I'll edit your name. Apologies. ...*edit: Too late. Unable to edit.
@Kaithar, @Physics-Compute: Do you two need a mediator? Should we take this to a private room? My services are free. :)
@anongoodnurse I very specifically said "actively lethal" because I was referring to the high rate of suicide... every study shows that transgender youth suicide rates skyrocket when exposed to the referenced behaviour.
@Kaithar I will reiterate: conversations should be as civil here as if they were taking place in your dining rooms in front of both of your families. Holding an opinion is not the same as killing someone, though it most certainly can be seen as narrow-minded.
I could perhaps have been more verbose in my remark, I'm used to "lethal" being a term lacking intent... hence inanimate objects are described as lethal but people usually aren't
The best attitude in a discussion, and the most productive, is for both parties to try to understand the other's viewpoint, and try to remember we are none of us perfect and all make mistakes. If that's kept in mind, there will be fewer accusations flying around.

(actually, more accurately, a thing that kills is described lethal regardless of the intent with which it is used, labelling something as dangerous isn't done to suggest that a person would attempt to use it in such a way but rather that it's important to know the possible outcomes before use)

@anongoodnurse I'm trying to keep worldviews out of the conversation as much as possible - this is not a place for debating those (and would rarely be productive anyhow). I can see that @Kaithar does not agree with the terminology I used, and I respect that he's able to have that opinion. I try to be as unbiased but accurate as I can when wording things.
@Physics-Compute Try not to accuse him of things out of context as well, ok?
As I said a while ago, I have no objection to @Physics-Compute holding the opinions he's stated... my problem is with the 40% suicide attempt rate for transgender youth raised in an environment with attitudes :(
Transgenderism is a controversial issue, and the effects of certain attitudes towards it are pretty horrific. So yeah, there's a balance between letting people have their own opinions and trying to persuade them of the reality of the issue here. But, at the end of the day, humans will always have differing opinions, and if you can't get a point across without resorting to mudslinging and insults, it's time to let it go and let people have their opinions.
@Kaithar If you have any evidence that @Physics-Compute has caused any of those suicides, please call the victim's local police department. If you don't like someone's attitude, and rational discussion can't solve differences, just let it go.

Thank you all for your careful words. I believe @Kaithar and I have resolved to agree to disagree on terminology and I'll leave it at that so we can all move on.
@anongoodnurse I don't mean to suggest such a thing, but sadly trying to inform people is one of the few things that can be done to lower that number :(
@Kaithar It's time to let it go. Please accept @Physics-Compute's offer to agree to disagree. You will not achieve anything by drawing this out.
@anongoodnurse yes, sorry, bit slow on the reading and replying, it's rather late. I accept the offer.
Well done, both of you. Have a pleasant rest of your day!
