Q: Eastern European cartoon with a talking raven

user73910I watched part of this cartoon. Judging by the style and the voice acting, I would say that it was probably made in the Soviet Union or one of the Eastern European countries. Anyways, one of the characters in that cartoon is a talking raven who introduces himself to some other character as Corvax...

Q: What was the exact content of the warning signal transmitted from the derelect in Alien?

SagierianI've always assumed that the transmission did not give many details about the xenomorph's biology, other than it was a dangerous organism. In other words, the transmission could probably be summarized as "Warning. Extremely dangerous organism. Stay away." But I don't know this for certain. I woul...

Q: Book about "new man" or "new men" antagonist

liquidcableStarted a book long time ago about "new man" or "new men" attaching regular people but can't remember the title and didn't finish the book. The main character is half new man or something like that.

Q: Sci-fi short story about a cloned Stradvarius violin

ZarHakkarI remember when I was younger (around 2008-2012) I used to read a lot of "classic" science fiction. Isaac Asimov, Larry Niven, etc. This was either a short story perhaps published as part of a collection, or less likely a snall section of a larger novel. The setting was a modern academic one, per...

Having never watched Wall-e, why are there so many questions about it? Was it a difficult movie to understand?
@Villan nope
most pixar movies have lots of hidden meanings though or easter eggs and I guess a lot of people see stuff where there isn't anything
Something doesn't have to be difficult to understand to generate questions either
Seems like most the questions are like why did Eve do this, or what is this sound when this happens? The questions don't seem to be about anything other than the viewer not understanding what happened. That's why I asked
I never watched Wall-E all the way through so not really looked at the questions about it
@TheLethalCarrot that's also true
@TheLethalCarrot I've seen a few times... not all the questions seem to be in good faith? Thats a bad wording, but I'm hoping it gets my point across
15:00
The characters are silent right?
I can see that adding to some of the misunderstandings

Hi all, I have question for the mods. I recently flagged this answer as low quality, and it was subsequently deleted by other users. However, when I attempted to flag another answer later on, I was informed that my previous flag had been declined, for the follow reason: "flags should not be used to indicate technical inaccuracies, or an altogether wrong answer". I'm wondering what that was about.
My Policy is that the flag is only for very low quality questions. Not just low quality. Taking a look, that question was salvageable and contains the beginnings of a good answer, so could have been improved instead of deleted, but people aren't always willing to do so
@LogicDictates If you have any more questions about the deletion/flagging decision though, I'd suggest taking it to meta
15:48
@AncientSwordRage Nah, if the answer is simply that the answer wasn't of sufficiently low quality to merit being flagged as such, then I guess I just need to be a bit more forgiving when reviewing answers in future. The part about not using flags to indicate wrong answers threw me though, because that wasn't the reason why I flagged that answer.
@LogicDictates The wording could be improved I guess? It's hard to know motives
16:01
Wow, it's almost as though SE came up with the wording for the narrow SO case, and just applied it everywhere. Weird, they never do that.

@DavidW I was just about to ask, was that a pre-worded response selected from a list, or did the person who declined the flag type that themselves? I have no idea, since I don't know what sort of menus mods are presented with.
That's one of the standard decline reasons, yes.
@Mithical Okay, thanks for clearing that up.
I am not impartial enough to vote for close, but scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/253314/… and scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/177242/… are dupes.
Yours is the more complete answer, but the other question is better.
I would wait to see if yours collects an acceptance; if it doesn't the decision is easy.
16:26
@DavidW It is accepted.
@FuzzyBoots Then the decision is not so easy. :) I'm not sure I should vote, since I have a dupe-hammer too.

Q: Short story about an AI space ship trying to escape another faster AI ship

AARON HALEIt was all told from the perspective of the ship. It was traveling near the speed of light and was trying to escape another ship that was coming to reprogram it. It was much further ahead, but knew that in time the other ship would catch up. It keeps hibernating for thousands of years at a time a...

When did they take the "thank you comment" flag reason away?
@DavidW it got rolled into 'no longer needed' a while back

@AncientSwordRage Tells you how often I flag comments...

@DavidW we normally keep thank you comments on story Is questions as they are confirmation the work is correct

Q: What was Draco supposed to say?

RedFlame0627One of the funniest improvised line in Harry Potter, was during the Chamber of Secrets, when Harry and Ron drink Polyjuice potion to sneak into the Slytherin Common room to spy on Draco to see if he was the heir of Slytherin. Draco asked Harry/Crabbe: Why are you wearing glasses?" Harry says: "Oh...

Even after an accept? I thought they were redundant in that case; my bad.
Oh no! A declined flag! So much for my run... ;)
Best to keep them around still I think, I’m case of rage unaccepts, for example
Fair enough, I hadn't considered that.
Maybe I should go back and repost the thank-you comments that I'd left and subsequently deleted. Just in case, you know? :-D
Just spam them everywhere :P

Q: Who is this woman in the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer?

Mason WheelerAt 2:36 in the first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, we have a brief shot of Peter standing outside a car with the back window rolled down. In the back seat, looking at him and presumably talking with him, although the conversation is not shown, is a dark-skinned woman. She looks familiar ...

@Mithical Dropped in the sense of cancelled or as in dropped to the public, i.e. released?
Also, I didn't know it was coming to Amazon Prime. That's amazing (provided it wasn't cancelled). Though, I haven't seen it being advertized yet and I've been to the site just today, so it hasn't been released either.
Generally the expression "has dropped", as opposed to "has been dropped", means released to the public. It is a confusing overlap, though.
Ah, then yay!
In this case, the link in the chat message is to the trailer itself, which also says the whole thing will be released November 19.
Finally I'll learn what the fuss about this thing is all about without having to crawl through books everyone says are the epitome of draaagging.
Ah, I see.

Q: Is there any significance to the "C-15" seen in What If episode 1?

Mason WheelerIn What If...? episode 1, the non-super-solder Steve Rogers ends up as the pilot of a proto-Iron Man suit built by Howard Stark. The suit has "C-15" painted on its left breast, and a star on the right one. The MCU has a long-running tradition of throwing in little shout-outs to comic history her...

@Mithical My tentative plan is to boycott it without even seeing a single scene or trailer, because no screen thing could do justice to WoT and I don't want my visualisations of the characters/world/etc to be overwritten.

Q: Is there a difference between the various 3-volume sets of The History of Middle-Earth?

WadeThroughout the years, a few 3-volume sets of HoMe were released. The latest was released in 2020. It seems that they were almost identical to one another, and more or less identica...

Q: Does any side take prisoners of war?
