@egreg but try with pdftex/xetex/luatex the results are not even close
@egreg for example yours: \primitive=[unknown command code! (41, 1)].
00:37
@DavidCarlisle \toks0={\par}\expandafter\show\primitive\the\toks0
Since \primitive is followed by an expandable token (in its primitive meaning), it expands it.
@DavidCarlisle Consequence: you can't use \(pdf)primitive to show the meaning of a primitive, which is pointless anyway.
@egreg actually that's one that all three engines give same result
@egreg I think xetex just doesn't work:
\scrollmode

\ifx\primitive\undefined
\let\primitive\pdfprimitive
\fi

\let\zzz\hbox

\expandafter\show\primitive\zzz

\end
 \par=\par.

Anyone got experience with free/low cost SSL certs?
10:47
Bob T. has fixed the missing %, but now the code has \EDEF\BFDEF@ULT{\BFDEFAULT} which is slightly dubious, isn't it?
@JosephWright None. What about Let's Encrypt - Free SSL/TLS Certificates?
11:09
@JosephWright No. :(
Milan has been downvoted :)
@wilx Yes, I'm aware of that but it seems it has to be supported by your host
@CarLaTeX I'm still upvoted. ;-)
Happy 100th birthday, Kirk Douglas!

@PauloCereda Have you ever tasted 1℃?
@egreg No, only 4C. :)
There's been ice on the road here all week... today it's finally above freezing again
@PauloCereda So never tried -12℃ on a moped?
@egreg brrrrrrr
11:42
@egreg You have lake Garda that helps you! :)
@PauloCereda I'd like to move to Brazil for the winter!
@CarLaTeX Beware of hot weather. :)
12:07
@PauloCereda 24°C is a very nice temperature!
@CarLaTeX It is, but it's a deceiving parameter! :)
When I was in Barcelona, I faced a cold 28C!
:)

nice sandbox practice :)
@JosephWright I thought remembered you having a blog with some l3build examples? Or was it a tugboat talk, or...:
Thanks for the point. I read the documentation but I can not figure out how to use it to compare two log files. Can you provide a small example to start with? — TeXtnik 4 hours ago
@percusse git checkout master ;-)
@percusse Perhaps with git checkout stable for something complex (siunitx has two branches)
@DavidCarlisle I wrote something for TUGboat
@JosephWright git rebaseand squashing are my new nemesisesiseiss. nemesia?
@JosephWright looking if I can extract tuenc.def from utf8ienc.dtx
14:54
@JosephWright you could answer:-) (I'm on holiday)
@DavidCarlisle Will do later on (several urgent tasks this afternoon)
I truly hate when this happens
@JosephWright I'm rather the opposite, visiting parents:-)
@percusse rebase is OK for local typos, but I think one could overdo it
@JosephWright especially when 10 more people are pouring commits :)
14:57
@percusse Indeed
@percusse Don't you have a 'no rebasing once pushed' policy?
@JosephWright Scipy people only force it if there are too many commits that will clutter the merge.
Usually they take the last commit
@percusse This I take your word for: I'm used to an SVN-like approach with Git
@JosephWright I'm still learning anyways. It's really confusing at times. Maybe they do some other tricks as maintainers
@percusse 'Everything is really RCS'?
@JosephWright I think true programmers are not best people to design stuff :P
15:09
@percusse wow, scipy?! I owe you a beer, sir!
@PauloCereda :) I've been committing for some time now. It's addictive
@percusse You are now part of the arara documentation team.
@PauloCereda Oh no. :)

hi Paulo. How are you? Regards from Sicily.
Regard to all users into chat.
Can you have others support for a request?
Can I have some changes of the my question on link tex.stackexchange.com/questions/343117/…?
regards
hi Torbjon. Can you help me too for my question?
hi to all.
@Sebastiano to be honest the question should be closed as it seems to be an exact duplicate of the previous one. Unless you can edit it to ask a different question
Good evening. I would to have any changes. Is true that my question is similar, but I have put my source.
@Sebastiano If your question is "how do I use a specific font for a specific part of my document" (in this case the numbers), the general answer would be to see tex.stackexchange.com/questions/25249 I think. If your question is to make the numbers in the list larger, then try adding e.g. \large before \bfseries in the definition of benumerate.
If you can make changes, using your knowledge there are immensely grateful.
This is for my students.
18:11
@Sebastiano I honestly don't understand exactly what you want, which makes it hard to even attempt answering.
I repeated the same question because I could not change my old request. I immensely apologize to you for the many mistakes I make all kinds. Sorry with all my heart.
I wish I could change the font size of the numbers with a character that is very similar to that of the image - font Agenda Use Agenda for paragraphs fonts, and font optima (and that's ok) and to delete, or add something that how to render the page of a book of exercises only.
I'm not as fast as you to make changes with LaTeX. You know immediately strategies, shortcuts faster than me. I will also put a week to solve simple lines of my source.
Now I'm going off to do an errand for my mom. I send you my most sincere greetings from Sicily.

@percusse I set a beer bounty on a TikZ deck of french playing cards with a few customizations that I can set post-hoc
Alright, I've got the fronts done (with all face cards)!
Probably easier: does anyone want to fancy a crack at a back design?
19:07
@egreg I thought that Padua was closer to Verona, after looking at the map more carefully, I don't think the lake helps you very much :$

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii paulo. haw are you?
sorry: how
hiiiiiiii to all into the chat
This site is fantastic. All the users are excellent.
@PauloCereda Looks nice :) did you make that?
20:27
@CarLaTeX Not really: it's more than 100km to the lake from here.
Does anyone know of a good EPC editor? I really just need to make a color swap.
20:51
@egreg I didn't think it was so far away :o Milan-lake Garda is about 140 km...
*EPS :) And nevermind; I rigged something together.
@CarLaTeX About an hour with my bike to get to Peschiera. For the better places it takes longer because of heavy traffic in the summer. I'd say that Peschiera to Riva along the east coast takes slightly less than a couple of hours.
21:12
hey
anyone around?
i'm trying to debug an installation
would much appreciate some help
(i'm going to keep debugging on my own, but will check back every few minutes to see whether anyone responds)
@dbliss possibly:-)
@dbliss What's the issue?
@SeanAllred emacs of course
@egreg I know Basso Garda very well. I go to Sirmione every year for a couple of weeks. There are a lot of wonderful places my favourite are Malcesine and Punta San Vigilio. Unfortunately I haven't got a bike I go to the lake by car and go around by car or by ferry-boat.
@CarLaTeX Here it is:
21:23
@DavidCarlisle i'm trying to follow the instructions under section 3 here: chess.eecs.berkeley.edu/ptexternal/wiki/Main/LaTeX
@egreg Beautiful! I think it is the best means of transport for the lake tour!
@egreg one instruction i'm having trouble with is "I edited /usr/texbin/mktexpk and inserted --mapfile and the path to the fgy.map file. "
i don't have a file /usr/texbin/mktexpk
is there another location where this file could be, by default?
on a linux system (ubuntu)
@DavidCarlisle That was my first thought, but the seller obfuscated it
@dbliss I don't think this is a sensible instruction.
It's 5MB of garbage; emacs nearly threw up on me
21:28
@dbliss instructions look odd to be honest you shouldn't normally be messing with those files by hand and of course all references to miktex are spurious if you are on linux
@DavidCarlisle i see. any general advice for getting this package installed?
it looks like there is a more standard document class called ucbletter that achieves what i want.
@dbliss well fist thing I'd try is just type all teh files into the current directory and run latex on a test file, that might be all you need, it depends (I didn't look what was in the tar file. do you need the berkley font in the tar file or just the latex class in the zip?
everything depends on a file universityos.sty that i can't find anywhere after extracting the .tar.gz on that webpage
ok, i got something that works.
that was annoying.
thanks for dissuading me from going through with that original plan to mess with my whole latex setup.
21:52
@dbliss not following instructions copied from the internet is generally the best advice:-)
22:18
@CarLaTeX I've done several times both sides of the lake. You get one of the best sights coming down from Rovereto to Torbole.
