What happens when a gacha minmax player plays Pokémon?

> Shuckle with max def EV and IV and +def nature at level 100 (614)
Power swap changes that to attack.
Noibat with 0 Def EV and IV and -def nature at level 1 (4)
Metronome boost at max 100% (x2)
Shuckle +6 attack is +300% (x3)
Noibat -6 def is -300%
Defense curl doubles iceballs power
Forests curse gives noibat a 3rd type, grass. (Flying, Dragon, Grass)
Noibat has now a 8x weakness to ice.
Protean switches the users type to the move, shuckle becomes an ice type and gets STAB +50% (1.5x)
Huge power doubles attack stat (shuckle without counting boosts is now at 1228 attack)

@InvaderSkoodge You know that Combee is one of the mons that has clear gender dimorphism, right? Meaning you never needed to catch those since you could just "respaw" the area instead if no female is available.

@SPArcheon I found a few ways since to tell which is which. Also catching one takes less time than trying to determine its gender.

@Wipqozn I'm not that far in yet, Pokemon are only mid-20s, but so far it's the best Pokemon game in years.

@InvaderSkoodge I might have to give it a go. I bounce off the Pokemon games because of just how easy they are, but it sounds like the new focus on this one means lack of difficulty isn't really an issue, since combat isn't a main focus (sort of).

The combat is rebalanced, too.

Pokemon have more health and hit harder, so you can't just grind wild fights as easily.

Like it usually only takes a few wild pokemon fights for some of my pokemon to start fainting.

So there's a balancing act between avoiding, catching, and combat.

so i have an entire pasture for alphas, appropriately named "Alphas"

the pasture after that is for unowns. i named it "Bets"

When I used to organize boxes in other pokemon games I had one specifically for new arrivals.

i do like that they give rewards for releasing though and don't guilt trip you about it

I'll come back to that later. If you "own" a pokemon then you can get research for it incidentally if you run into another in the wild.

If you haven't ever caught it, I think it still counts but it backlogs until you catch one.

There isn't really a bonus for getting anything past research level 10.

yeah, but it's a lot easier for you to have your pokemon use strong moves like x-scissor or slash repeatedly than wait for a wild pokemon to use them and possibly faint your party members

Yeah, but if I incidentally see wild/trainer ones use it naturally, it will be less times I have to do it when I get back to that pokemon later.

If I grind a move now and then incidentally see wild pokemon use that move later, I've "wasted" that time.

It's not really a big deal, overall.

I'm just prioritizing getting one of each thing for now.

i'm ambivalent on the sleeping change. on the hand, it feels better for competitive but it's more annoying for trying to capture pokemon now

freeze -> frostbite is definitely more appreciated
