@PrivatePansy In the Brussels case the biggest bombs were left at home because the taxi was too small. And the bomber with the biggest bomb in the airport got cold feet and did not blow his stuff up. Same for the other place that was bombed.

There was some article awhile back that said that second and third generation American citizens are more likely to become radicalized than first-generation immigrants.

Still, not all jihadis that come here are here for terror. There are some that come to subvertively radicalize citizens

The idea being that these first-generation immigrants came to America to seek a better life and out of a belief that America provides more freedom and liberty than their home country.

Whereas second/third-generation tends to suffer from a sense of cultural identity crisis (am I American or <original country>?) and are more susceptible to being radicalized.

I like phones for that: I play on my desk, while lying down, while in kitchen, cooking, on the road (as in in bus or metro), etc. But phones can't run any complex games. That's what makes me consider it tbh. Only place I can use the dock in all those places I use it is "on my desk" with my external screen. But it's better than nothing. I've been playing these Evolution games by Tapps and decided to see if anything happens when you earn all achievements. The problem is that I have gotten all achievements except one: "Superb Primate". The description reads "Create the Supreme Being." Now, I have gotten Monkey King leveled to 5...

@GodEmperorDune Yeah, it's tricky in this case though since it seems to be in direct response to a perceived immediate threat by the IC. It's heavy-handed and inconveniences a ton of people, but no one wants to be the one to have brushed something specific off and have a plane get blown up :/

Granted, we'll see how long it lasts. If it's really an indefinite measure it's not workable

@TimStone but as @avery pointed out, the "attackers" can just fly to an unaffected country, then fly in with laptops ready to crash the plane or w/e

if you can crash the plane with a laptop then there's a bigger problem

hell, if you can crash the plan with an ereader then there's a huge problem

(I mean my ereader runs linux, so uhh...)

@GodEmperorDune Long-term, but if say, there was a belief an attack was to be carried out right now, it would disrupt the plot

Sudden changes in travel activity are likely to be flagged, etc

If we're still dealing with this ban a few weeks from now then it really is just stupid, though

FWIW I was able to board the plane without even getting my bags checked here (in domestic flights, even though it's required -- they started allowing people in and only one of my bags were checked in and they just said "ok whatever just go in"), so yeah, bans don't fix anything, adding more checks make people ignore them and workarounds doesn't fix the issue but just make everything harder, as I said the checks can be potentially skipped anyways.

That doesn't sound like the kind of thing that's limited in time, or intended to foil specific plots

They wouldn't have said so even if it was, though

The Congressional support would suggest that they were briefed on something that justified it

They did, sorta, given that people were encountering the ban before anyone officially announced it

like instead of announcing it, just informing airports as a special guidance for a set of days and flgihts
