What's especially irksome about all the garbage reviews (6 garbage close reviews in the past 3 days) is that the same user is already getting the largest fraction of the site reviews, and doesn't need to cheat to boost numbers...

Q: Short story about a boy living on a flooded Earth, with aliens that are helping clean up the climate damage in a deal with the government

Ilya TchivilevI'm trying to identify a story that had appeared in a compendium of Sci-Fi short stories - it was set on Earth, post climate catastrophe, with massive sea level rise. It was about a teenager who was hopping island to island, who gets into some trouble finding something and is then pursued by som...

Q: Vintage Cartoon - Dinosaur Cave River

user186884I am trying to identify a cartoon I saw many years ago, where a group of people are rafting down a river in a prehistoric cave. There were dinosaurs on the shore. If I remember right, the river eventually turns into rapids. I don't believe this was Valley of the Dinosaurs or anything from Hanna-B...

All to get that number up! For what reason? No clue. I get the number itself is meaningless, but I had thought the review queues were a special place where people actually cared about the curation of the site. Not just about boosting a useless stat

Q: A novel (and a movie) about a village in southern France where a strange succession of events happens

AlfredI read this book many decades ago, in French original. A few years later, I saw the movie (most probably with the same title) that was made about it, also in French. I'm positive the author is French and originates from Southern France. The action is in a small village in southern France, many de...

Q: Why did the Númenórean dissenters associate Míriel's use of a palantír with darkness or evil?

galacticninjaIn The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power S02E03 "The Eagle and the Sceptre," some Númenóreans oppose Míriel's ascension to the throne, considering her use of a palantír as "dark magic" and "Elf sorcery." This reaction puzzles me, given the Elves' reputation for opposing Morgoth, the embodimen...

Q: Manhwa/manhua where the main character has an identity sign-in system

RaymisI read this manhwa/manhua a long time ago and don't remember many details. Here is what I remember: The main character (MC) has a career/identity change system on Earth, in modern times, and the system gave the MC an identity/career of an alien who is tasked to save his alien world. That's all I ...

Q: Video about princess interacting with dinosaurs and a blob creature living with family

Conan HighwoodsSo I remember seeing and hearing about this video that was VHS originally but was uploaded to YouTube. It had I think 3 stories in it, but I only remember 2 of them. It was narrated by an older woman/older sounding woman. Forgot her name. The 1st was about this princess that I think went back in ...

Q: Science Fiction Books that have used the tree of life in a meaningful way

Rohit GuptaThe only SF books I have read that use the Tree of Life is Larry Niven's, involving Pak. I was wondering if there are any other SF books that have used the Tree of Life in a meaningful way.

Q: B&W sci-fi horror movie from the 2000s, Eastern European, the setting is underground, in a mine I think

DormanBordenIt's NOT "The Superdeep", but it's similar. There's a plant based life form killing people underground in a mining or military facility. The production is very dark and gritty, seemed fairly low budget. I think the language is Russian. I watched it around 2016 I think, and it was made in the 2000s.
