no longer needed (after this much time, it's just noise)

not actually unclear - it's asking how to cause a command or script to run when a device's MAC address changes, which should be answerable.
not unclear - or if there is specific technical information that is needed, that should be requested (and in that case it could be closed as unclear before it is provided)

seems like a misplaced answer. Uninstalling Ubuntu Desktop meta package and removing WSL are two completely different things.
Should that be closed against that question since method/command to uninstall package is same
this question can also serve as a good dupe target, I think.

The two most recent reports shown in SEBotics were not shown here.

3:15 PM
@EliahKagan SEBotics is head quarters of Natty for askubuntu . Headquarters is all … romm(this room) is must pass threshold >=4 before post. I am not see that post but I think same as SO.

@Natty report https://askubuntu.com/a/1252843/816190
The conversation starting from above might be relevant
Natty in the past didn't report a post which had 7.0 score.
Jun 22 at 18:39, by Eliah Kagan
@EliahKagan Natty doesn't have experimental detections that it only posts in SEBotics and SOBotics, or different thresholds for those and other rooms, does it? @Kulfy
Jun 22 at 18:45, by Kulfy
@EliahKagan I don't think it has some threshold like Smokey. Even if it does that post had score of 7.0 which I think is enough to be posted here.
Well this had 3.5 score.

Ohh. I under stand Natty behavior well on SOBotics. But I miss some thing here. Thanks .

(unrelated) dupe and reposted

This answer is from Mod Bhargav for similar question. Headquarters is all … SoBotics (this room) is >=4
Not mine.
:D

But we're observing different behaviour 🤷

3:34 PM
May be there are separate room rule for site. Needs Bhargav clarification or needs to debug code. :D . That is open-source :P

And written in Java

Yep :D. ........... IF you want and that's where askubuntu miss NAA, may I ping Bhargav in back channel :) .
Low threshold or something we improve ?

Bhargav was in this room when 2020 election results were declared.
@Shree I'm not if threshold thing really applies here.

just walk across the country and talk to him about it

Indo-Nepal border might be experiencing issues due to COVID-19 :/

3:46 PM
yes but you are on the correct side of the border

I have to cross inter-state borders and go on a 14 days quarantine before meeting him :/

@Kulfy Ok thanks. Your site , your room your rule, I just want to participate and love Natty.Try to help . If I over talk sorry. I missed to congrats @Zanna for diamond. So give me some place to congrats her.

@Shree I appreciate your contributions. Did I say something rude/offensive? Feel free to point out.

Please feel free to talk. Nobody will say anything against you or anyone else for talking in here.

Nop at all. Language barrier. if you feel so sorry. I apologize.

3:56 PM
@Kulfy I meant, "I'm not sure if threshold thing really applies here."
I hope we're having constructive conversations here :)

@Kulfy Not feel bad. I read government school and my Eng is not so cool. I specially point government school because you know better. Every one think I am rude or some thing. I struggle so much to achieve this point. So sorry. Still I apologize and sorry if you find some of my word's rude.

sorry sir, you are not rude. If you want to be rude, you have to try harder :)

:)

Naah. You weren't rude. Since past few months I'm struggling with a weird situation. In my head, I think that I've typed the words but in reality, I didn't. 🤷

(unrelated) this question is quite a bad one (based on an utterly false premise) imho
not sure why it got a couple of upvotes

and then explicitly claimed so once asked.
Upon request, they provided a screenshot of YouTube, and bang, the claim fell apart.
(see all the comments for details)
Now the question is kinda self-contradictory with the new screenshots.

@pomsky looks like a wide monitor issue
solution: flip the monitor horizontally and proceed further

@jokerdino Yes, specific to websites with "rigid"/fixed-width design (non-responsive design) on a wide monitor; but OP made it sound like a browser issue and falsely claimed it's happening with all websites.

benefit of doubt, they might not have known it

Hola
Had any questions for me? ...
No need to ping me, lol. Just call me out in a message and I'll jump in :D

7:07 PM
@BhargavRao Is there any threshold by which Natty decides to not to report posts in this room?

7:38 PM
Let me check
It should report 3.5 and above.
If there were missing reports, then I think it's because of chat throttling....
Hmm. I see a lot of back offs, yeah. Let me know if you find another missing report in future, I'll check the logs at the exact minute.

It seems to happen rather often.

Uh oh.
I think one way to get rid of it, is to post the report in here first before SEBotics
So that it'll get throttled there, rather than here...

It's not most posts. I'm not sure how often. It's not an new problem, and as far as I know the problem is not getting worse (nor better). These search results have a number of examples (though also discussion of other stuff). I've been meaning to ask about it and/or report a bug... but I never did.

Ahhh, those examples help, thanks
Looks like it gets throttled on the third message

The main reason I don't know how often it happens is that often I report a post to Natty and it says the post was already reported, and I don't always check if I missed it or if it really wasn't posted here (since I know reporting an already-reported post to Natty gives tp feedback anyway).
But I think a significant fraction--perhaps a third, and I am just guessing--of "Post already reported" cases may be where Natty reports the post in SEBotics but not here.

7:53 PM
Oh my, that's a lot. Sorry. :(

Well, that's just a guess.
Like, I could be estimating wrong.
But I figured those search results might also help.

Ahh, gotcha.
But yeah, it's definitely because of chat throttling.
I think doing it the other way should be fine.

If Natty were to use a more compact reporting format in SEBotics, such as the format it uses here, then would it post fewer messages and thus get throttled less?
@BhargavRao Ah, okay.

Yeah, that makes sense too. The reason why we went for that longer format is for users with <10k rep to have some knowledge about it, but given that people just use Sentinel for it ... that point might be moot right now.

I would not have expected that the volume of messages Natty posts here and in SEBotics would be enough for throttling to be a problem. For example, the number of messages it posts in both rooms combined seems far less than the number SmokeDetector posts in just Charcoal HQ. Is the issue that Natty is being throttled based on its activity on the SO chat server (SOBotics activity) as well?
Oh, sorry.
Wait... no now I'm just confused.
I thought I was confusing throttling in the SE API with throttling in chat.
But actually I think I wasn't and we're both talking about throttling in chat.
So yeah... why does Natty seem to get throttled with so many fewer chat messages than SmokeDetector? Am I just undercounting Natty's messages?

8:00 PM
Throttling is just based on the number of messages that it posts at the same time. So if we post one message every 5 seconds or so, we'll never get throttled. If we post say 3~4 messages at the exact same time, which Natty does, then we'll get throttled.
I remember adding 1 second delays before, but then we started seeing issues where the reports were delayed by 3~4 minutes.

Oh, I see.

Looks like I'm hitting that on the third one
Yep, always the third message.
So to fix this ... I need to do: 1. Stop posting those "Some Error Occurred" messages 2. Call Raiders before SEBotics
Let me see if I can do it sometime this weekend

Thanks!

Thanks for reporting :)

You're welcome... though thanks really go to @Kulfy. :)
I just showed up after you already started looking into it.
I'm curious why adding 1 second delays sometimes results in 3-4 delays.
It seems to me that there should be some way to add delays that don't cause that, perhaps by placing each message into a queue from which messages are separately dequeue and posted one per second.
Or maybe that's a feature that should go in ChatExchange rather than Natty.
Or maybe it should not go anywhere and I'm missing something that would make it not a good idea.
@EliahKagan results in 3-4 minute delays I mean.

8:26 PM
Yeah, it needs to be handled by ChatExchange... Unfortunately the creator of ChatExchange was last seen in 2017 :\
