4:00 PM
I don't have and will never have their phone numbers

@Catija the vetrans administration hospitals have arcane rules that make little sense

all they can do is all they can do
they got me this MRI
which I will miss if I can't get an ID in less than 4 hours
even a non-driving ID may take longer than that

There's a 'may' in there though, can you try, and express to the people you encounter the need for urgency?

Yeah, George

George?

4:02 PM
he's meeting me in 1.5 hours to try to get a state ID

since I can't get a driver's license anyway (eyes), we MAY be able to get a state ID

Next question. Do they accept things like credit cards as a form of ID? I've seen some places that do.

Nope

You don't happen to have a student ID or anything floating around, do you?

4:04 PM
@TheTinyMan they are STICKLERS for regs

no
the only other picture ID I have is being held hostage by someone who is worried about stupid crap while the MRI is being threatened
No MRI? No diagnosis
no diagnosis
no case

Yeah :-(

I can buzz people in now, and can pay off the fares that I owe yellow cab (John) in that time if George and I can skip the DMV
the DMV (department of motor vehicles) is far away and notoriously slow
And it may be for naught if they won't accept what I've got for ID
No diagnosis is what caused the 6 years of agony that almost killed me.
John thought I was acting like mom and using drugs the whole time I was actually at the domiciliary. I've never used the drugs (meth) she apparently had been on for years
She also had a major coke problem.

Geez. 6 years? :-(

Yes, the Chickaloon years
I almost died

4:12 PM
Chickaloon?

I was very, very close
I've said I would never have pain like that without a light at the end of the tunnel ever again.
Well, guess what?

Back to the pain? :-(

If I break my ankle again without the MRI
The ankle is the same one that has spontaneously broken twice
leading to my going down the rabbit hole with rumi
The last break was massively painfu
it happened when I was justt getting something out of the fridge
no reason
The only other thing that is known to cause that has been ruled out

That sounds awful
So what do you think you have?

4:18 PM
looks that up Gah, that's no fun at all. But I hope you can get it resolved. Starting with that MRI of course. :-(

Wiothout the MRI, everything else is moot
And I do mean everything

Yeah. :-( You need a solid diagnosis before the kind of treatment you need can begin.

I waited 1.5 years after diagnosis for my first hip replacement
they could only do 1 at a time
but at least they did it
medicare would have been worse
I have the MRI today, appt with ortho (with the MRI) on Dec 5
I don't care about anything else but those 2 appts, and the game playing about my smoking (wich I am not) is risking everything and hurting George too.
And further complicating everything is that I can't talk to John until I can pay for pizza with cash
So that's my best bet, but risky as hell
because he might not pick up the phone. He's a night owl
A new ATM card would allow me to get enough cash to pay the fare that having not paid is keeping John from helping me.

4:36 PM
Man. So you left your whole wallet behind in the cab?

And my Kindle
And my driver's license
And John thinks I'm on meth and coke because my mom was at 50

If you had that stuff would you be able to settle everything up?

I am not
@TheTinyMan yep

And you can't call the cab company to tell them "hey, here's how you can get your money?" O.O

@Tinkeringbell I'm fine with that. Thanks for stepping up, @AJ.

4:38 PM

The driver that has my stuff has the very last of my change.
I'd have never called the cab if I though I'd be $1 short
but I was
Everythinh that had transpired in the few hours prior (including a way too long walk which I only did because it was too cold to stang still)

So you wouldn't be able to settle the cab fare if you had your wallet?

Yes, I could

(Sorry if my reading comprehension is failing us here)

with my ATM card

4:41 PM
So I don't understand, couldn't you call the cab company and explain the situation? Surely they'd want to get paid.

Yes
they have one way to make that happen
john has to agree

Ohhhhh

and john sleeps all day
so, no MRI

Long shot, but: is there a roommate or neighbor who could pound on his door for you? :-p

Not a number that I have

A J
4:44 PM
@HDE226868 Thank you. :) @Mithrandir

Gah, it seems like there has to be a simple solution here but I am not seeing it! D:

The simple solution is for me to get my ID back

A simple, do-able, and high-chance-of-success solution I mean. :-p

tell me what that is and i'll do it
More games through my speakers?

Yeah...like I said, I'm not seeing it. :-(
Can you pay for a different transportation service like Lyft to drive you to his door so you can pound on it? :-p
(using PayPal or something)

4:47 PM
We don't HAVE lift
only cabs
which are mobbed up

I imagine that public transit like busses are also not viable there? :-(

not without walking too hard and far like I did yesterday
I see the CL

CL?

I don't know what that means
the thumtack

Are you talking about emoticons I'm typing out?
The :-P or :-( or something?

A J
4:51 PM
@Jolenealaska Cliff Lee?

no, im talking to thumbtacktheif
the note CL is by where the thumtack was

A J
ohh
You reached there?

I'm not sure that the fact I am half blind is being realized here by people who I thought were my friends
I can reach my height
I can't use a ladder or step on a chair
the CL note was at my height

A J
I meant you reached at the hospital?

what??
my MRI is today at the Air Force hospital
George can't even bring me there
I have to go to the va, who take me to the gate to the Air Force hospital

A J
4:57 PM
ohh

With enough time I can maybe replace my va (military) ID at the va
but I need a state ID too sometimes

But you need to focus on the most important thing... getting to your appointment. Don't worry about the state ID until that's done.

the sate ID is required (sometimes) to get on the Air Force base
So, I might still miss the MRI

You still have to try.

Sounds like she's going to, but she has an hour and a half to hurry up and wait before she can, in the meantime stressing out about all the things that would almost fall into place, if just one of the problems went away. :-(

5:00 PM
Well,. hopefully the VA can help once I get there. I don't know that they can witho8ut my wallet

Is that right, @Jolenealaska?

yes
And I can't see the video and this room at the same time, btw
no kindle
john has that now too
You guys are way too hung up about the non-issues (what I may need or want after the MRI) I only care about the MRI at this point
And the games are risking that

I feel like I'm only seeing your half of another conversation you're in, @Jolenealaska?

I can't access Dropbox from where I am now :-(

5:11 PM
BTW, the immune issue I have is due to the tysabri
not HIV
of course not

5:35 PM
That needs some flags!

@Tinkeringbell It's gone now
Also, that's gross

I don't agree with the closure of that question as too broad but still a thinly veiled spanish inquisition like insult to moderators is so far it can't even see the line anymore

@Magisch trash it from here too :)
Please? I’m on mobile
Ah good

someone already did

5:41 PM
I’m guessing smurf :P

looks up innocently

Then I’ll be going again. Meeting:)

:/

meeting?
its almost 7pm, you still at work?

@JarkoDubbeldam speeches at just done. Now FOOD!

2 hours later…
7:37 PM
So I notice that we have two Mithrandirs here, @Mithrandir24601 and @Mithrandir! Any relation, beyond a love of Tolkien lore?

Nope
But it's astounding how frequently that question gets posed

I hope it's not too annoying :-)

Nah.

7:53 PM
Sounds like I'd better get that prior art in sooner rather than later!

8:13 PM
Should we all just change our names to "Bruce" to eliminate the confusion?

Yay, I survived :)
@TheSnarkKnight Never....

@Tinkeringbell not a Monty Python fan then, eh?

@TheSnarkKnight I'm a GIRL.... no way I'm gonna call myself Bruce...
If you can think of something more girly, that would be appreciated :)

@Tinkeringbell It's from an old comedy sketch "bruce, bruce, bruce, bruce and bruce"

@TheSnarkKnight Hahaha :)

8:17 PM
@Tinkeringbell one of them is NOT named bruce and someone says "can we just call you bruce and eliminate all the confusion

@TheSnarkKnight Oh that actually makes sense.... BUT I'm still never ever going to allow that :P
I won't even allow people to pronounce my real name wrong :P

@Tinkeringbell me? Making sense? I wonder if I've taken all my meds

@TheSnarkKnight It's probably the white wine I had with dinner :P

@Tinkeringbell well that's a relief.

@TheSnarkKnight :D .... I had an entire night of managers to survive ...

8:30 PM
night shift?
or partay?

@JarkoDubbeldam Not really a party, more of a unit meeting... So lot's of managers, some footfolk... talks from 5 till 7 and dinner afterwards.
You're supposed to mingle then ..

D:
sounds.... fun

Apparently I'm good at it, I'm always ending up talking to 2 or 3 managers.... While my co-workers are at the bar having fun :/
Anyways.... it's good if I want to get promoted soon, and most of em do have some sort of interesting stories to tell once you get them off of discussing work :)

@Tinkeringbell Do you though?
Do you want to be promoted?

@Magisch One more level yes. That means I'm not on management level, but I can get a higher loan for buying a house
After that, I'm done.

Q: How to deal with inconsiderate people in the gym

Mike HawkYesterday I was doing deadlifts at the gym. Just as I was finishing up my set, I noticed a gym employee standing in front of me and giving me an angry look. He asked me to make less noise during my sets. I calmly explained to him what a deadlift is, and that you can't just put 135 pounds down q...

@Tinkeringbell Already got it all planned out, eh?

@Magisch Hey, those are the easy things in life :)

I still have 0 clue what I want to do later on
in 2 months I'll be done with my apprenticeship, then I'll have to find out

@Magisch Don't worry, you'll figure it out eventually. I started by studying archaeology, ended up in retail for 2 years and then decided to go software developer.
And if I ever get the urge to do something else with my life again, I'll plan it so it becomes realistic and do it :)
@ExtrovertedMainMan That one can be closed safely
The edit really helped :D (not).... pfft.

I'm so lucky that I knew that I wanted to be a programmer from the age of about six. xD My dad successfully got me into it by buying me some BASIC books about making your own tiny little games and stuff.
It's a shame that he never went for a career doing that himself. I feel like a (now retired) chemical plant worker who uses Linux at home because he prefers it to Windows is underemployed.

8:43 PM
@TheTinyMan Hah.... my eldest brother knew from age 4 that he wanted to be a zookeeper. Tomorrow will be his first day :)

@Tinkeringbell Nice! Congratulations to him, that's a really competitive field!

I've got absolutely no idea what I'm going to do :D

I just did what I thought was fun ;) I was always interested in old things though. We couldn't go on holiday without me wanting to visit every cathedral (still do, I like the vibe and architectural marvels)
@Mithrandir You've got at least 10 years to decide :P
Your brain won't be fully mature before that time anyway.
But, I also always liked taking things apart and knowing how they worked.... and languages and geography and fossils and coins and beaches and sand and sometimes travel and pokemon and nerdy stuff (secretly :P)

Well, at the moment there's kinda a mandatory draft, so I might be going into the army for a few years after I turn 18... although maybe not. My brother got an exemption, maybe I will too.

@Mithrandir If you can, get it.

8:46 PM
Yeah, @Tinkeringbell...I have a bunch of interests that I'm pretty passionate about. Computers are the most profitable and easiest to engage with. And least pressure-ful, I'm not sure that I'd've made it as a therapist. xD

(I'm not a big fan of mandatory drafts, and if I recall correctly there's a pretty big chance you'll actually have to fight)
@TheTinyMan Hah.... if @TheSnarkKnight comes around, we both wouldn't have survived that longer than 5 minutes :P
A friend of mine tried to get in that profession. But you have soooo much self-examination to do before you can even get in, it sorta drove her crazy

Even if I went in, they won't let me anywhere near combat, I'm sure :D

Now she's married with 2 kids.

@Tinkeringbell Very true. xD

My medical profile is way too low for combat.

8:47 PM
@Mithrandir, where are you located? If I'm not being too nosy of course.

@Mithrandir That would be a good thing :)

I'm located in the Middle East
As a hint, I speak עברית

@Mithrandir Gotcha. Yeah...I'll bet that the word 'military' is even scarier over there than it is where I'm from.
I don't recognize those characters. They almost look like Japanese katakana to me xD

@Tinkeringbell I'm all for no draft at all, personally. If it's a bad war, nobody will sign up.

(actually they look a LOT like Japanese katakana to me, though my kana is reeeeally rusty)

8:50 PM
There are less skirmishes than people tend to think, IME

That's good to hear.

I mean... it's not like we're at open war with anyone.

@apaul I saw you butting in here and silently leave. I haven't seen you talk a lot lately. Just a check-up: are you okay?

Is your particular country at not-quite-open-but-almost war with anyone? :-P

@Mithrandir we are at war with everybody and everything. We have a war on drugs a war on poverty a war on terror. Given our government's performance (losing) in these wars, we should have a war on jobs and prosperity.

8:52 PM
@Mithrandir True, but anyways...my useless advice: weasel out of it if you can ;-)

@TheSnarkKnight Wait, did the US acquire ALL of the Middle East when I wasn't looking? O.O

@TheTinyMan Only the parts with oil :P

Er. Was that an offensive joke, @Mithrandir? I feel like I shouldn't have said that.

@TheTinyMan mmmm
@TheTinyMan nah, you're fine

@Mithrandir Okay, cool. :-)

8:54 PM
I mean, we're technically at war with Syria but they've got their own problems

@Mithrandir Wow, that didn't narrow down where you are as much as I'd expected it to xD

Heh.

Hmmm... we don't yet have a meta stating that questions that are asking 'how can I make X apologize' are off-topic, have we?
> If the "help me get X to do Y" question is on-topic (even if somewhat inflammatory) and the OP doesn't want to change it, then we shouldn't change the title to something that isn't what the OP really wants

@Tinkeringbell ya, I'm ok. Just fighting a cold, feeling run down and tired.

This is the best consensus I could find, it's here: interpersonal.meta.stackexchange.com/a/2187/1599
@apaul Ah, not good :( Take a shot of whiskey and back to bed! :D
(How many useless home remedies against the common cold do you want to hear? I've got a pretty extensive list :D )

9:03 PM
@Tinkeringbell would if I could, but I'm stuck at work. I've got some soup waiting for me at home.

The one I'm currently working with is 'take a shower and go to bed' :P

Ugh.... :/ Good luck then! Hope you survive the day unscathed :D

@apaul feel better!

@Tinkeringbell just tryin to run out the clock. I'll be ok.
@Mithrandir thanks

9:57 PM
That awkward moment when I get to a great stopping point at work 30 minutes before I should probably leave.

Eh, I'm sure you have something to do ... it's the last of the month... timesheet?

I'll find ways to occupy my time. :-) Last time this happened I wrote an e-mail that wouldn't be applicable for a week, then when the time came I had it pre-written! xD
