Q: Cartoon show or movie involving three kids who combined with monsters to fight three other kids who did likewise

AaronYears ago when I was little I watched a show or a movie that was three kids and they combined with monsters to fight off three other kids who combined with evil monsters. There was a scene with a baby and the kids were trying to find a tattoo on the baby and after, I think, a lantern shines on th...

Q: Fantasy book where some youth escape the conquest of their kingdom and come back with Sten guns to free it

MarcusOK many years ago ( I am 57 now and this was when I was about 12) I read a fantasy book that has never left my memory but can't be recalled properly. In it a kingdom (?) was ringed with mountains. When it was attacked the people were easily defeated. A few youths escaped over or under the mountai...

Q: Fanfiction about Harry Potter finally being reunited with his lost relatives

Mary Deabie Joy Gojar IIThis story goes that Harry has ancient and noble houses that include Hogwarts. Harry has a relative that Dumbledore put to sleep (she is a woman; her name starts with 'A'), just because she is a powerful wizard (I forget if she is Lily's sister or Harry's older sister). Harry Potter was in danger...

Q: Was Kornbluth the first to suggest a future of low-IQ people overwhelming high-IQ "minders"?

releseabeI am referring to his Little Black Bag universe which afaik only also includes The Marching Morons and inspired Idiocracy and to a slight extent Robocop. Note that The Time Machine is not really an example of this -- the Eloi/Morlock division is not implied to be because lower-IQ reproduce faster...

Q: What happened at 548 Primrose Lane?

Ian ThompsonIn the classic sci-fi film, Robocop begins to recover his memories and visits his former family home at 548 Primrose Lane (about 53 mins in). The house appears to have been largely cleared and prepared for sale, even to the point of having an automated estate agent fitted. In the lounge, Robocop ...

Q: In "The Final Empire", how was Kelsier's plan supposed to work?

Юрій ЯрошI've just started reading The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson and I think I have some misunderstandings about Kelsier's plan. At the first meeting of the crew in Camon's safehouse Kelsier says: "But if we play this right, we might be able to force the Lord Ruler to send the palace guard - mayb...

Aaargh ZombiesWhat is the publishing history of the version of Bo-Katan Kryze who appears in the Disney+ live action series of the Mandalorian? Q: Post-apocalyptic sci-fi film with giant scorpions and man with lightning powers

BastronNew user here trying to remember old VHS films that I watched as a kid, rented by my dad. For this topic I'm looking for a sci-fi movie, probably 70's or 80's set in what I think is a post-apocalyptic world if I recall correctly. The film includes giant (stop-motion) scorpions and a guy, probably...

Q: Sci-fi film or TV-show including aliens, worm forced into feet or mouth

BastronI only have vague memories about this but it's an American or maybe British sci-fi film or TV-show set in our past, present time or in a near future judging by the environments, that includes aliens that forces a worm to enter restrained humans' heels or mouth from glass vials. A terrified victim...

@Spencer I was always interested in taking part in theory, but in practice even if I made a point of reading a work or two by the author of the month, I didn't really have any questions to ask.
It might work better in a forum that can operate more as a book club, where people can meet and just discuss things, as opposed to requiring answerable questions.

Q: Father with two children living in a remote house has a dog with a personality programmed in its collar

DevCrewI believe this film had a father (tech guy) and two kids in a remote, tech modern house. Possibly post apocalyptic but not a real plot point. I want to say they had a dog with a nanny/dead mother programmed into its collar as a personality and the kids talked to it. Two other kids showed up; mayb...

This may take 2 passes; I've already skipped a case where the image was too large for the 2MB limit, and I couldn't really shrink it. (It was a large diagram that became unreadable when I tried to make it smaller.)

Q: Deflector beams/navigational rerouting

James WadeThe ships navigational computer maps the warp bubble ahead of the ship, and sends pulses from the warp nacelles ahead to detect debris. Long range detectors tell the computer of upcoming debris. The deflector shields push microscopic and small debris out of the way of the ship. The navigational c...

Q: Futuristic vr game manhwa-manhua of a rich guy

SleckI remember reading about a kind of manhua-manhwa where this MC invested all his money (he was from a rich family) into a vr game because he knew (I don't remember if it was reincarnated or just a dream) that the game was going to be a global success, thus getting the highest gears on the game and...

Q: Under what conditions can Federation capital ships detect vessels traveling at warp speed?

einpoklumSuppose I'm on a Starfleet capital ship, between TNG-era and Picard era. What are the limits of the ship's ability to detect the position and direction of a vessel - other capital ship or shuttle - traveling at warp speed, given that the vessel starts out very close, and well within sensor range,...
