Q: Looking for a short story about human courage

P. C. SpanielOne year ago I read a short story (really short, like a few paragraphs) that I'm trying to find again. The story was about a crew consisting on different alien races, including human race, and started with the other species bullying humans for being weaker. Suddenly there was an attack on the spa...

Q: Order of the unreleased Clone Wars

ig3sw_23I want to watch the unreleased Clone Wars, but I'm not sure of a specific order there may be to watch it in. I am fully aware that the released ones are out of order and I'm afraid these may be too. I'm addition, may I ask where the best place to watch these would be?

12:27 PM
@Mithrandir Why?

2 hours later…
2:29 PM
@Babelfish @CreationEdge, why the question edited, removing the request for where to watch the episodes? In addition, the given question, this question is supposed to be duplicating .... this question is a subset request and the additional question of where to watch them, which has been edited out of the question. The given question and answers do not provide any information on where to watch them. Are we not supposed to provide links to YouTube for answers?

@EnigmaMaitreya The problem with "where to watch" is that we're not supposed to link illegal content here. Content on YouTube may or may not be illegal, but that's their problem, and at least they comply with DMCA.

at a glance, the link provided immediately underneath that question doesn't appear to be an official (i.e. legal) upload, so that'd be my guess as to why

Meaning Stack Exchange is safe.

@Ixrec What would indicate it being a legal upload?

that and such links tend to go out of date, even if they are legal
@EnigmaMaitreya well, being on the official Star Wars youtube channel would be the clearest indication

2:33 PM
@Ixrec Ok, that is true, but then again that would would be true of any question / answer that had a link in it as broken links happen

yeah, but there's a difference between linking to additional evidence that's not critical to your answer, and an answer whose primary purpose is to show a link to off-site content we don't control

Which is why we usually ask for a summary of the linked content, and there's a delete reason for "link-only" answers.

@Ixrec Trying to digest that for a moment
@Ixrec Ok, if I cite X as proof and X is copyrighted I do not appear to break the copyright. If I copy X and paste it into an Q/A even though I do provide the link to the source, I am possibly in violation of a copyright.
But the bottom line is should I delete my modified answer

Q: Deity that one prays to in order to get eaten first?

Shubhang DesaiThere is a specific sci-fi entity who is worshipped as a god. He will eventually create chaos and devour all humans. brief textual excerpts from copyrighted works are also generally safe
but yeah anything that's probably a copyright violation should not go in an answer

2:40 PM
@Ixrec We are going to have a difference here as that entire question is now taking on a larger picture as the citation process is being changed dramatically and money is involved. So lets move on. Again, Should I delete my answer?
I know how to modify the answer and provide the information required to find the episodes that would side step your concern on copyright. Is that a better solution?

Is it just me or does the new Pirates of the Carribean look like the old one?
* The first one.

@EnigmaMaitreya yes, I would delete the answer since it's primarily links to content of questionable legality

@Gallifreyan They have all looked alike to me, JD looks like he is high or drunk interacting with a lot of CGI while others provide the majority of the fabric making up the movie. So that franchise is not high on my list :)
@Ixrec Ok, so I resolve your ..... concern, what is the Duplicate adding to the eventual outcome?

it's already been closed as a duplicate of a question whose answers do appear to answer the question about what order to watch them in, so I don't think there's anything more to be done here

@Ixrec Well, I am going to modify the answer to remove the links

2:48 PM
You don't need to, I think.
Whatever is on YouTube is generally fine. That said, some of your videos don't play for me.

@Gallifreyan I agree with you but I have gone with the flow, so to speak and as I say in the answer the episode titles are gold in a search, so no big deal. I do how ever think the close because of a duplicate is wrong. To see the answer to this question one must read the answers and read to the bottom in just one answer to see the sequence.

Well, people are expected to read the answer in its entirety, sure.

@Gallifreyan :) Good point, but the question is not about what are the titles of or the sequence of X it is an opinion on watching something and the order it should be watched in. This question is asking for the titles and the order.
The larger context the linked question is should I watch ep 303, 104, 306 to see the arc in sequnce.

user132126
@EnigmaMaitreya Doesn't matter, now. Your answer is posted. Yours seems to include the same content. My edit was just about removing an off topic question that could encourage answer types we don't allow

@CreationEdge I watched the episodes and enjoyed them. They introduce the concept of a Gigantic Crystal, that is from legends, fair tails, things we tell our children. The idea that the Emperor is looking for them bodes badly for the Jedi.

@EnigmaMaitreya nice, that actually went a lot deeper than I was expecting for an article clearly not aimed at people with a thorough background in these issues
personally I'm still stuck at having to actually learn physics before I can form any opinion on what conceptions of time make any sense but that was fun

3:53 PM
@CreationEdge "I want to watch the unreleased Clone Wars" is not equal to "Is there a consensus or authority on the recommended viewing order? Are there any benefits to watching it in airdate order versus chronological order?" The list of episodes is buried in an answer to that question but there is nothing about the linked question that suggest it has an answer to the question being asked. But I accept my logic is not the prevailing logic.

user132126
He's asking for an order of the reels. The answer in dupe has an order for the reels, as well as the series. That's how we determine dupes here.

@Ixrec The fact that you admit you do not know is the best possible starting position. That is my favorite position, every morning of my life. Then I can see what I learned at the end of the day.

> Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced.

user132126
If your order is different than Rogue Jedi's, I'd move your answer to dupe and clarify why it's different.

I'm still gonna try to solve parts of it though, just because it's fun to do so

@CreationEdge Just an opinion, then it isn't a duplicate question, the answer to the question 1. Does NOT answer the linked question or address it 2. It supplies a list that does not propose or address the question. 3. There for the newer question is being answered by an off topic answer in another question. It is all very confusing and the casual person coming here for help may not be able to find their way to that answer. But again, I accept my logic is not the prevailing logic.
@Ixrec Yes it is, one might ask, in a physics singularity, does time exist.

user132126
Huh? The old question gives an order. All the new question asks about is the order of specific episodes. The order has been given. It's the same question.

user132126
Be like asking "What's the order for season 1?" Dupe.

@CreationEdge No, the old Question never did ask for a list of episodes. I quoted from the old question what the question was. Let me repeat it again, in case you missed it. " Is there a consensus or authority on the recommended viewing order? Are there any benefits to watching it in airdate order versus chronological order?" <- THAT is the question and the Header question asks the same thing. The Old question NEVER ask's for a list of episodes
Here is the Old Questions Header "What is the suggested viewing order for The Clone Wars?" me personally, I see that and I don't even go into the question as these episodes are unfinished and unannounced. So why would I expect them to be in that Old Question?

user132126
Sorry, you're missing parts there. I can't keep arguing. The title is literally about the order, and notes that the series was released out of order. The point is clearly asking what's the right order to watch them in.

user132126
4:13 PM
It needs to be edited for clarity on that point, not unduped for being awkwardly worded

In short, the older question encompasses the newer question. Given that both now have answers that say basically the same thing, and those are unlikely to change since the series is over, there's also no need to keep the newer question open, given that it's the type of question to attract low-quality answers.

@Gallifreyan When is the Movie Night? And is there a winner yet?

the pinned link should cover the current status
but you're right, it is missing dates, ping @Gallifreyan

Still not enough pings.
I was thinking about 2nd or 3rd of June, but that would require us to declare a winner now; Labyrinth is leading, but Constantine is not that far away and I think some votes are still coming.

it'd probably be good to pick a date when the winner will be finalized

it's not critical that we pick the optimal movie to watch but it's important no one's confused about how this all works
because lots of people either misunderstand or abuse the flagging system

And now it's gone.
Out of context, it's a perfectly fine message, which seems to be the most crucial criterion as far as the blue powers are concerned.

</insert standard SE chat flag system rant>
personally I'd prefer Constantine solely because that's a movie I haven't seen before, and I generally prefer new stuff to rewatches
but Pan's Labyrinth was amazing so I'm not exactly gonna complain about rewatching it
