Tons of people across the site lost reputation yesterday. I lost a measly 20, but others lost more than 10k rep. Poor Valorum's back down to 660k (the ignominy!), and a lot of other users have seen similar plummets in their rep-score.
What's confusing me is why it says 'Serial Voting Reversed'. T...
@ClaraDiazSanchez Don't trust it. They probably just tried to use ChatGPT to determine which votes were legitimate, since they seem to be convinced that it is already capable of anything.
I recall reading a book frequently in the late-80s or early-90s in which a group of kids are taken around the galaxy by a friendly robot/rocket, but cannot remember the name and would love to find the book for my son. I distinctly remember learning that the Horsehead Nebula exists because of a pi...
@Adamant I did notice a few times earlier in the year that the monthly voter's tab was headed by a user I'd not really heard of, by a significant margin over other active users. That user is now no longer there.
Heh. My monthly rank on the reputation board has dropped by 3548 places. :D
In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), America Chavez and Doctor Strange landed on Earth-838 by traveling through
the multiverse. On their way to find the other Doctor Strange, they met
838 Mordo:
838 MORDO: Come in, and tell me everything about your universe.
Dr Strange: You go ...
At a wedding scene in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), Dr. West sits beside Dr. Strange and mentions not seeing him
for a while. Dr. Strange replies that he was affected by Thanos’ snap. Dr. West
shares that he lost his cats and brother while he was gone. Dr. Strange expresses

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), Dr Strange landed on Earth 838 and Illuminati revealed they killed Dr Strange:
Dr Strange: The statue...What about the statue? You built a statue.
Captain Carter: The world needs heroes. We made the difficult choice
because we knew what our ...
@Randal'Thor am I correct in understanding that voting a lot for whatever reasons isn't a problem in itself, but it is when upvoting a specific user / group of users not based on the contents or quality of their posts, but rather just to provide them with more rep?
Unfortunately, it means that @LogicDictates has dropped below 100k rep again.
We're waiting for a CM to answer that meta post. In the meantime, let me apologise to those who lost significant rep through no fault of their own, and reassure everyone worrying about the meaning of "serial voting" that, if you haven't received a mod message, you're not suspected of any inappropriate behaviour. It's one of those unfortunate cases where a lot of people who did nothing wrong are suffering negative consequences (i.e. rep loss).
How did the first order get so powerful and the senate didn’t do anything or notice. Why did the rebel alliance know but no one else? Why didn’t they bring the matter to the senate
About 8 years ago I read a book whose protagonist was an only child to a very poor but loving family. I think the setting was semimodern, as the boy went to school and had school supplies like notebooks, but there was also a "kingdom and monarchs and servants" type section near the end. I read th...
Within the last couple of years I watched a movie where some people realize that an invading alien spaceship had crashed in some place like Russia or Siberia, where it's icy most of the time. The only reason the invasion didn't proceed was because the alien ship and alien were frozen.
A group of...

@Randal'Thor FWIW, they answered. TL;DR, they found a pattern of upvoting without regard to the actual quality of the question, apparently aided by an SF&F mod who noted a suspicious pattern.
@SQB As far as I know, yes - I haven't checked if the user was also active on other SE sites, but it's not a big network-wide thing like some other similar vote reversals have been.
I recall an Asimov short story from the 1950s or before, in which a reporter character hides a mini-typewriter in a pocket, so he can surreptitiously type notes during an interview. It's a great example of a bad prediction of new technology, since Asimov didn't postulate a miniature wire or tape ...
In the first episode of Warehouse 13, Paracelsus uses H.G. wells's time machine, and by connecting several artefacts to it, he can actually travel through time, rather than just send his conciousness. In a close-up of the time machine, a coil looking suspiciously similar to the flux capacitor fro...
I have a vague memory of astronaut Johanssen having brought heroin on board as her 'preferred method' of suicide... but haven't been able to find this described in the book. Any help greatly appreciated!
I can't think of the name of this movie but I can remember scenes of this robotic alien figure in what looked like a biker helmet that's unstoppable and hunting down certain people. It has a thin transparent spike come out of its arm while in the backseat of a vehicle and goes through the front s...
