Q: 60s-70s movie. Man makes a wish he was a rock star. But it does not work out

NJohnnyI remember a scene from an old movie... Maybe from the 60s in English, probably filmed in USA or UK. (The music club/bar scene had a 1960s era British music scene vibe, which is why I think it was from the 60s-70s.) Maybe the man finds a magic lamp or something and gets 3(?) wishes. (But they alw...

Q: The age of Miller and Holden (The Expanse)

Hauke ReddmannWhen I first saw the TV series, I was totally confused: Miller does his best Iggy Pop, but still he is far younger than in my head cinema. Even worse with Holden, who is almost a greenhorn. Now their ages are (research was done) absolutely canon, but still the two were...well, today I had an epip...

Is just the tag for the Dragonriders of Pern series? Or is there a separate tag for that?

3:03 PM
scifi.stackexchange.com/q/1441/4918 There doesn't seem to be a separate specific tag.
@Randal'Thor I haven't seen it either. I feel like Funke's books are easier to adapt to film, though not as easy as with Harry Potter, because they do tell about important things other than what you can see and that are hard to translate to the film. Like for example, early enough Inkheart tells about how the protagonist's father never read a book aloud for her. How would you show that on screen? I don't know, but of course I'm not a screenplay writer.
They are probably still much easier to adapt than the Neverending Story though.
@Randal'Thor I think it's better to start reading Neverending Story as a young adult. It didn't work when I was a small child. Your mileage may vary.

3:27 PM
@b_jonas I also thought that Inkheart might be adaptable to film in a relatively good way. But I've been burned by thinking that before, or by thinking that a book is uninteresting enough that the film adaptation couldn't be any crappier.
The Neverending Story ... eh, forget it. Sure, some aspects and layers of it could be captured in a film and make a nice enough tale, but not all of its depth and meta-storytelling, I don't think.

3:41 PM
@Randal'Thor The more interesting question is whether Momo could be adapted to be a good film.
As for Funke, Herr der Diebe definitely sounds easier to adapt to film. (I haven't seen any of the films, and I don't plan to either.)

@b_jonas Hmm, I don't know. I've (re)read tNS more recently than Momo.
It might be another case where the surface story could make a decent film but the layers and depths would be hard to capture on a screen.

Q: B&W SciFi Movie

GeneWhat 50s vintage B&W SciFi movie has a white haired woman entering a flying saucer set in a snow covered landscape? This is all I remember of the movie but I’m pretty sure that this scene is at the end of the movie.

Q: Why was the Arkenstone left when Smaug attacked the Lonely Mountain?

Q: What is the title

Jeannie DooleyI think a trade ship of humans, and 3 alien guards who I think the race started with a K. They have 2 arms and 2 legs, armored exoskeleton, and shed their skin. They couldn't fight while shedding, and until the new skin hardened. Possibly mercenary or exploration, but pretty sure it was a trade s...
