Hi all. Any other games like Microsoft Flight Simulator? Which don't have those highly detailed and ultra realistic controls (I know they are complex as they are meant for professionals and pilots).

I want a little simpler version where graphics are not that heavy and controls are for casual gaming for entertainment.

@Vikas It probably has a graphics option. No idea on controls though.
Maybe this: store.steampowered.com/app/269950/XPlane_11 ? No idea on controls! but graphics are certainly a lot more on the lighter side. Might be worth looking more deeply into.

So apparently War Thunder players leaked confidential military documents... For at least the third time

11:16 AM
@Wipqozn I just checked looks like it is also for professionals and pilot aspirants 😅 The controls are realistic and overwhelming for me. Thanks anyway. I'd try to find similar

@Vikas would you consider space dogfighting games?
Or does it have to be in the atmosphere?

@Nzall Yeah, mainly travel rather than actions or fights. So I can travel and see world from above, experience landing and take off etc. because I might never experience the same in real life 😅
I love the game Extreme Landings in Microsoft store, but it has very low graphics, just like a mobile game. It's too simple, but well built.

11:37 AM
Keep in mind that you can automate a lot of things in MFS

@Vikas I distinctly remember a classmate playing that on his iphone like uhhhhhhhhhh
4-5 years ago
so yeah, it's a mobile game, and quite an older one

1:12 PM
@Vikas are you particularly interested in it being planes, specifically, or anything that lets you fly around? Real-world, or are fictional worlds also in scope?

1:23 PM
Real world - Yes, fiction - No. Only planes. I like to have experience of flying a passenger aero plane mainly.

If you still don't understand, I'd explain in a different way:

I need something like Euro Truck Simulator. I enjoying doing tasks and free driving. But I need this for flying i.e., planes. And not too many controls.
@ave Yeah, but controls were simple but not less. Enough to play and plug. But it's just that it was way too simple and graphics are only mobile level. I need something mid graphics. Not low not heavy.

1:45 PM
Alright -- figured I'd ask since there's lots of games about being (or turning into) a bird, or where you have a hang-glider or a wingsuit or whatever.
Off the top of my head there's X-Plane, AeroFly, and Orbiter, but those are all fairly hardcore "we simulate every button" style sims with no "arcade controls" option
There's Flightgear, which apparently features "simplified controls" for some planes, but it's not clear if that's "simplified" by flight sim standards or just by comparison to the real-world plane being modeled
It's free, so you could always download it and give it a look

2:08 PM
@ToxicFrog Doesn't Microsoft Flight Simulator have a wide array of assistants and automation built-in?
Like, last time I checked, you could have everything happen automatically in the game

Yeah honestly MSFS is probably the best bet here though given what I recall about @Vikas' hardware situation they may have issues running it at all (though I also had mixed results just now, but you can delegate a lot of stuff to an AI copilot)
Though I mean it has been optimized a bunch since initial release so it may be fine
It runs on xbox now

Last time I ran it was I think 4-5 months ago, on a 6600K and a 1070
I think the really problematic stuff for me was the dodgy download system, because I had to spend 3 days downloading it

Yeah to be fair I tried it on... a 960m and some i7 I forget which did not work

Even though my home internet is fast

@Nzall I have no idea, since I haven't played it and Vikas ruled it out in their original question

2:56 PM
@Unionhawk yeah the game is perfect for my experience, but my system can't handle it further it is only for Pro users.
thanks all anyway

3:08 PM
I like how there are stars from August still in the sidebar

3:29 PM
@fredley Let's fix that shall we
oh, apparently that didn't fix it
it removed something else? I have no idea how stars work

@Nzall You see this sort of behaviour is exactly what's wrong with this chat room.
You want to get starred, don't put 'I have no idea how stars work' as a suffix to another message.
Put it in its own message

I have no idea how stars work

like I said

There now, that wasn't so hard was it

@fredley apparently it is, because it took a coffee mod to explain it to me

Coffee mod, Lifehacks superuser

4:05 PM
@fredley Yeah Bridge is a depressing place now.

@Wipqozn everybody's just less easily impressed because we're super old now

@Wipqozn Well... your face is a depressing place now. >:(

apparently, this theatre close to me closed last year, which goes to show you how my moviegoing habits have changed

1 hour later…
6:45 PM
@Yuuki Honestly, I think the age of theaters as we used to know them is over
I think that theaters would be better suited as an entire experience filling an entire evening, rather than just being a part of an evening.
