Will it throw off the flow if the Akata series is read out of order? I’ve read Akata Witch already and bought Akata Woman, but have yet to read Akata Warrior.
Really looking forward to devouring another Nnedi book!
Do the Kollidorians of "One-Way Journey" possess psychic powers?
Looking at this translated summary of "One-Way Journey", it says that of a Kollidorian woman, "Thetona" and her first interaction with Falk:
Thetona psychically replaced the absent mother.
Is that translation accurate, which would...
I am trying to find a short story whose title and author I forget.
The story is written in English and it is about a newly-wed (or soon-to-be-wed) man who scams his wife/fiancée out of her money (or some other asset) by escaping with it on a bus. Basically, the story starts with the couple gettin...
Anyone know the manga where this female time travels wakes up in a coffin with family around, she finds out she doesn't have this bracelet but later on sees it on this prince or someone related to that status..
ok near the end. An elderly booth attendent asks the star for a rock which he does not have. The man obtains a discarded.ticket to survive along with others laying down.

I recall reading this story post-2000, but I can't pin it down closer than that. I'm fairly sure it was in a collection, but I don't remember any of the other stories in the collection, or any of the authors (which suggests that they were mid-list authors). This particular story took place in New...
In Doctor Strange, Stephen Strange learns magic after seeking to fix his hands. When he is training, there are large numbers of people training alongside him, as seen below.
In the video below from Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness, America Chavez is learning magic. IMO, this implies ...
@DavidW Do you have a copy of Crosstime Traffic. I'd managed to work out the story was Storm Trooper from searching Google Books, but I wasn't able to find a copy online to verify it.
In a piece of the script from Spider-Man: No Way Home, it explains how Wong becomes Sorcerer Supreme, since Doctor Strange blipped. However, I don't think it is explained why Doctor Strange becomes Sorcerer Supreme, after The Ancient One dies; he was only a student for (around) a year, when other...
In this case I knew I'd read it in Asimov's and the Pulp Magazine Archive is now organized by title, so I could search "New York" "Internal Security" within just Asimov's and get an immediate hit.
In chapter II, "Roast Mutton", the group camps in the wild during a rainy evening.
...So far they had not camped before on this journey, and though they knew they would soon have to camp regularly when they were in the Misty Mountains and far from the lands of respectable people, it seemed a bad...
I don't think I've read the story. I suspect I was misremembering the Holdstock book "Where Time Winds Blow" and in searching for that I found the Asimov's issue it was in by chance.
Not only is Ackermanthology not there, the relevant issue of Perry Rhodan (no. 107) isn't available either. (Though a fair number of the earlier ones are, interestingly.)
My issue with buying books isn't so much the expense of it, my problem is where to put them all. :) I have several cubic metres of books in storage, and that's not convenient.
It seems that even in thoughts and prayers, poor Sam is thought of as "lesser than" Frodo, if even included whatsoever:
All now took leave of the Lord of the City and went to rest while they still could. Outside there was a starless blackness as Gandalf, with Pippin beside him bearing a small to...
Book was read in mid-'90s. Female main character was on a mission in space; she was either the pilot or gunner. She sings (unconsciously) under her breath in high stress/battles. Battle with pirates/aliens had the whole crew killed but her. She is sent back to Earth and on leave or discharged.
Pi...
I vividly remember the plot of a show which I think I might have watched long ago but have completely forgotten its name or where and when I watched it. It involves a nerdy character who is a failure in real life. But he is able to clone his collegues and make them into video game characters in w...

At the Eternity gate there are a few statues lining the chamber. I assume there are all known Marvel characters. Who were all the ones we saw?
(no images yet, I guess wait for the streaming release)
I'm looking for the title of a fantasy novel I started reading but never finished. I would have read it in the late 90's/early 00's and I checked out of a library in the UK. Here a the plot details I remember:
The setting was a series of islands that floated in the sky on which were built various...
I know pico is right under nano and sci fi is proliferated by nanotechnology but very few sci-fi stories feature picotech. I would someday like to use it so I was wondering what it could do (theoretically) based on sci-fi works and nature of objects at that size. Pico usually refers to smaller th...
I read a fan fiction awhile ago were the dursley abandon blind harry and snape finds him, and eventually finds he is a potter (the potters are alive btw and had left him at the dursleys) and snape adopts him. Also voldemort knows about it and was fine with the adoption.
Harry is also friends with...
Looking for the name (or website) of a chapter (or short story) that I saw on-line only a few years ago (c. 2014 to 2019), but cannot find any trace of. Might have been on io9 in an article on new sf/horror stories, but maybe not. Anyway…it fascinated me but was too horrific (body horror, claustr...
