Is this a good answer: askubuntu.com/a/1295550?

@technastic_tc I reported that answer in the previous comment.

@Natty tp
This question has the answer inside the question. I left a comment for the OP to add the solution as an answer. Perhaps a mod (@Zanna or anyone else) has a tool that can do that sooner, because the OP hasn't been on the site since November 6?

OT no repro - Edit: I'm dumb rip, I was running it in Chrome OS instead of Ubuntu's terminal. Working now.

@technastic_tc sdc doesn't work here. SmokeDetector was never actually here.
@BeastOfCaerbannog Mods can convert answer to an edit but not edit to an answer.
Feel free to post a CW answer and edit the question. If you do, ping me. I'll upvote.
@Natty tp
@Natty tp

@BeastOfCaerbannog OP didn't post an answer, and no way to convert an edit to an answer, so I can't think of anything special mods can do here. I suggest posting a CW answer if OP doesn't return to break it up themselves.

@Natty tp

oh haha after typing my message I saw Kulfy had written similar... sorry for repetition

@Kulfy my message was deleted. How did you see it? :‑O
what is the meaning of "CW answer"?

@Zanna No problem :)

1:06 PM
@technastic_tc by looking at its revision history

@technastic_tc I'm one of those who own this room. 😎

@Kulfy Ooo..
Who decides who becomes room owners of main rooms in official chat room?

@technastic_tc community wiki answer - you don't get reputation for upvotes on it and it can be edited by users with 100+ reputation

@technastic_tc Existing room owners?

@Zanna I never knew that that was an acronym..
@Kulfy when was this room created and who created it?

1:09 PM
That's a long history. I was made a room owner by jokerdino some months ago..

I feel it would be better if only mods can look into deleted messages in chat.. or at least that's my opinion. No offence.

Zanna, jokerdino, Eliah own the room since the beginning (I believe)

@Kulfy ok..
@Kulfy oh..

A: I saw something in chat I don't understand

RobotHumansExpressions: -.- - could be sarcastic, can mean fail or express disbelief o/, \o - Waving either hello or goodbye \o/ - excitement, exclaiming "yay!" (both hands in the air) /me - it's like "insert my name here" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - Shrug, I don't know ;P - Almost anything with a ; on the front indicates...

1:11 PM
but the rooms was frozen at the time I joined

@technastic_tc Now you know.

it had not been used for a long time
Anwar, jokerdino and I were working on a moderation project in another room, Ubuntu Regulators, but some people wanted to put a bot there
so jokerdino unfroze this room
so we could use it for our project
since then it has been used for various moderation purposes :)

"project"?

a project is a series of tasks that need to be completed in order to reach a specific outcome.

1:13 PM
yes - we were using a query that returned "unanswered" self-answered questions
the system considers a question unanswered if it has neither an answer that has a score of at least 1 nor an accepted answer

@Kulfy I do know the meaning of project. I just wanted to understand the context.

Oh well.

if the OP posted an answer, there's a good chance it was an upvoteable answer, or that it was not an answer (rather it should have been an edit or something)

@Natty tp

so the project was a way to review a lot of posts that could become "answered" if we upvoted their unappreciated self-answers (OP can't upvote own answers, and might not know how to accept them)
@technastic_tc ?
Sorry I didn't understand... we didn't assume that they hadn't wanted to post an answer

1:17 PM
Sorry. Go ahead.

most often we just upvoted the answer because it was a decent solution

Who decided the name of this room?

sometimes the answer is NAA or the question is no-repro (like, the answer by OP said something like "well idk what happened but suddenly it's working again")
@technastic_tc I don't know who originally created the room
it was called Crusaders of the Lost Downboat
but when it got unfrozen I said I don't want to be a crusader

@Zanna oh..
But the name sounds weirdly good.

(because of the historical connotations of the word)
haha it's better than "Ask Ubuntu General Room" as a name XD
anyway we did some good cleaning up through that project. I am hoping to resume it!

1:21 PM
@Zanna There was a proposal in meta to change the room name right? Any updates on that?
@Zanna So the project ended?

well it didn't change
@technastic_tc paused due to inactivity
it can resume any time

but the room is being used for more general purposes which is great

@Zanna :)
I felt that this room's aim was to close low quality posts and off-topic posts..

[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Potentially bad ns for domain in body (1): Git not configuring mail and username on ubuntu by Mahreen Athar on askubuntu.com

@technastic_tc well, it just seems like most of the moderation work that benefits from coordination is closing and deleting, but we also do a lot of salvaging and undeleting and reopening. Perhaps that hasn't been as prominent lately. This room has been relatively inactive for a while, unfortunately
Maybe one reason for that is that I have less need for coordination

@Zanna oh...
@Kulfy Thanks :)
@Kulfy it was there..

It was but it wasn't
Jul 1 at 5:19, by Eliah Kagan
@EliahKagan It doesn't enter the room even to post messages. The SE chat system allows any users with write access to a room to post messages in the room even without entering the room.

1:54 PM
@Kulfy that's confusing..
@Kulfy oh...
So which rooms does it enter?

Charcoal HQ and many more
I may not be in the room when I send "" type messages.
Sep 22 at 4:22, by Kulfy
@user3140225 "Close vote please". I'm using SECloseVoteRequestGenerator script which embed this cv-pls option near the flag option and allow me to send close vote request even without being in the room.

@Kulfy ok...
@Kulfy oh..

2:24 PM
@Kulfy Thanks for the suggestion!
@Zanna Thank you too!
I think I'll wait a couple of days for the OP to respond. If they don't, I'll post a CW answer.

2:48 PM
thanks :)

Q: Who started a chat room?

editionI'm assuming that the author of the first message of a chat room transcript was the one who established a chat room. If I'm wrong, how else can I find out who first established a chat room such as Lounge<C++>?

@technastic_tc "Existing room owners?" was supposed to be the reply for your other message.

ok.. I shouldn't have made it a reply. Sorry.

No problem :)
@BeastOfCaerbannog Well you can post an answer, edit the question and leave a comment. Of course you can wait for couple of days as well.
Just saying.

BTW, it would be great if someone answers this post:

Q: The 'Raiders of the Lost Downboat' chat room

technastic_tc Who created the 'Raiders of the Lost Downboat' chat room? What is the room currently used for? What was the room used for? Who came up with the name 'Raiders of the Lost Downboat'? Who were the room owners at the creation of the chat room? Who are the room owners of the chat room now?

Q: Happy 10th anniversary to Ask Ubuntu!

ZannaAsk Ubuntu was launched on 10/10/2010, so it's now just about 10 years old! To celebrate we are running some workshops / lessons in chat. @Zanna Doesn't it primarily deal with installing Arch Linux or am I mistaken?

@technastic_tc yes, but we have how do I install Windows after I've installed Ubuntu etc, so, it's at least borderline
anyway it's already answered

This question is opinion-based, but it seems that the OP just wanted to know what the default terminal in Ubuntu is. I'm not sure what should be done.
