@DavidCarlisle and @UlrikeFischer, any theories why tex.stackexchange.com/a/670097/87678 doesn't work with lualatex?
(At least only half works)

Hans is in (lowlevel) optimization mode. Compilation time of my ~300 pages book has gone down from approximately 12s (December 20) to 9.5s today.

@DavidPurton looks like a bug to me, I sent a message to the luatex list: mailman.ntg.nl/pipermail/dev-luatex/2022-December/006716.html

11:36 AM
@UlrikeFischer Ta. Reporting that kind of bug is above my pay grade.

Does anyone know where the algorithm package is on CTAN?

@youthdoo Is there such a package on ctan? There is algorithms and others...

Looks like it is part of ctan.org/pkg/algorithms

Thanks. I missed an "s".

Is there any difference between using \renewenvironment{foo} vs. renewcommand{\foo} when you only need to change the definition of \foo?

1 hour later…
4:48 PM
@AlanMunn well the first will also change \endfoo.

@UlrikeFischer Of course, but I'm assuming leaving the \endfoo definition the same.

5:10 PM
@AlanMunn but with renewenvironment you will overwrite it, so it can change, e.g. if the original definition changes something you will loose that.

5:34 PM
@UlrikeFischer Right. Suppose we have \newenvironment{foo}{\def\foobar{x}}{\par} and I want to change this. Is there any difference between doing \renewenvironment{foo}{\def\foobar{y}}{\par} and \renewcommand{\foo}{\def\foobar{y}}?

@samcarter beamer's hyperref syntax strikes again: tex.stackexchange.com/a/670142/105447 :-)

(from twitter.com/scorfano/status/1607422888922980352 — typing 60$^{\circle$ without closing the group, and I guess ignoring errors)

6:34 PM
@gusbrs One needs to love beamer for its quirks, otherwise one would get crazy :)

6:49 PM
@samcarter And love it we do "quand même". ;-)

7:35 PM
@gusbrs :D

7:58 PM
@samcarter you mean that's the reason for @ShreevatsaR's strange text?

@Skillmon That's just an alien civilisation trying to communicate with us :)
@Skillmon btw: I met a tame version of your avatar today tex.stackexchange.com/users/237762/barbab :)

@samcarter uuhh, looks delicious!

@Skillmon :P

@Skillmon -- Cannibal! Among our (stuffed) menagerie is a long-legged bunny. She accompanies me on journeys. I won't tell her about your proclivities.
@Plergux -- Oh, great gobs of good luck on your defense! When will it happen?
