@yo' you could rename it but there's a plugin for renaming the login script that works
don't forget Akismet, otherwise thousands of spam comments fill the db (had thousands on nearly invisible fun/test blogs without it)

@StefanKottwitz OVH is a huge provider running thousands of websites, many of which are based upon wp, I'll leave i to them as my Plan A
@StefanKottwitz i shall try to run the santi
Antispam I used for the old blog....

@yo' ok :-) I just think a provider, even with a WP service, doesn't actively install WP security plugins by default

yo'
(sorry I"m on smartphone)
@StefanKottwitz no, they do not, but they have a firewall against DOS attacks
The Akismet thing scares me, they could easily collect tons of user data....
(i know google does exactly that all the time, but still...)

@yo' my provider has DDOS prevention too, it did not prevent a "normal" amount of attacks (looking like legal calls, not extremely many)

yo'
@StefanKottwitz let's see...
Now I'm off. Good night.

12:07 AM
@yo' yes, just talking!
I'm a bit frustrated by all the bad guys and bots attacking.
@yo' good night

Morning all
@StefanKottwitz :(

@JosephWright Morning.
@JosephWright two attacks last week. :-/

Given the number of mathematicians who hang out here (I am not of that tribe!), I thought I'd mention today's "Life of the Day" from the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography: James Joseph Sylvester (that URL will only point at the correct article today, I believe). A fascinating life!

@JosephWright -- is this evening the time for "answer the unanswered", or consider it a holiday and do it next week instead? (your avatar has changed, and i don't recognize you!)

@barbarabeeton Oh drat, forgot to set it up!
@barbarabeeton Don't know what you mean re. avatar: mine's a fixed image so should be OK

@JosephWright -- were you always a duck?

Joseph Wright has added an event to this room's schedule.

@barbarabeeton Yes :)

yo'
@barbarabeeton since ever, AFAIR

@barbarabeeton Before the duck was a picture of me in the garden, I think

yo'
but your's back to the strange (new, improper) one here... I'm sure I was seeing you purple again earier today...

@JosephWright -- oh. that's the one i remember.

yo'
@barbarabeeton actually, @Joseph was one of those I didn't recognize by face last year in Darmstadt :)

@yo' -- i see me as purple on my laptop, but as some strange spacy thing here. i'll try to do something with the image you so nicely found.

yo'
@barbarabeeton if you change your profile picture in your TeX.SE profile (tex.stackexchange.com/users/579/barbara-beeton), things should settle down in span of hours

3:02 PM
@yo' -- hmmm. first i need to find the notes i squirreled away about how to change it ...

yo'
@barbarabeeton tex.stackexchange.com/users/edit/579 and hovering over the profile picture shall show a gray "Change picture" button

@yo' -- okay. done. let's see what happens. thanks!

yo'
@barbarabeeton you're welcome

3:26 PM
@barbarabeeton: ^^ you are back! <3

@PauloCereda -- yippee!!!!!
for those of you who attended tug 2016, one of the speakers was federico garcia-de castro, of alia musica, pittsburgh. i just found this, which is what he does in his "day job".

Q: What would happen if an alien race imported a computer capable of 2^256 calculations per second?

user50224If I create a personal shortcut in Texmaker it has the shortcut Shift+F1..F10. I want to create a shortcut with Ctrl+w for example. How can I do that?

@TorbjørnT. I don't think it's completely off topic; there's at least a workaround that could be proposed either using tools available as part of the TeX distribution or by making sure R produces proper PDF. I guess I'd leave it open.

@AlanMunn Ok, fine.

@AlanMunn it is not abandoned -- I just used it in a comment -- and I still gets votes.

@percusse Would you like to answer tex.stackexchange.com/questions/213613/…?

9:28 PM
@UlrikeFischer Just kidding. I was reading it as you posted the comment.

@TorbjørnT. Why don't simply convert your comment to an answer?

@TorbjørnT. 'Do not do this'? Really, beamer is not designed to support labels at all

@UlrikeFischer If a clear duplicate exists, then I'd prefer closing, but I can write up an answer.
@JosephWright You know best.

@AlanMunn I know (and I also know that some of the unanswered questions are mine ... but I still care for them).

@TorbjørnT. I'll try again to come up with a technical answer: probably it's doable but just tricky

@TorbjørnT. Better close as unclear, since there's nothing in the question that the eventual answer could actually address.

@TorbjørnT. I would also close this one as unclear.
