Q: Girlfriend refuses to allow me to see apartment

FrustratedI (m29) have been dating a girl (f25) for a year. I have seen her apartment previously and spent the night a few times. She for the last few months has been refusing to let me in to her apartment now, stating it is "messy" without any other context. I have attempted to ask her to clean it, offere...

Q: How to avoid unintentionally hurting my girlfriend?

ShaamaanI'm not great with people, especially outside of a more formal professional space. In that regard, I can sometimes be difficult, I guess - I'm way too honest (read: poor brain-mouth filter) and I tend to misjudge or completely ignore potential emotional implications of the things I say. Now, for...

Q: How to decline additional help when friend won't take no for an answer

SamWA friend of mine has a business idea. He asked if I knew how to make (smartphone) apps, and I said yes. I recently graduated and currently have some spare time for a side project and could see this being valuable experience to present in an interview, even if the business doesn't prove to be prof...

"if this were professional work" Not a direct answer, but maybe this is the time point to turn it into professional work. Make a contract of who is responsible for what, and how the income will be split etc. And then both of you have a written statement of what (work, compensation etc) to expect and what not. — Marzipanherz 45 secs ago

This is much better and I removed my downvote. As a side note, here is the link to "How do I write a good answer" (I forgot to link it before). — Noon 1 min ago

Hey Noon, do you still think that's NAA then?

@Tinkeringbell I don't know, I'm not sure what it brings that other answer didn't. But I must admit that I'm in a family meeting right now, so I haven't a lot of time to make sure that the answer is good enough. I think I will let other people be the judge of that or check again later

Okay. Enjoy your family time :)
I was just asking, because you can retract flags too :)

@Shaamaan I don't know but you can still try the chat (but I would wait until Monday if I were you, the chat is mostly empty on weekend). — Noon 1 min ago

@JourneymanGeek If that's a good Sunday for you, I shudder to imagine what a bad one might be.

@El'endiaStarman One where his phone bricks four times, of course :P

That's a very short transition from "good" to "bad".

I thought that JakeGould was telling me that my answer was great, not someone else's :'(

@Noon I hope it's encouragement ;)

@Tinkeringbell I'm always trying my best to write great answers ^^ But it sometimes discouraging to see that your favorite answer, the one where you put all your soul in, only got two upvotes and a not-so-good one get +50 just because it's on an NHQ question :(

It happens

@Noon Let me reprhase that. I was hoping Jake just meant their comment as encouragement for the person that wrote that answer, in reaction to your own comment there :)
But yeah, HNQ can be frustrating ;)

@Tinkeringbell Oh, I hope it's that too but it was still a false hope for me :P
@Tinkeringbell Good to know I'm not the only one being frustrated by that :D

Good night everyone !

I can only think of three interpretations for "Are you going to finish that?" They are "Wow, I've never seen somebody eat something so big -- do you think you'll manage?", "Wow, I've never seen somebody eat something so weird/gross/whatever -- do you think you'll manage?" and "Hurry up, already. I want your leftovers." Since I'm not in the habit of eating unusually large or unusually weird things, pretty much any time somebody asks me "Are you going to finish that?", it's the leftovers thing. It's not literally, outright asking for leftovers, but it's going to be interpreted as that. — David Richerby 1 min ago

Anyone here knows R programming? Since 1 month I could not solve one problem in Sparklyr package in R. I have already posted on stackoverflow.com. I am in desperated need of an answer. My 300 reputation Bounty has also expired. But still not got an answer. If any expert is here then let me know please.
Any help would be appreciated.

6:46 PM
@DDD i do use R but know very little of it, so sorry, I can't help there. :/

DDD
@ElizB, would you like to hear my requirement?

@DDD I probably don't know what to do. I have only done basic statistical functions with it for homework assignments

DDD
@ElizB, Ok, no problem. Tomorrow, I will put this message again here. I hope anybody other would know this.

@DDD Ehh. Asking once is okay. Spamming the room with repeated requests is generally frowned upon. Please don't repost that tomorrow.

DDD
ok, no problem. I just need help so asked

6:54 PM
@DDD i don't think anyone that regularly comes in here knows R except for @scohe001 and even then, they don't know a lot because they haven't used it for a while.
I suggest waiting until scohe sees the ping then they will reply to what you might need help for

DDD
@ElizB, ok, Actually I have 1 billion data in JSON and want to un-nest it and further want to convert into csv. 1 Billion data reading was impossible by all the packages except Sparklyr in R. It read the data within few minutes. That is wondering job. But further unnesting it and csv conversion required

okay

DDD
@ElizB, okay, I will ask to Scohe. Not repeatedly here. But hope he has account on stackoverflow.com

@DDD okay, sounds good.

DDD
@ElizB, thanks for suggesting his name.

7:02 PM
no problem. the only way i knew was that scohe helped me a little bit with homework but scohe said they didnt know a lot

DDD
@ElizB, hmm, ok
@ElizB, It is critical issue already. People on stackoverflow could not solve it. But will try

okay
