@IanC #FollowBack ;)
@bmike I really like that picture! What's your age (round about)? I'm 23.

Is following symbolic, or do you get any kind of notification or anything?

Here's a picture from a recent trip I made down to Flagstaff, AZ from minneapolis a couple may's back

@TimothyMuellerHarder I am still waiting for a suggested edit to popup :-)

@TimothyMuellerHarder Thanks for posting the link.

9:03 PM
@gentmatt That's classified at the moment ;-)

@bmike No prob :)
@bmike That's like a 10 year age difference! (in comparison to the profile pic)

@daviesgeek Not sure we need an alert for that. We'll close 'em as we come to 'em.

@jaberg :-)

@bmike I don't believe that's you. ;)

@TimothyMuellerHarder Are you talking about twitter?

9:05 PM
@jaberg I haven't run for a year and a half - soon I will be able to again :-)

@jaberg Since there's a mod here, I posted it.

@daviesgeek Oh, it says 5,001 for me...

Ooh, a non-mod closed question. Cool!

@bmike Not what I meant at all Mike. But I'm glad you will be able to resume. I have no excuse for not getting myself onto the bike, or into the kayaks other than state of mind.

@TimothyMuellerHarder Yup. 5K + 1

9:06 PM
@gentmatt Shoot, never mind! total misunderstanding.

@daviesgeek When things are slow - sometimes it's nice to post a link to something - but when this site is so busy - there's really no need to interrupt chat with meta stuff like that just to keep the room unfrozen :-)

@gentmatt Sure.

@bmike Sorry. :-]

@daviesgeek Again, if mods see a problem, they'll tend to them. If a problem is truly earth shattering, flag it instead of posting a pointer.
Plus what mike said because he types faster than me. ;)

@jaberg Sorry 'bout that. Won't happen again. :-)

9:08 PM
@jaberg It's just I miss my hiking and road trips on the motorcycle - that's all I meant. My beard is a huge disguise - changes everything (as does the long hair) When I'm out in the sun it gets much lighter :-)

@daviesgeek You need to do what you feel is right. I'm just sharing my unrequested insight—but it is a little bit like the boy who cried wolf. One day you'll point us to something important and nobody will go.

That picture brought back good memories of back country hiking in Zion with my mom.
And my current avatar was taken in Oregon at the end of the Hood to Coast relay.

Quick question: I am in the /review tab of AD and I see a "1" next to the suggested edits. However, when I click on it, there aren't any suggested edits. What's happening?
@jaberg Understood and point taken.

I really, really miss that - hope I can find a spot on a team this year and certainly next year.

So to provide alternate fodder for discussion, I was trying to post an answer from my iPad this morning and was quite proud that I had thought to provide web uploads of screenshots from DropBox. Sadly, I got an unsupported type error from the AD site. Any suggestions for workarounds. (I can meta or research this later, just looking for quickie suggestions here)

9:10 PM
@daviesgeek Your edit is pending - the site won't let you approve your change, but the code for the icon doesn't know this fact. There is one edit pending - just not one you can handle. (unless you have a sock puppet and make me put on my mad mod face)

@bmike I'm missing travel myself. And the natural conditioning that came from trying to keep up with my ex. Very little motivation to do stuff since I got here.

@bmike That's what I was kinda thinking, but since I'm new to it, I didn't know. Thanks!!

@bmike I have a bunch of Zion photos too. Most beautiful US Park in my experience. Now a bittersweet memory.

(that's not really a mad face, but people tell me I look pissed off / disgusted when they first see this shot...)

@bmike I'm not really flush these days, but if you do find a team, be sure to hit me up. One of my Rover travel buddies is (currently at least) a survivor—he and I are headed off to Moab in October—and I would want to make a small gesture in his honor.

9:17 PM
Looks like the sun in your eyes to me

@stuffe Suns behind him--look at the sky. Windburn maybe.

The expression, not the composition.

I'm pedantic about lighting. ;)

damn photographers....
@jaberg And acoustics....

Actually, his face reminds me of a (younger and far more handsome) version of myself (though he doesn't look like me) during allergy season.
@stuffe Hmmm. I wonder if that's really true any more. I like good sound, but there are definitely bang for the buck factors involved.

9:20 PM
looks like a TOPIC OF THE DAY to me :)
here's me in a mystery US state.
When I was a youngster, with hair and stuffe
2

Does the topic of the day involve photos of ourselves with really long hair, photos of ourselves with different hair, or photos of ourselves in natural settings?
Next time you're Montana I'll meet you for a beer at The Stockman.

I'm going for a theme of "When I were a lad, in the Great Outdoors, being considerable more/less hirsute that at present"
bonus points for pointing at a sign that bears your name

@stuffe Tons of signs like that in Germany, but I have no photos.
But I'm going digging in the Archives.

Here's my @bmike tribute picture
In a different mystery US state...
I can do road trips too :)

A much younger me and a former runner-up Miss Texas (bodybuilder) and software marketing person in Washington Sq. Park, NYC.
This is the last known photo of me with long, or even significantly present, hair.
Me on an undisclosed rock, improving my mind pre-ebook.
BTW, @stuffe, big bonus points if you can identify which Texas software company that young lady worked for. I'll point you in the right direction, they may have caused you to meditate a time or two.

9:35 PM
Grrr!
Mac Mini/Amiga cross?

@stuffe I don't think so. Now I have to confess, I can't remember the name of the company--or their product. I'm trying to tickle my brain!

do you meditation or mediation?

@JasonSalaz More of the former than the latter

hum
eh

@stuffe Anyhow, it was an Amiga software company out of Texas.
One more on the topic of Meditation and then I must go for a bit:

9:47 PM
Me on Halloween:

- no hair visible

My Gravatar is really the best (current) picture I have of me.
Oh, cool. I found a giant version of it.
Yeah, I don't have long hair.

Gotta go guys.
Keep the follically challenged pics coming :)

Peace out.

10:17 PM
Everybody is posting pictures of themselves...

;)

Nice...

I found a few photos of gentmatt here:

I see what you did there.

@KyleCronin Haha! I feel so naked now.

@gentmatt I suggest turning safe search on then :)

10:30 PM
Just for fun:
Going for real now :)

Ok, here's a more real picture...
And another one...
I've really tried to vote more today, but I only got to 25...

Isn't that the daily voting cap?

No, the cap is 40.
Depending on the ratio of questions/answers you vote on it's a bit less.

10:59 PM
Just got the all-time awesomest score on NARQ—my second game! :D
(For Apple, natch)
And just because:

Looks 'shopped.

@AndrewLarsson No, actually I am completely greyscale. It's a biological defect similar to albinism, but obviously not the same.
;)

Makes sense.

11:15 PM
I think you should see a doctor about that.
I need to go home. I'll probably be on later tonight (today?).
Bye.

Bye!
@Moshe Good and thorough. Great answer!

11:49 PM
@stuffe this is the first I saw of this:

/me already has a profile picture :)
Well, half of one. The other half is camera.

Anyone have a solution to this?

Q: Can I globally change the cmd-Q shortcut to require holding for two seconds, like the option in Chrome?

Timothy Mueller-HarderMany, many times, I accidentally press ⌘+Q when I meant to close a tab or window, or switch applications. When I saw the option in Google Chrome to require the shortcut to be held, I was overjoyed. Problem is, I use Safari. So, in short: How can I make the "hold command-Q" shortcut universal acr...

@NathanGreenstein A camera that separates you from that which you are photographing. (I'm writing a blog post on this for a local photo blog.)
