for other musical instruments at 'music schools'
unrelated subject: i realized my free gamepass from my pc order only finishes on september, associating my paypal in the account gave a extra month of game pass :)
@Tinkeringbell Oh me too. My wife is a trained singer (she's been taking private lessons from a broadway voice coach for several years) and she gives me dirty looks when I try to sing :)
@Tinkeringbell back when we did the 6pm deployments, we didn't do it ourselves, but we had to be around in-case it failed because then it was on us to fix it
Ah yeah. That is kinda the thing here too, though I mostly succesfully dodge that XD
I think my first time is going to be somewhere at the end of the month/early July, when they're going to run a script I made as part of a big migration... I should be there then.
Oh, a bunch of my code has gone into production, but they mostly pick senior people for the job. And I'm totally fine with that, this is one thing where I'm not going to ask to learn XD
@Rain hehe :D I used to be much closer but healthcare and CICD don't mix together, at all. It's at such a point that it's written in the ISO that our software development cycle must be waterfall.
@avazula So it matches the hearts in my hometown :/
I don't keep up with many people from my hometown anymore, but it's not a good place and there are far too many people there who either don't care, or actively oppose BLM
