@Donald.McLean: Just got your notice about a question of interest. Sorry - been super-busy. Had to get the house ready for the final inspection, which was pretty intense (also had to get a trench dug to be inspected before final or I'd have to wait months to dig it - which would mean tearing up the front yard that would be grown by then).
@Donald.McLean: And, after inspection, we had to clean up a septic issue (that I had pissed and moaned about to the septic people who didn't listen), then get things ready for her to move in, move her in, move me in a week later, get the mud flats out front to look like a lawn, bush-hog the south 4 acres (takes 6 hours!) for guests to park in, make the place look great all around, then have our wedding in the front yard. Then, within a week, taxes were due and I did 2 all nighters on them.
After that, I've been just trying to sort through the stuff I had packed in a hurry (been so busy on the new place I never had time to pack at the old place) and set up a new study I can work in.

It's been a bit busy here!

6 month is a long time, the next ban will be even more fun
@KyloRen with that attitude it will likely happen quickly...
Whoops, I shoud have said "stuff" to stir
Yeah, my ban ended this hour
@KyloRen by already looking for the next ban it will be self fulfilling prophecy is my point. not your language.
@Skooba, no they(the ominous they) are out to get me. I can't help being hated
@KyloRen Everyone is welcome here as long as they appreciate floofs
12:49
@TimE.Lord, wtf, who are you? And what is floofs
@KyloRen Just don't be your own worst enemy and everything should be fine.
@Skooba, I am my own worst enemy ,
@KyloRen He is a Room Owner now. Floofs are fluffy animals.
@Skooba, hopefuly I don't get banned for saying "wtf" which is very likely with the current moderating team
@KyloRen If you keep poking the bear, you can't be surprised when you get bit.
12:54
I am a benevolent overlord.
Mostly.
@TimE.Lord, overlords suck
I don't do anything, I just post floofs
Floofs are love, floofs are life
@Tango Yeah, with a new construction house, there's always two or three thousand complications.
@Donald.McLean We have an old barn about 300' behind the house that has all the charm of The Blair Witch Project that we're going to turn into a guest house. To do that, we have to run lines for power, water, sewage, and data back there, which means a trench. Both plumbing and electrical have to inspect the trench to make sure it's deep enough.
The problem is they can't inspect it unless there's an outstanding permit, so I had to get the trench dug and lines in it before the plumbing and electrical permits were considered final or I'd have to wait until we started building the barn. That would be well after we get the lawn down and start landscaping, so I really had to get that trench done early - along with all the other stuff that was going on!

I knew a girl who wanted to dig a well using a mini nuke

Q: Why can't I ask a question on meta after a ban?

KyloRenI tried to ask a question on meta after a site ban was lifted, but I was greeted with this page.

@RobertF We have a stargate at work:

Q: Why is chat so easily manipulated?

KyloRenWhy is chat so easily manipulated? Who decides what? Who decides bans? Who decides what goes on in chat?

Q: Can I ask for movies/books related with a particular sci-fi movie?

Book StrikerSince I'm done with the series and books of a sci-fi movie and can't decide whether what story should I read next, can I ask some recommendations of movie or book related to sci-fi? If this is allowed, what tag/tags should I use?

@Randal'Thor no, it won't. But I still think it's better to have people know the preferred way to delete spam. While it won't be messed up by a couple outliers, if everyone starts doing things incorrectly the spam filter will get a lot less info. IMO, it's better to teach people the correct way to do things rather than have them continue to do things misguidedly.
@Randal'Thor that's commendable, but I don't think that people should depend on that.
@Loong THIS IS SO COOL!
I want to work in a place like this!
And I am not 'pushing my obsession on others'. I am attempting to correct some misguided actions that I noticed.
@Randal'Thor if they are doing it in a misguided way... I don't see the problem. Why not tell people that they can do things a better way?
@TimE.Lord Believe me, you don't want to work here. ;-)
I wish I could show you pictures of our pools.
But maybe I could get fired for that.
16:35
Nuclear plant?!
Sound right up my alley (physics student here)
Call me if you need an internship ;-)
I will need one, actually, though it'd have to be a "research" internship, if I'm not mistaken. Plus I'm not sure if I can go abroad for it.
But thank you for the offer ^_^
You could measure the dose rate from N-16 and neutrons in the equipment compartments during the power ramp-up. So I won't have to send expensive technicians. :-D
So I would produce the EU energy and pay for the privilege :D
And then grow an extra limb
I really have to speak to my advisor about this stuff, though.
And about electives
And the rest
Aargh
That would be on topic here.

> But just to be sure, I got in touch with a friend of mine who works at a research reactor, and asked him what he thought would happen to you if you tried to swim in their radiation containment pool.
“In our reactor?” He thought about it for a moment. “You’d die pretty quickly, before reaching the water, from gunshot wounds.”
In our pools, nothing special would happen.
Well, the boric acid in the water tastes bitter; that's it.
Could be difficult to climb out again without help since the walls are a bit high.
But the visitors love the view. 19 m deep clear blue water.
@Loong Very nice, for the last thing one will ever see.
