Q: Animation (possibly anime) with space station made of two hemispheres

PhenomenomFor some reason I recently remembered an animation that I saw on TV at some point when I was a child. I only ever saw it once and don't remember when. This would have been shown on British TV at some point between the mid 80s and early 90s, probably at a child-friendly time of day. I don't know i...

TidyDevIn Consider Phlebas, the Culture seem to be spreading throughout the Milky Way, but having very little to do with other civilizations. The Idiran war seems to be forcing the culture to reevaluate their stance on galactic diplomacy. Fast forward to the events of The Player Of Games, the Culture is...

Q: Why did Loki lie to Thor that Odin was dead?

WadeIn the first Thor film (2011), Loki visits Thor in his exile in Earth and tells him that their father died, that "the burden of the throne" has fallen to him, and that their mother has forbidden his return. Why did he tell him Odin was dead? It seems to me that this lie was completely unnecessary...

@TheLethalCarrot Re the meta questions you (I think it was you?) edited in as suggestions for Community Ads:
* the POB/list/science/"is there any" policy posts are important for people to know if their questions are closed as such, but I don't think important enough to put in the sidebar for everyone browsing the site to see. (Also the titles are quite "questiony" which is a bit misleading now as they're established policies. Do the new Community Ads necessarily show the actual post title, or can we put whatever title we want to be displayed?)
* "Where can I ask questions that aren't Science Fiction & Fantasy Stack Exchange questions?" would be a great thing to put there, if it had any decent answers. That meta post would be a nice thing to curate and improve, but we should do that first otherwise it's just an ad for TV Tropes. (Speaking of which, do we want an explicit TV Tropes ad? We did have one in previous years.)
* the spoiler policy post is a great thing to put there, if we're sure it's up-to-date (it's from 2011 and hasn't really changed since then)
Did you check through the tag to find good meta FAQs to add?

12:16 PM
I think they all came out of the FAQ tag but I just added the important ones, I didn’t check them properly. Feel free to prune some out
tou can give them whatever title you want though, doesn’t have to match the questions title

Also, you have any idea if I'm doing it right for the ads to be featured on other sites? I used the official site name and linked to it, but maybe we just need to put the plain site name that's in the URL, like "space" instead of "Space Exploration".

12:38 PM
I don’t think it matters, I imagine these are going to be created at least somewhat manually

Q: Aliens with innate mathematical ability

Clara Diaz SanchezI'm trying to find the title and author of a short novel I read about 10 years ago. The book was in English, and the writer was a woman, and not a "big name" as far as I recall. @SQB mh. Might be worth keeping an eye on if it's a chat-related bug

4:27 PM
@SQB Reloading won't fix the onebox content if it was created with the alt text missing. If you look at the source it shows <img src="https://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/1991_and_2021.png" title="" alt="">
And like I said, I clicked through immediately after it was posted and the XKCD site didn't have the alt text set properly. So obviously the onebox was created while the source was missing the alt text, and so it doesn't have it either. That xkcd.com was updated after the onebox was created doesn't fix things, unless there's a mechanism for the onebox to update itself.

Q: Show where 2 kids interact with a programmer stuck in his computer

Alantar HI've been trying to remember the name of this show. It aired during the 90s sometime. It logically must have been between 1993 and 1999, but I can't narrow it down any more than that. Q: Why does Nina have problems remembering things related to the key?

AdamantIn the Netflix series, Nina seems to forget anything she learns about the keys, or even any events surrounding them, nearly as soon as she learns it. The Locke children's initial working hypothesis, that it has something to do with age, is clearly wrong. There are plenty of adults who have no tro...

On Rivers of London:
> Ben Aaronovitch's "Rivers of London" series (also the "PC Grant" or "Peter Grant" series) are urban fantasy murder mysteries about a young Fula-English police detective discovering that magic is real but poorly understood. Some people will be attracted to it for the supernatural worldbuilding and the way magic is simultaneously rigorous and poorly understood, but my greatest love of the series is how it presents Britain through Grant's eyes: as a police officer, as the son of a jazz man and a housecleaner, as a student of architectural history, as a Londoner with family in Sierra Leone.
