I want -1 to the power S, but codecogs gives error, why?
(-1)^{S} ---> invalid equation

2 hours later…
4:58 AM
That was a problem with codecogs I used stackedit and problem is solved

3 hours later…
8:21 AM
@DavidCarlisle (@UlrikeFischer) I'm having fun with Heiko's 'completeness': deciding which parts of PU are acutally useful!

8:35 AM
@JosephWright ooh

8:51 AM
Mario Kart Tour now features a London track and Waluigi as a double decker driver.

@DavidCarlisle you get a similar issue with memoir (I removed scrlfile when testing), filehook-memoir.sty haven't changed since 2011.
Lol, the message isn't even from filehook-memoir.sty, it mentions memoir in the messages, it is from filehook itself.

@JosephWright Yes, good question. If there were only utf8 input to consider probably for a lot we could assume that the users input them directly and that they can be simply converted.

@UlrikeFischer Well yes: I'm going to restrict to the T1/TS1 set, I think
@UlrikeFischer Take a look at the most recent checkins: I've picked out the 'obvious' cases

@JosephWright and then probably somewill complain and blame you that \textEnvelope is gone ;-).

@UlrikeFischer I think we have to assume UTF-8 for new material: really, people should not be messing about with other stuff
@UlrikeFischer Could have a 'compatibility' layer: a secondary file that loads all of HO's stuff, but not as-standard
@UlrikeFischer :)

@JosephWright /whispers ASCII
/runs

@JosephWright If \textEnvelope would go, what would happen in your code if someone would do an "input mapping" with \newcommand\textEnvelope{✉}?

10:28 AM
@UlrikeFischer That would 'just work': it's expandable

@JosephWright yes, I quite agree, but I'm also sure that there are still a lot older 8-bit documents around.

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{expl3}
\usepackage[unicode]{hyperref}
\renewcommand\textEnvelope{✉}
\begin{document}
\ExplSyntaxOn
\message{\text_purify:n{\textEnvelope \c_space_tl stuff}}
\ExplSyntaxOff
\end{document}
@UlrikeFischer Sure, yes; it's a tricky balance

Purify?!
Wow.

@PauloCereda Branch l3text

@JosephWright oh

10:41 AM
@PauloCereda See email

@JosephWright ooh

3 hours later…
cis
2:08 PM
@PauloCereda Mr. Cereda, this is not the origin idea of pizza!

@cis ooh chocolate

@cis why are you calling Paulo "Mr. Cereda"? That should be "Dr. (Ducktor) Cereda"

cis
@UlrikeFischer And you have to call me: Sir cis, your Grace.

2:39 PM
Hi, I'd like to import "prime" from another font. What is the code for this character? From the classes of symbols 0-7?
It's not punctuation ? Or is it...

@1010011010 in classic tex it's just ' In unicode-math using an OpenType math font it's U+2032
@UlrikeFischer new plan, Dr to be written as D(inne)r in @PauloCereda's case.

@DavidCarlisle and Dr. Dr. is then Ducktor Dinner or Dinner Ducktor?

@UlrikeFischer doesn't matter so long as it tastes good

3:09 PM
@DavidCarlisle ;-) You reminded me that I still have to do some christmas preparations ;-)

3:23 PM
@DavidCarlisle Yes indeed, that is the unicode number. I'm talking about the tex class of the symbol
I mean classes like \mathord, \mathop, \mathbin, \mathrel etc

@DavidCarlisle -- I assume that \addvspace won't work at the top (inside) a minipage? (See tex.stackexchange.com/q/510275 )

@DavidCarlisle it looks as if lualatex can again (or still or whatever) not input files without extension. The primitive \@@input works, but I guess \openin doesn't work.
\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
\makeatletter
\@@input makefile\relax
\input{makefile}
\end{document}

@1010011010 it's a mathord in a superscript

@DavidCarlisle Ah excellent Thanks

@1010011010 \showlists would have been quicker:-)
@UlrikeFischer oh great.

3:38 PM
@DavidCarlisle I got a notification in a older answer that the workaround with two braces doesn't work either: tex.stackexchange.com/questions/111747/…

@UlrikeFischer what happened to the expandable file exists tests, did we push that to a 2e release...

@DavidCarlisle oh no

@DavidCarlisle I don't remember but while looking for it I found your mail from october with this tex.stackexchange.com/a/511688/2388.
@DavidCarlisle but wouldn't this be in latex3?
@DavidCarlisle m3file001.lvt in l3kernel.

@UlrikeFischer well or :
\directlua{require("pdftexcmds")}
\edef\zz{\directlua{
oberdiek.pdftexcmds.filesize("\luaescapestring{makefile}")}}
\ifx\zz\@empty\else
\@@input{makefile}
\fi
@UlrikeFischer ah we should fix that in the upcoming -dev release then,
@UlrikeFischer \openin\tst={\@fil@f@und@unqu@t@d}

3:57 PM
@DavidCarlisle but as it was already found in october we seem to have forgotten it. Should we open an issue?
@DavidCarlisle I want at least one z!

@UlrikeFischer ooh ze letter z

4:18 PM
@UlrikeFischer Good plan
@UlrikeFischer That's what issue trackers are for :)

@JosephWright How do one write a file without extension with filecontents?

@UlrikeFischer Er ... Ask Frank?
@UlrikeFischer On Windows you just add .: you can't have an 'empty' extension

@DavidCarlisle -- Is this something that should be added to the amsmath users guide: tex.stackexchange.com/q/519510 ?

4:39 PM
@UlrikeFischer I think I have a working text purifier :)

@barbarabeeton possibly

@DavidCarlisle meow

@JosephWright what can it handle as argument?

cis
5:01 PM
I have the worsest table of all times.

I need "green" at position "red" (and then computation goes on).
But do not know how to do, in the carlisle-loop.

@cis why do two entries have .0 ?

cis
Öhhh, not using `int()` at this monent....

But!!!! I have a super idea.

I could work only with pgfplotstable.
Therefore, I have to create the algorithm by cols. And later I say: pgfpltstabeltranspose.
This could work!

I am an idea-fabric! But my poor brain - so much to think... :(

5:17 PM
@JosephWright I read the docu and this sounds all very good. Regarding math: could one grab the math and do something with it?

@cis why are you using pgfplots table at all? if you are calculating the entries anyway, why write them to a file just to read back?

cis
@DavidCarlisle I thought I have to calc the table by rows. And pgfplotstable does not create on use new rows. But it could be possible by columns too.

2 hours later…
6:56 PM
@cis but what is pgfplotstable doing for you here, why do you need it at all (but you haven't really said what you are trying to do)

@DavidCarlisle I told @cis more than once in various question (also on texwelt) that I don't think that pgfplotstable is the best choice ;-(

3 hours later…
10:51 PM
@CarLaTeX one of those is distinctly more sensible than the others.
