Hello guys!! I am trying to align math expressions between different \item's using beamer document class, but I don't know how. Please consider this MWE:
I want the last two rows aligned to the first one (if there is no enough space, then the entire alignment should be shifted to the left, only in that case):
@manooooh -- The third line is simply too long to be aligned with the first line. I'd be inclined to keep the first line at the position shown in the second slide, and align the other two on their equal signs, but moved far enough left to leave about the same space on the right of the last line as is now on the left of the first line
@manooooh -- Yes. You will probably have to add some space at the right on the first line, and some on the left for the last two. As I see from the code, the two groups will br centered otherwise. And you'll probably have to add a bit of vertical space between the aligned lines. It's all manual, unfortunately, but you really want your slides to look nice.
Yes, I want the slides to look nice. Unfortunately I picked bad equal expressions on both sides of the = sign to be shown, that makes things a bit more tricky as you said
@manooooh If I were you I would skip the next-to-last step. Then the TeX problem goes away, and the hopefully enthusiastic students can do it themselves if they are in doubt. :)
(and perhaps write the second term on the second line as $\frac{1}{3}3(n+2)(n+1)$.

How do I get rid of this cramped f and l in inflection point?
I am writing my dissertation in LaTeX I am faced with this odd situation that if 'f' character has another character (f, i or l) next to it, it sticks the two together as can be noted below. This makes the two 'f' look different.
How can I disable this?
@mickep thanks!! I make this little beamer presentation to make videos for my students (I am actually the assistant of the professor). I have uploaded the videos where I am using this documents to my YouTube channel (which only has 2 videos) if you want to see them (in Spanish) ;). The problem is that I don't understand when you say "and the hopefully enthusiastic students can do it themselves if they are in doubt"; what do you mean by that? I mean, if I put things in another \item --
-- then I prevent from spoiling the whole proof, don't you think so?

@manooooh Thanks! After all, they are not a bad thing, I suppose.
@FakeMod typographically speaking, ligatures are useful. But I am not the most significant person you can talk about this things, it's better to wait @DavidCarlisle or @barbarabeeton for better answers than mine
@mickep I absolutely agree with you. (What a beatiful sketch!) My question is, would you show the entire proof at once on one frame? Or would you split the proof into two or more slides?
@FakeMod why would you disable ligatures? they have been used in all fine publications in Latin scripts since before the invention of printing

@DavidCarlisle This was probably my first encounter, or the first one when i consciously noticed them. So I was a bit surprised, but now I am not. Thanks!
How does one revert a owners edit? I told the person what was wrong and they removed their mistake from the question so now the question no longer make any sense
I am trying to work on a paper with specific size : 240mm x 160 mm.
To generate my paper I am using pdflatex from texlive.
I used to do this :
\usepackage{ifpdf}
\ifpdf
\pdfpageheight=240mm
\pdfpagewidth=160mm
\else
\special{papersize=240mm,160mm}
\fi
It was working perfectly, but it is...
@MarcelKrüger do you understand the indexing logic in the pdfe library? I'm trying to extract the info for a destination, and have to use index 1 both for the page reference and the name:
type, ref, pageref = GETFROMARRAY(destarray,1)
print("AAA",type,ref,pageref)
name = GETNAME(destarray,1)
print("BBB",name)
AAA 10 <pdfe.reference 14> 14
BBB FitH
@MarcelKrüger GETNAME is the local version of pdfe.getname etc
@UlrikeFischer It's based on a C library, so arrays are 0-based instead of 1-based. But dictionaries, streams and arrays can also be accessed directly through metatables. Given that these therefore look like native Lua objects, 1-based indices are used in these cases. Additionally there are the getfrom functions. These are closely related to the totable functions which create actual Lua tables, so they also use Lua-like indexes.
Of course, you could ask why they didn't just change everything to 1-based indices given that about half of the interfaces already use it. But pdfe.getname and friends are not used in ConTeXt, so noone noticed the inconsistency.
@PauloCereda Great, looking into the repository I realized that my rule request for "arara" is the same as in an old issue (github.com/cereda/arara/issues/54)
@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz Good! I think they will find a lot of fishes in the lake, and are happy not to be disturbed. I saw people who went close to a swan nest to do a selfie, of course the swan didn't agree
@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz I'd help, but I think I am quite lost with all the expandable and no-expandable key-value stuff... I'd need a "101 primer". Quite advanced stuff...
@Rmano not so complicated actually. IMHO, the interface is pretty straight forward. The most confusing thing is that there are two steps of key-defining, the first being primary keys which correspond to what the macro really has available as arguments, the second being, well, secondary keys, which can combine or short-cut primary ones.
@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz Hmm... I am too lost on this; I'd need a kind of example usage. I'll read the expkv manual and see if I can understand it...
@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz Ok I'll look at it. A suggestion --- if you add a compiled manual .pdf files to the releases you can help a lot the casual reader... My TeXLive is normally 2017 and so I have to go to my experimental texlive trees to even compile it...
@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz I will never be able to use your package - I can't pronounce the name ;-) Couldn't you have called it expandkv or something else with a few more vocales?
@Rmano well, releases are only to CTAN, really. The github tags are more for myself than for actual release. And I didn't set up a build bot to create the documentation remotely, and don't want to include it in the git.
@UlrikeFischer exp-kai-vi.
@UlrikeFischer I think that's easier to pronounce than pssnfss.
@UlrikeFischer I will not rebrand it just for a joke, sorry. And I think he suggested that name the last time, when I asked for a package name and no one suggested anything except rabbitkv, so I ended up with expkv and now all you do is nagging :(
@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz hello. I am interested in giving you feedback, but I don't know what is the repo about, moreover I have never used expkv-cs. Do you want feedback to a particular line of code, or smt like that?
