@GregoryAvery-Weir No. The monkey is an example of the thing I wanted to do. I didn't actually want to make a monkey into a silhouette. I wanted to know how to make silhouettes in general, but, I specified it to a specific general case. I even used the default model in blender. Suzanne, the monkey is the general prototype model for any blender demos.

Not quite sure how that would translate over to Interpersonal skills though, hence my meta post "Isolating the problem"

@10Replies Did you mean to reply to Ben I.? I don't think the image makes it specific. I think it is specific because you asked how to do 1) a certain effect 2) using a certain technique 3) without using a certain hack. That seems specific to me.

I still think that it could work . . . just not for all questions. But if @Catija's right, and it makes things more complicated without as much gain, it might not be worth pursuing.

I think tagging questions is with age range is good

I'm not sure I agree with Chad that these would be meta tags, although that would be an interesting conversation to have. I also don't think that all meta tags are bad, though that's counter to SE's stance, I believe. In some cases, they work - and not just for tags like homework.

I was thinking about the meta tag argument when I was writing my answer and after Chad wrote theirs... and I feel that it might be a bit premature to argue the meta tag argument, particularly if we're looking at limiting which questions use the tag or how the tag is used. I'd prefer to use them in the case where you're specifically asking about a group... So, as an example:

So, in that case, you're not classifying yourself, you're defining who you're having to interact with.

That's true. I think that was my original intent behind the proposition - determining the relevant age(s) of the participants of the situation as a whole, not (or not just) the OPs.

To be honest, that's the only one of those answers I've voted on.

One of my favorite parts of meta is attempting to write questions in as neutral a voice as I can just because I think that is how it should be. I don't always succeed but it's amusing when I can write up a query and have people assume I was pro or anti the request and actually be the opposite.

It also avoids the whole awkwardness of wanting to upvote because the discussion needs to be had, but not wanting to upvote because the question is clearly written to support one side, as many are.

Yep. I constantly tell myself, write it in a neutral way so that people vote based on the question quality rather than agreeing with it or not... then let them vote on the answers.
