Q: Issues with APL Animation for Alexa Skill

Pau_757_808When I am using the Alexa Developer console display tool screen animation work perfectly. When I try and use the Echo Show, all the images are projected really quickly then the animation starts.... What am I doing wrong. I have already tried changing the opacity and tried switching to pager. Pag...

@ngn thanks

LTR might look weird with respect to assignments to names, unless lines were aligned to the right hand side of the text editor pane

ngn
@chrispsn or could have lower priority ("binding strength") wrt functions

8:37 AM
since is already heavily special-cased in my impl it should just be a couple boolean changes to make it go rtl if everything else gets changed to ltr (+ argument swapping, - modified assignment), but as that'd be horrible inline, could be a regular-order version. i'll play around with this at home

@chrispsn Yeah, it should probably be , just like in TI-BASIC.

@Adám even with → there's the side-effect that the names don't align as now they'd be on the right of arbitrary length lines

8:53 AM
@dzaima True, but 1) is that really an issue? 2) that's no worse than TI-BASIC 3) that's an IDE/presentation problem 4) no worse than end-of-line comments' (mis)alignment 5) spaces/tabs can fix

9:19 AM
@Adám 1) depends; 2) and C has operator precedence, but that doesn't mean APL should; 3 & 5) sure, but it'd still result in it being way harder to decipher whether a line is assignment or not if reading LTR; 4) i don't necessarily like that either; now lines without comments would be forced to be padded to be quickly understandable, further increasing the artificial need to make lines be of approximately the same length as to not allow getting lost in the alignment

Having assignment on the far right also aligns closer with mathematical quizzes:
2 + 3 = _
2 × 3 × 4 = __

Q: "reduction on infixes" in Racket?

hoosierEEI am working on a compiler pass and want to remove redundant movq For example, this sequence: (movq a b) (movq b c) (movq c d) (movq d e) should become (movq a e). My (current, working) approach fuses the current and next movq instructions if the destination of the current matches the source ...

@Feeds Just use APL already!

@Adám Sadly, that answer would be downvoted into oblivion

If all goes right, ⎕C⎕A will be the lowercase alphabet in 18.0. Whoo!

Hey @Adám, I'm trying to get the .dws file for Mastering Dyalog APL working and macOS RIDE says there's a TRANSLATION ERROR. Would you happen to know what the problem is?

@Sherlock9 That's very odd. Such an error should only happen in a Classic interpreter (which we don't issue for macOS)
@Sherlock9 Which .dws?

@Adám DyalogTutor_EN.DWS

@Sherlock9 Hm, it loads fine for me.

17.1 right?

@Sherlock9 Yup. What does ]version report?

6:04 PM
 Dyalog  17.1.36845 64-bit Unicode, BuildID 6b18dda9

@Sherlock9 Can you try )copy path/DyalogTutor_EN.DWS instead?

@Adám IT WORKS! :tada: emoji that I forget only works on Discord :(
Huzzah! nevertheless

@Sherlock9 Run lx to see the intended greeting.

Oooh
I'll keep that in mind in future
Onward and tutorialward
