After his fight with the Balrog, Gandalf died, or so it is told. Because he was one of the Istari, he came back. Did he have a new physical form or was it the old Gandalf we know and love? Did his age become 1 again from 54960 or something?
He reincarnated as a child in his past life/year and wanted to be strong so he trains by doing magic.
There is a chapter where he wakes up early to set traps before a monster attacks the villagers, and his parents didn’t know anything. When they all woke up, they celebrated his birthday, and they...

Recently, I remembered that as a child in the 90s, I watched a CGI show that revolved around a team of pilots that controlled some kind of animal robots. This show would have aired on YTV in Canada in the late 90s - maybe licensed from Cartoon Network/Toonami?
In the show, they had some undergrou...
I remembered the other day a TV show about a homeless girl making people around her happy and some pale men chasing the kid. Here are some key features from before and after she went missing and came back:
Before going missing:
Certain Info:
She had friends (other children)
The men chasing her w...
So this is a story about a small girl that is being raised in a mansion with her mother while her dad works far away or simply travels, the small girl does a lot of bad things and learn from them, her mom is smart and almost always knows what is going on.
Both mother and daughter have dark hair....
I read the story long ago and my sense was, the insects had to be fairly intelligent to blend in and come to think of it, seemed to be able to, for example, implicitly open doors and other human things.
The movie except for the fundamental concept, is pretty different from the film, but it is als...
I remember watching a horror movie a long time ago. In it, a group of people is trapped in a subway for some reason. They are pursued and killed off by what looks like either some kind of intelligent zombie or a horribly mutilated human. Anyways, I remember that two of the main characters were a ...
I read this manga quite a few years back online (mangafox maybe?) but I think it was ongoing/unfinished. MC is a physically strong girl known for breaking things (nicknamed something along the lines of the “god of breaking things”) and ends up having to help an actual fallen/unknown god gain foll...
It is said that the Valar made the Sun and the Moon "for they remembered the Avari that remained by the waters of their awakening, and they did not utterly forsake the Noldor in exile".
But even before the Trees were annihilated by Ungoliant, Middle-Earth was more or less in darkness, ever since ...
That would need either an array as a parameter, or a string containing a comma separated list that needs to be turned into a proper list. Should be doable.
I've a feeling the possibility of subdomains is going to do me in, though.
I could create a temp table containing the domains, though, then LEFT JOIN LIKE on that and only retain the records that haven't joined.
Some Wikia wikis were actually migrated to wikia.org rather than fandom.com. If a global rewrite script is created, it will have to avoid those specific wikis. — gparyaniSep 30 '19 at 22:14
I'm not superstitious but it's Friday the 13th and I haven't stopped at work today: 2 installs so helping out the 2 engineers, 2 support calls still ongoing. I don't think I've ever been on the phone this long: my ears numb haha and I'm trying to do my own work but that's a lost cause
What printed materials from the Avatar universe are considered canon?
Here's a quick list of what I've seen out there:
The Promise (Parts 1, 2, 3)
The Lost Adventures
The Lost Scrolls (Air, Water, Fire, Earth)
The Search (Forthcoming)
There might be more. So, what's what?
On a ship, Lex Luthor meets Slade Wilson:
Lex Luthor: Welcome aboard. Care for a glass of Gout de Diamants? I
was just celebrating God's return. Out of the ground and back up into
the sky.
What "God" is Lex Luthor referring to?
Can anyone help me find the title of a film based only on the film poster:
I think the film was from the '80s or '90s, the poster has a guy standing on a dancefloor but he's about the size of a dog and wearing a collar and leash, and there's a bunch of women's legs standing around. I think (vague...
I'm currently working on changing http to https in questions and answers of mine. To not flood the homepage (SF&F doesn't have the volume SO has), I do about 5 a day. When I run the query the next day, the ones I've already fixed are still among the results. It would be nice to be able to get a n...
It's a very common trope in the Star Trek universe for treatments to the disease du jour to be developed and rolled out very rapidly. Many, if not most, of the main characters or even most of an entire planet's population become ill as the ship's doctor races against time to find "the cure" or "t...
Last year (2020) saw some changes to the question closure system across the SE network. These included changing the text saying "off-topic" in custom close reasons to "a community-specific reason", which inspired the SFF community to reach a consensus to create a new custom close reason for our w...
Background
This site has a long-standing policy that questions about future works should be closed: if a question is asking specifically about a book/film/episode/comic/etc. that has not yet been released, the question should be closed at least until the release date, to prevent purely speculativ...
@DavidW It is used more but it's arguably less useful. In general if you were using the "catch all" close reason before a comment alongside it would be preferable. All removing that close reason does is combine the 2 steps
I think he had a disk drive that was still intact when he was crushed by the holo-detector. When he was rebuilt, I think he was still analyzing his hardware, and when Eve kissed, he got the data from his disk and remembered him. Do you think that's true?
In the Marvel series What if...? what is the character at the end of episode 1? What is it known as? Does it have any comic book origin or it is created for the show specifically?
@DavidW That was always a bit of an odd close reason, since every site already has an "other" option for miscellaneous off-topic posts, where you can leave a comment to explain specifically why it's off-topic. So yes, the generic close reason might have been used more, but it was really a whole bunch of things collected under one umbrella.
Plus SFF doesn't get that many posts which are completely unrelated to the topic of the site. There's the occasional lost programmer, but way less than say Meta Stack Exchange which does have a custom close reason for "not about Stack Exchange", because tons of people end up there thinking it's SO or wherever.
Fair enough. Like I said, I just wasn't paying enough attention, and it caught me by surprise. :)
Can I ask what's going on with the posts that are being deleted as spam along with the user? I saw one before it was zapped, and nothing jumped out at me as obviously spam.
(I suppose there might have been something objectionable in the user profile, but it wouldn't have occurred to me to check as long as the name was innocuous.)
In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry, Ron and Hermione turned into three of the Slytherins using Polyjuice Potion. If they could brew such an immensely complicated potion, why didn't Harry, Ron and Hermione use Veritaserum or a Confundus Charm instead of Polyjuice Potion?
Sorry in advance, for a spoiler filled question.
At the end of the first episode we see these characters,
Is there any indication of what the timeline is here?

In the opening scenes of The Big Lebowski we see the Dude writing a cheque dated 9/11/91. His bowling team, consisting of him, Walter, and Donny, is bowling for the semis.
In the closing scene, the Dude meets the Stranger at the bar, the Stranger saying he wouldn't miss the semis.

I read this book in the late 1980s or possibly very early 1990s. It was about the second coming of Christ but extremely blasphemous in its plot line (as far as I recall, Christ had come back as a very horny teenage boy and the second “coming” was a double-entendre).
I am in the U.K. and I think i...
I am wondering what happens to the Axiom and its robots after the humans inhabited Earth again. Wall E and Eve will love each other forever, while AUTO is useless on Earth.
