@SmokeDetector reported as such 'cause invitation to suicide + user has been rude in other posts so I don't think the guy's legit. Troll IMO
@Marvin @Alex lookalike
Ugh nobody here has a two word name
Oh Napoleon does
Hi @Napoleon I’m posting a random comment on one of your posts for a second for a Meta

Q: Why does Cartoon Network air less graphical and too stupid programs nowadays?

Ashokan SivapragasamGone are good, old days where we used to watch some meaningful animated series and episodes like Tom n Jerry, Swat-Kats, He-Man, Road Runner, Courage, The Mask, Captain Planet, Dexter, Johnny,.. Those series were provoking thoughts and (which I believe) shaped us better. But now CN has taken a s...

Just found out OPs can override a delete on their own post and unilaterally undelete a post (unless deleted by a mod and presumably if deleted through red flags)
What a daft feature that is!

Q: How did this user undelete a post deleted by review?

Xavi LópezThis "answer" was posted yesterday. It is NAA as the OP herself acknowledges (Not able to comment over there so, writing here.). The post was deleted from review and then undeleted by the OP as shown in its revisions. Can an author undelete posts that have been deleted by reviewers? Or did some...

Saw it happen on SFF so looked to see how the OP managed to do it
With the troll?
09:43
Nah their posts are all still deleted
On a different note, have SE made a change which has broken a lot of userscripts? SOX, timeline/revision links and the smokey script are all not working for me today
Any ideas @Mithrandir
Certainly possible, but I haven't checked.
Just noticed none appear to be working this morning so not sure if it's my end or SE made a change

Q: Anime where a boy turned into a weapon when feeling danger

EighteenthVariableI think this anime aired around '07 or '08 and it used to air on GameOne (a French TV channel). It was about a boy with black clothing who turned into a weapon (arm first I think...?) whenever he felt danger. It had a similar vibe to Tokyo Ghoul if I'm not mistaken. And there were a bunch of air...

Q: Close flag declined as improper use of flag

OrangeDogNote, I do not have close-vote privileges, so instead I have to use flags. The flag menu has an explicit "this question should be closed" submenu. I flagged a question for closure with a custom reason Close for future works? The answer is "no" right now, could be completely different (and ob...

@Jenayah Fancy fixing the title to make it a bit better and capitalising stone? Also not sure if changing it to Philsopher's Stone is needed
No we should respect OP's version
But okay lemme look at the title
Well Philsopher's is the canon naming per my understanding but I'm no expert which is why I'm not sure
There titled fixed
Well sure but it's like changing US to UK spelling
IMO
But when selecting "flag" -> "should be closed..." -> "..." I thought that also went to the mod queue? Most of them end up with the "helpful" feedback - or is that automatic if the question is eventually closed? — OrangeDog 1 min ago
I'm lost, I thought <3k couldn't flag with custom close reason
They can't.
However, a regular close flag will eventually reach the mod queue, and will be marked helpful automatically if the question is closed.
@Jenayah Not sure I thought it was more of a lightsaber vs lightsabre thing where the former is the canon spelling
10:48
IDK
Mith, advice?
@OrangeDog "flag" -> "should be closed..." -> "..." will send the question to the Close Vote queue and also a mod queue somewhere I believe after a period time potentially. Flagging as just "in need of moderator intervention" will only send it to the mod queue. — TheLethalCarrot 3 mins ago
Think that's right anyhow, looks to be from Mith's comment above
@Jenayah On... Philosopher / Sorcerer? Leave the OP's choice
They're both correct.
@Jenayah The custom close reason is missing for <3k users if you want a screenshot
(That's from Arqade)
Nice thanks
That's from SFF
10:59
We don't all have socks :P
Come on I just edited the thing xD
@TheLethalCarrot Timeline/revision links and SIM are working for me. SOX has been broken for me for... forever. (Random parts of it still show up, though, like replying to your own messages.)
SOX did start working again for me when it broke after the top bar update and was mainly back up and running again
Odd that mine have stopped today then... will have a look
@Stormblessed And...uh...to what end?
11:14
@NapoleonWilson Probably for this
Uh...I have no punctuation in my user names.

Q: Horror movie about a family of monsters

MouvreI remember that this is something like Cronenberg films. It seems that there the guy accidentally spied on his sister in the shower and saw that she had breast on her back, and then the whole family turned out to be monsters. It seems that the family gathered in the evening for dinner, and then t...

It’s weird how I can get upvotes on a Meta but as soon as it’s closed, even if it’s just a duplicate, people just automatically downvote.
12:05
I wouldn't automatically assume it's due to the closure or duplicate nature of it. People aren't all stupid robots, even if you may want them to be to justify downvotes on your awesome question. ;-)
Some might just downvote it because it was, well, a non-problem.
(Though, that is closely related to the "not reproducible" close-vote. But the causality is more that both the closevotes and the downvotes are based on the same underlying reason.)

Q: Story about 2 rival crews terraforming a planet

TonnyIn the mid to late 80's I read a longish short story or short novella (it may have had several chapters) that I like to find again. I read it in an anthology in Dutch but I'm about 99% certain is was a translation of an English original. I clearly remember that there was also a Keith Laumer Bolo ...

Q: What was special about Avengers:Endgame post-credit scene?

RusIIn the re-release of the "Avengers: Endgame" after the end credits Anthony Russo announces the post credit scene which in this case was a deleted scene. Q: What does β€œsample is considered questionable” mean?

StormblessedIn The Way of Kings, some of the death rattles have the note β€œsample is considered questionable” in the description of the subject. Shouldn’t all of the people have Why are some of these quotes β€œconsidered questionable?” please tag spoilers for books after The Way of Kings

Oddly this one has 1000 views but only 13 votes (on the answer)
I’d think HNQ would attract more voting

Q: Cartoon where characters would fight with capsule gauntlets that shoot out small creatures

Apollo EonI'm pretty sure that this cartoon is American and kind of old. I think it used to show on Disney? The first thing that comes to mind is that the main character is discovering his past I think. In the world, people fight with these sort of capsule gauntlets which allow them to shoot out these sma...

15:42
@Stormblessed Nope, I didn't.
@Stormblessed I asked that question because I thought it was something the site would benefit from having, because a lot of people would wonder the same thing and search the web for an answer. Also to prove the point that questions like that aren't so bad.
@Marvin Too broad? I mean, that's basically just describing a very common fantasy trope.

Q: Young adult science fiction novel where a planet orbits a violet sun which gives the planet's inhabitants strange powers

eac2222I'm afraid I may remember too few details about a not-very-good book, but it's stuck in my mind all these years. Science fiction novel, English language, I read it from a U.S. public library, late '70s or early '80s. Hardcover. Probably young adult. Some future with humanity widespread in space...

@Randal'Thor It's a decent even if overly general description, we've allowed less and found the answer
The fact that there's two answers already with well-known fantasy series which pretty much match the description ...
They're a new user that isn't a drive by user and they do keep updating in the comments. I left a comment asking for more details, better to work with them to get more information than close it and potentially drive them away
Closing is a tool specifically designed to stop a question from receiving lots of answers until it can be made properly answerable.
15:57
Aye, that doesn't mean people don't take it negatively and so they move away. Especially new users
And the OP is updating and trying
What happened to Rand al'Thor during his vacation? ;-)
16:10
If the close flag does exactly the same as a close vote, then why do <3k users not get the actual "close" link (but without the custom reason, whyever that is)? Is there an SE Meta about this? — OrangeDog 5 mins ago
Someone good at here?
16:21
Huh, to what end? It's clear his premise is entirely wrong. They don't do the same.
One issues a vote and the other...welll...doesn't.
16:54
Yeah sure that's what I replied but in theory you could enable <3kers to write a custom close reason without actually closing
If you're not trusted enough to even be allowed to VTC, why should you be trusted enough to come up with your own reasons for VTCing?
The same reasons we use custom closes... Rants in disguise, stuff not exactly covered by the canned comments...
(I don't really mind, though)
Rants can probably be closed as off topic/unclear or red flag where appropriate

Q: Isekai Manga Search - Hero summoned a second time

StackUpPhysicsI am looking for an Isekai manga which I read last month wherein the main character (MC) had been summoned and successfully accomplished his task after which he was sent back to his former world, wherein he returned with his powers. However, the kingdom re-summoned people from Earth and ended up ...

It seems we're getting more Isekai story-id requests. I wonder if that's because it's getting more popular as a genre, or if people are just learning that we're good at finding the answers.
From a friend who watches anime and reads mangas, isekai has a huge part in the current anime/manga crops
Oof the titles are becoming increasingly more plain

Correction to my previous comment: in fact I was the mod who handled it, but I'd forgotten. (Since I've been off SE for several days and assumed this was about a very recent thing, I didn't click through to check. Sorry.) — Rand al'Thor ♦ 38 secs ago
Ahahahah @Randal'Thor πŸ˜‚
@NapoleonWilson Hm?
@Jenayah embarrassed And I only realised because another mod pinged me.
@FuzzyBoots I wondered this with the apparent acceleration of fan-fiction content, too.
@Randal'Thor :'D
Also, why am I replying to that message?
...well, I'm wondering what the context here is. What's "this"?
17:57
@Mithrandir I was about to say that too, but deleted it when I saw the edit :'D
It seems you can't even remove the adressee from an existing message. All you can do is readress it somewhere else.
My guess would be more people that are Googling are finding the site more due to having more of that type of question, and so they then post themselves.
@FuzzyBoots Or maybe Anime & Manga are sending their ID peeps over here.
And more importantly, what is an Isekai? (Provided I want to know the answer and it isn't some even more questionable new genre of anime/manga.)
define: Isekai
...thanks, Wiktionary
> Isekai (Japanese: η•°δΈ–η•Œ, transl. "different world") is a subgenre of Japanese fantasy light novels, manga, anime, and video games revolving around a normal person from Earth being transported to, reborn, or trapped in a parallel universe. - Wikipedia: "Isekai"

Q: Series of kid's books about a teen and his computer

SirTechSpecThe hardcovers were titled in an orange monospace font on a dark background. Q: Book series about using wormholes and time travel to reduce decades of space travel to days
