As I understand the development history of this film, Kubrick eventually wrote a screenplay himself, based on the work of previous writers, which he intended to direct himself. He then attempted to pass the film on to his friend Steven Spielberg. On the event of Kubrick's death, Spielberg took up...
2001: A Space Odyssey has several scenes showing a character doing mundane activities.
A flight attendant walks down an aisle to retrieve a floating pen.
Heywood Floyd is reading the instructions for the zero gravity toilet.
Heywood Floyd is eating sandwiches while traveling over the lunar surf...
Magical artists are seemingly able to animate a non living object with the personality of another person, suggesting a great deal of magic ability and skill.
Where exactly is this skill taught? Are there magical apprenticeships or a college perhaps?
Any mods/powerful people? Please approve or reject one of my edits if you can, I'm trying to update the stormlight-archive edit I submitted but it says I have too many.
The story I'm thinking of is from the 80s, and it's set in a world where the Great Depression never ended, and so in the "present day" the main character, a wanderer, stumbles upon a society of deaf-mutes. This all came to pass because of a drug that created deformities in children when ingested ...
I always thought Runaways was set roughly concurrent with the main MCU films and shows airing around the same time.
However, in Runaways S02E08, we see the following line:
STACY: There really is life out there.
JANET: And we made contact.
Obviously, this would be a peculiar thing ...
In Lewis Carroll's Alice series, the Mad Hatter says a riddle, Why is the raven like a writing desk? There isn't any answer to this riddle in this book. Why does the hatter say this and does this have any answer?
In the Star Wars Prequel trilogy, we are shown only one side of Tatooine, while the other is on the far side:
What does the other side (hemisphere) look like? Is there a map of the area?
I remember that it's a short story I first read one year ago. A guy in a mental hospital/prison is telling a tale. There is this guy with long hipster hair who drops out of college and then his car breaks down. He goes into a bar and meets with a beautiful girl with gray eyes. The redneck bikers ...
I recall a short story I read many years ago about a soldier or scientist being sent forward in time to see if man survives overpopulation and if we do, how we solved the overpopulation problem. The answer was a literal "war of the sexes". The protagonist even has to drop his pants at one point t...
In the 2019 ep Resolution, an alien is seen being killed and its body chopped into three pieces. Then the pieces are buried separately, for hundreds of years, before one piece is finally dug up.
And then, after being laid under a UV lamp for a couple of seconds, it comes to life and manages to ma...
Admittedly a very minor bug, perhaps even a one-time thing.
The bug
This suggested edit on Science Fiction and Fantasy states that user Stormblessed created the stormlight-archive tag's wiki on Feb 17th, 2016. Except their account didn't even exist until 5 months ago (we SFF folks are open-mind...
According to MCU wiki, thor's age is around 1055. https://marvelcinematicuniverse.wikia.com/wiki/Thor
This fact is also proved in Thor movie. But in Avengers Infinity War Thor himself declares that he is 1500 years old. How can that be?
The finale of series nine made several alternative suggestions as to who the Hybrid is. It posits Clara and Me as possible Hybrids. On more than one occasion the Doctor claims to be the Hybrid.
However, nothing seems to be definitive. It's all very cloak and dagger, seemingly left up to the view...
I'm looking for a story in which a self-driving car is trying to make a decision on who to hit in an inevitable collision but the story keeps expanding on the life of the different characters. It's quite sad and focused on humanising the different characters and challenging how we value different...
I have not read the book of The Martian, but there was one glaring omission in the movie that struck me.
How were the crew in the Hermes protected from radiation?
In space, especially interplanetary space, radiation is a big problem.
Look at this from Wired:
A new study highlights one of t...
Unless I missed something this doesn't seem to contain any science-fiction or fantasy elements, does it? If it doesn't it's off-topic here but it would be on Literature — Jenayah23 secs ago
I would really appreciate some help over here. Here's everything I can give you to help me: I read this book in 2016!
Title: The protagonist has an alternate name which he uses to refer to himself. I am fairly certain it has Tom in it but don't take it to be 100% accurate. The title MAYBE goe...
So in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, after Harry crashes into the whomping willow, snape says: "you would be expelled, but unfortunately you do not belong in my house and that power does not belong with me." Would Snape have really expelled them? I know Snape hates Harry and Ron, but if...
I have seen a few pictures of a Red Police Box in the Doctor Who sites, but there are no particulars as to it's significance. Can anyone help me out? I am trying to write a fiction based on the Red Tardis.
Thank you.
Given that Hamish White Haven is Earl White Haven, and therefore holds the White Haven seat in the Lords, on what basis is William (Willie) White Haven first the Minister of the Exchequer and then leader of the opposition to the High Ridge government before being made Baron Grantville by the Quee...
> "Similar Questions" algorithm suggests meta.stackexchange.com/q/168852 - but in this case, editor was not the tag's creator, nor were they the one to write the wiki's previous version.
Basically, what happens is when someone proposes an original edit, the system generates a blank wiki as the creation, and then an edited version with the suggested edit. So in all the cases where my suggestion was the initial edit, it shows that it was created, and edited (proposed) at the same second, both by me.
