Q: How does the TVA correct the timeline by pruning people? Would that not have the opposite outcome?

BrandonDisclaimer* I loved Loki and all of the MCU to date, this is just something I noticed. I feel like this is a major plot hole in the idea of time travel in the MCU and how they went about it. In Loki, you learn the TVA is controlling the timeline to make sure the events happen the exact same way a...

In the jungle, they get found by people from some long lost city. City ruled by a young queen, who becomes sort of girlfriend with 1 of the boys To...

Q: How is The Culture's universe populated by humans if current human culture on earth exists contemporaneously with it?

jwezorekDoes Iain M. Banks explain anywhere how in the world of the culture the galaxy came to be populated by humans and humanoid races given that it can't be that the human race became a space-faring civilization and populated the galaxy long before the time of the Culture novels. This can't be the cas...

Q: Why are Mutants generally blue if they have a non-normal color?

Peter NielsenIn the X-Men film series. (at least), most mutants (if not all) that have abnormal color as part of their mutation are blue. For example Beast grows blue hair, Mystique has blue skin in her "natural" form, The Incredible Nightcrawler has blue skin, etc. Is it intentional that they all have blue? ...

Q: Can you see your own questions or answers in a review queue?

Peter NielsenBasically what the title says. Is it possible to see your own posts in a review queue? Of course it's bad practice at the very least to review your own posts or whatever. However I'm trying to figure out if an edit went through and I can't tell if it did or not.

Q: Which characters, canonically, can stop Mjölnir in the MCU?

Peter NielsenIn Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Hela is able to destroy Thor's hammer. However, she is first able to stop the hammer when it is thrown. Are there other characters who are able to stop - but not necessarily wield - Mjölnir?

Q: Should there be a higher reputation bonus for editing?

Peter NielsenWhen you edit and your edits are accepted, you get (to my knowledge) 2 reputation. That's not a whole lot. Now, obviously, the most reputation comes from bounties, answers, and questions, but shouldn't the bonus for an approved edit be higher? This would encourage people to edit more often, impro...

Q: Second mould when Stormbreaker is cast, what's in it?

A Rogue Ant.From the movie Infinity War, this shot clearly shows two moulds being filled during the casting of Stormbreaker: After Eitri thumps the mould three times, both halves are seen amid the pieces of one mould: Do we have any indication from movie cannon, comic, or press statements as to what might ...

Q: Book about someone creating a cult or religion around getting off the planet

YogstundrowilI vaguely remember someone telling me about this book. Unfortunately I can't remember who it was and I only remember vague details. The basic premise is that in a post apocalyptic or near apocalyptic future, someone (I think it was a woman) realizes that appeals to people's reason aren't enough t...

@Randal'Thor wonder who raised that XD
:-)
@DavidW That's known on main meta as polishing turds. IMO, the only good reason to reject them is if they bump a closed post into the reopen queue unnecessarily. Thankfully, with the new updates to the review queues, you'll be able to see when reviewing whether an edit will send a post to the reopen queue or not.
If it's an answer that's not delete worthy or a question that's not close worthy I don't see the problem with addressing these issues. The user's time could be better spent elsewhere of course but accepting an edit on these posts doesn't seem a problem to me

@AncientSwordRage maybe ?

might be better if you're sticking with that?

Q: Short story where a criminal is on trial in a locked room, and awaiting execution if found guilty

GRaTeI am looking for the name of a short sci-fi story. It is about a man locked in a room while he is on trial for murder, awaiting the verdict. If he is found guilty, he will be executed, but he does not know how he will be executed. The story has him thinking of all the ways that the room might kil...

Q: Do we know when Small Gods is set, compared to the majority of Discworld novels?

Chris HSmall Gods portrays a time of great change in the Omnian religion, when the This later Omnianism is clearly well-established by the time of Carpe Jugulum as evidenced by the Quite Reverend Mightily Oats; there are also references to a more violent past in some of the other novels featuring the w...

@TheLethalCarrot doesn't work for the franchise.
I don't think we need to differentiate between the TV series, the toy line, the comics, and so on.
Oh, didn't realise it was a franchise :)
I only knew about the TV series and toy line

@TheLethalCarrot do we have the option of blacklisting a tag but still showing information when someone tries to use it?
Like a disambiguation tag?
@SQB eh, not really
Blacklisting an ambiguous tag doesn't seem right anyway but I don't think it works like that
11:53
Blacklisting also needs a CM
You could do something clever with tag synonymns or mergers I guessssss?
With mask-year as a synonym
SQB
SQB
So -> "Use [the-mask] for the film featuring Jim Carey or the comics series it was based on, use [M-A-S-K] for the series featuring transforming vehicles and helmets with special powers"
@Mithical to be honest, meh.

Q: why were humans better hosts than Unas to the Goa'uld?

Michael StachowskyWhen they are introduced, the Unas appear to be stronger physically than humans but otherwise have similar capacities - they have gripping hands, for instance, and can clearly make tools. Since the body is just the vehicle for the parasite, why would the Goa'uld not stick with the Unas? What was...

@Randal'Thor Almost ready.
Question has been posted. I'll add answers for all suggestions, but I'm limited to one every minute.
So that everyone can vote for their favourite.
@SQB I don't like that one bit
@SQB Please add some rationale for each suggestion-answer, so that people can vote based on reasoning rather than favourites.

Q: How should we tag M.A.S.K?

SQBYesterday, this question was posted: Is there a canon source from the 1980s covering the death of Matt Tracker's brother from the MASK franchise We didn't have a tag for the franchise, so I added mobile-armored-strike-kommand. @Randal'Thor Doing just that.
Even though I created the tag as the acronym written out, I think my preference has shifted to .
And I wish I had thought of that yesterday.

@AncientSwordRage the video here is unavailable to me due to playback being disabled scifi.stackexchange.com/q/256034/58193
Not sure if it is to you?

@TheLethalCarrot I see that too.

@TheLethalCarrot ahhh I don't know. It worked on my mobile phone, then it got edited into being an embeddable link, but as I can't access youtube from work I can't say either way if it works or not.

The link is to a valid video - if you click through you can watch it. It's just embedding that's disabled.

@DavidW weird
18:58
The issue with not involving mask, is that as you start typing in 'mask' when asking a question (which I'd bet is 99% of what people would do) afaik you aren't going to hit m-a-s-k or mobile-armored-strike-kommand. — AncientSwordRage ♦ 4 hours ago
