@Jenayah Well, yes, the answer could have been posted if the question would get reopened. My point was that in a closed state the question the answer could not be posted, and therefore closing it prevents potential good answers from being posted (unless the question gets reopened).
@Adamant Given that the other question is a different question, there would be no reason for someone to post this answer to that question. Indeed, in the nearly four years between that question and this one, the poster did not post this as an answer to that question.

Anyone else see two “2 hours later...”s?

@Stormblessed Yes.

Writing a Meta

It's probably a deleted message or something.

@Alex no
No "removed" thing
@Stormblessed somehow my phone put both the smart quotes backwards :P
oh wrong reply

Do you have Babelfish hidden ?
I have a feed message between them.

2:05 AM
@DavidW oh @Alex that's it
Dang Babel fish
@Mithrandir how so? Isn't it how we send non-automatically-caught stuff into the queue?

I don't have Babelfish hidden.

@Alex screenshot?
Unhiding Babel fish fixed it

@Alex check here if it's hidden
Is the Teachers' Lounge one big room for mods across the network @Mithrandir?

@Stormblessed Odd. Apparently I was ignoring that Babelfish but not ignoring another Babelfish.

Q: How would you imitate me on SFF.SE?

Voldemort's WrathSo, people have their little quirks, and the internet does not disqualify those perks from people. My discussion, totally off-topic question is: what would you say my little quirks and things are when commenting, asking, answers, etc. Please include as many users as possible in your answers, but ...

Q: Story about a spacecraft crewman picking up women in a bar, intending them harm

Eric SmithA crewman has just finished a job, landed on a planet, rented a room, and goes to a bar. He picks up a few women who are dancing, taking them back to his room. He intends them harm. He expects to get another crew job on another spaceship and be long gone by the time his crime is discovered. Th...

@Stormblessed NaA flags.
@Stormblessed Essentially.
@Alex It was split into two because there wasn't enough room in a single feed.

3:53 AM
@Mithrandir so can mods see other sites’ mods’ chats?

4:13 AM
@Stormblessed No, why would they be able to?

4:36 AM
@Mithrandir oh I thought that mods had like infinite power on Chat
Because you can do mod stuff on our sci-fi room

Mods can't access private rooms not parented to their site or deparented.
(So, for instance, I can't see the SFF mod room, no matter how interested I'd be in seeing it.)

Any idea what the difference in power is for staff with vs without diamonds?
They can edit in red tags
Anything they can't do?

If they don't have a diamond, they can't really do anything that requires a diamond except for edit red tags.

4:51 AM
@Mithrandir How do you know?
(I'm not saying I doubt you, I'm just curious)

Comes from lurking in all the right places.
I think it was mentioned on Meta.SE at some point.
Or in the Tavern.
Or the TL. Or somewhere.

Subtitling on Netflix is really strange

I can't remember where I picked up every small tidbit like that.

JoJo has some weird stuff
Like one guy says "bye" very clearly in English but the subs say "au revoir"
@Mithrandir oh I forgot that you're always in literally every chatroom that has ever existed :P

Pff.

4:55 AM
Can you see that I'm in Mos Eisley? I'm curious if it shows, because it's deleted
(Poisoned room; it is defunct.)

I know what it's called now, I was directly involved there ;)
And yes, if I head to your profile I can see that you're in there.

It doesn't seem so terrible from what I've briefly looked at, I guess there's a lot of deleted stuff that isn't mentioned in the transcript

You're not going to see everything skimming. It was a gradual buildup over several years of chat.

Also on subtitling, I was watching some show which had one character speaking Spanish that got English subtitles, but when I had them set to Spanish for whatever reason it wasn't transcribed. Kinda sucks for deaf people :/
@Mithrandir oh I thought it was just one big thing with people being rude and angry right at the end

Why did you even want to look at it? Just... let what's dead stay dead sometimes.

5:12 AM
eh idk

5:51 AM
@Mithrandir When something is advertised as "Poisoned room; it is defunct", who doesn't want to see it?
That was probably the first thing I did when I reached 10,000 reputation.

Q: Does anybody know of an amateur sci fi blog that does a “Future Tech of the Week or Month” feature?

MaxI’m obsessed with sci-fi novums and I am a huge Star Wars and Star Trek fan. I’m looking for an amateur blog that every week (or every month) postulates a future/sci-fi tech, science, idea or concept. I already watch Isaac Arthur but I need something I can read.

Q: Could somebody help me identify this Just William story about Christmas Day?

elliott94I remember listening to a Just William audiobook when I was younger about a Christmas Day when he received a mouth organ, and started playing it really early in the morning! Q: What's this object in SHADO headquarters?

Organic MarbleThe secret organization SHADO in the 1970s TV show UFO has this object in the middle of the floor in the operations room in their headquarters. The red disks rotate. Sadly, I can't quite make out the black text on the vertical divider. In- or out- of universe, what is this? A late 60s disk driv...

Q: What Marvel titles/collections are essential for enjoying Jonathan Hickman’s work at Marvel?

Eric SchwenkeI’ve recently started reading Jonathan Hickman’s work at Marvel because I’ve heard that it’s both amazing and can be seen as a whole saga unto itself. I’ve been utilizing ebooks from my library for this and started with Fantastic Four, volumes 1-4. Then I started volume 5 and realized that there ...

5:48 PM
@Mithrandir When it was only recently deleted, I occasionally wanted to search for specific conversations that I recalled were in there. I don't think I ever succeeded, partly because the SE chat search isn't easy to use in first place, and because for a while the room was so deleted that even 10000 rep users couldn't see it.

A: Weird blue and purple humanoid superhero keychain with "Z" chest emblem and trident head

LaurelAfter scouring the internet and coming up with nothing, I finally found the answer in the most unlikeliest of places: my aunt’s house. There, by complete coincidence, I saw this keychain: My aunt says it’s from a pencil case she bought at Borders books, a pencil case like this: Which has t...

Q: Could somebody help me identify this Just William story about a school choir?

Q: How does Geralt transport his swords?
