Q: Does Luke use the same X-wing throughout the movies?

Milo PLuke is seen to fly an X-wing with Red Five markings throughout five of the movies (and one of the TV shows). In the Legends continuity, his original X-wing from the Battle of Yavin crash-lands the day after the Death Star and is destroyed. In current canon, however, I haven't been able to find w...

Q: Story about a boy who gains psychic power due to high-voltage lines

David TonhoferAn old short story from the early 80s, in an anthology (I remember it was in German, but quite certainly a translation). Maybe 20 pages. It may have been much older, as high-voltage lines were a known factor by the 80s and not known to have exceedingly unusual effects on humans. The story involve...

@Jenayah 'The name comes from the idiom "until the last dog is hung" (or "... is dead"), meaning "until the very end of the event" or "till the bitter end"' (from the Wikipedia page DavidW linked) - pretty gruesome
@fez duh, next time I'll read further and step down on the laziness. Thanks! :)

Q: Movie, Man does Body swap. Young Daughter knows he is not Daddy

NJohnnyRecently watched the movie Self/less. and it reminded me of another movie I had seen. (USA made, not sure how old, probably since 2000.) In it a man has swapped bodies, with someone. (I don't know the method, it could be like Quantum Leap, or alternate reality, or time travel, wish fulfilment. [I...

Q: Why is the parallel universes so similar and not disturbed by butterfly effect?

HarryAlmost in every parallel universe there is a copy of main heroes, and they are usually biologically identical. This indicates they should have biologically identical father/mother, biologically identical grandfather/grandmother, biologically identical grandfather/mother. The number grows expo...

Q: B-class sci-fi movie about postapocalyptic group of soldiers moving from outpost to outpost, with some of them being cyborgs (or diseased?)

kolorowa The movie was about a group of soldiers (mercenaries?), it was set up in some kind of post-apo setting (deserts, a lot of orange). The group was travelling from outpost to outpost, but I don't remember the purpose of this journey (maybe it was to figure out which one was real human?). Some of th...

Q: Are questions about SF/F fan forums on-topic?

Rand al'ThorRecently a question was asked about a website (Baen's Bar) which, as far as I understand, is/was a discussion forum for fans. There was some discussion in comments about whether or not this question should be considered on-topic here, with some people saying yes because it falls under fandom info...

Q: Why does the Cat Priest from 'Waiting for God' have a blackened hand?

AncientSwordRageIn Waiting For God, the cat priest, played by Noel Coleman has a blackened hand. Asking the room: I'd like to close scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/193251/… (accepted in comment) as duplicate of scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/243218/… but I'm worried about the possible conflict of interest.
Shouldn't the newer question be closed as the duplicate?
Well, we've been trying to leave the better question/answer as the dupe target, not just the oldest.
Or are you saying that the older one should be closed because the newer one has an accepted answer?
Your answer is a lot more in depth so go ahead
I think the newer one has a better question (more details) and the newer answer is better (more quotes).

Q: Why didn't Snape defend himself against Nagini?

Harley QuinnWhen Voldemort ordered Nagini to kill Snape, Snape had his wand with him. As he was a powerful wizard, he could easily counter Nagini. Why didn't he do that? Talking about Voldemort (who wouldn't have tried anyway), Snape could apparate away. If not (for any reason), why did Snape go down without...

@AncientSwordRage (This turning into a chat...) I'm not saying anything about the content. But conventions aren't the same as what's discussed at a convention. As I understand what's on topic, a question like "What's going to happen with Arisia this year?" is on-topic.
It's possible that I'm misunderstanding what's actually on-topic.

@DavidW I'm looking through our small handful of questions on conventions and pottermore as the easiest analogy for me to process. I'll have an update on my answer today

Why is everyone so enamored with the Butterfly Effect? There are many stories which have change resistant or even change-proof theories of time travel.

@Donald.McLean Sorry, context? Are you talking about the chaos theory concept or the movie of the same name?
@Marvin probably this
Ah, makes sense.
I suppose if I'd thought about it, I'd have realized that hardly anyone could be considered "enamored" of The Butterfly Effect. :)
In answer to the question, then, probably (a) because it makes for more drama and (b) it allows greater scope for the author to invest the scenario with their vision. There's not a lot of creativity in "it turns out exactly like the status quo ante." :)

Q: Is there any evidence for the dialog between Morgoth and Sauron in Blind Guardian's "War of Wrath" song?

Hans OloThe German power metal band Blind Guardian have written several songs related to Middle Earth and Tolkien's works. Q: What was the fantasy novel with a fire/fertility goddess named Fala and a sea god named Sur?

cGallivanterI read this novel in either the late 90s or early 2000s. The setting was fairly low magic, but events in the novel signaled that magic was returning in a stronger form. Parts of the setting/novel I remember: Fala was a fire goddess and seemed to have been incarnated in the form of a woman that ca...

Zhen zhunManhua where the main character’s family is killed, so he escapes to a mountain. He trains for 15-some years, and forges his own sword from a meteorite a loyal guy gave him. Super strong bewitching sword. I think a little girl gets yeeted by a bad guy in the beginning.

Q: Was the Land's moon only visible at night?

Michael RichardsonSomething that sits in the back of my mind is that the moon of the Land was only out at night. Is that true? It has been years since I've read the books.
