@fredley Is this about him not inviting Twitter ostensibly due to them refusing to make an emoji for #HillaryForPrison?

> We’re going to make it a lot easier for you to trade across borders,
How does that work with his plans to kill of trade agreements?

@Arperum The other question is why he's telling this to tech CEOs.

@Yuuki Who the fuck even knows any more

I mean maybe Amazon and Tesla might be interested in that, but I don't see how Google and Microsoft would even care.

"Hey Facebook, know how you've got that list of all the people who are Muslim?" - Trump, probably

4:06 PM
Nothing like having to run the distribution build again because I forgot an underscore. (kill me)
Also, three successive failed builds because IE doesn't support Array.prototype.findIndex or Array.prototype.find.

Gotta get that es5-shim if you have to support old IE :P

@TimStone Well find and findIndex are actually ES6 apparently.

MINOR DETAILS
es6-shim it is

Yeah, so I settled for a basic for loop search.
Doesn't look nearly as pretty. :|

@fredley hrrrrkk

@Yuuki It took me a long time to work out what it was supposed to be

Access database dependencies are not fun.

@fredley eww, tubgirl cup

@fredley This Is Why Trump Won.

@GodEmperorDune why did you remind me that

Did anyone else just get the Google opinion rewards survey "are you the chief marketing officer of a company"?
(i assume it goes on if the answer is yes but like that's extremely specific)

@Unionhawk follow up question "do you want to work in the federal government?"

@Sterno Same

5:09 PM
> While Clinton supporters tend to take a very literal view of honesty, that is, getting your facts and numbers correct, Trump supporters believe that honesty has more to do with saying what is actually on your mind rather than filtering it for your audience.

@Wipqozn The 3-4 hours I played of it so far were good

i feel this accurately sums up my views, but if Trump was "speaking his mind" then Trump's mind is a paranoid, chaotic place

@GodEmperorDune Given how "draining the swamp" is going, I think the correct version should be "Trump supporters believe that honesty has more to do with saying what the audience wants to hear than what is actually on your mind".

@GodEmperorDune you mean, like, actually telling the truth vs making shit up but that's OK if you believe it?

5:11 PM
@Yuuki see i am trying not to go anti red tribe here

@GodEmperorDune That's not so much anti-red tribe as anti-Trump.

@Yuuki well Trump has been a con man since he started a business
but everyone likes politicians to say what they want to hear
it was great when Clinton talked about women's rights and science based policy

That's a big part imo

It just turns out that Clinton supporters wanted to hear... Positive progress towards climate change and other issues, and Trump supporters wanted to jail Clinton, and also in some cases re-form the Soviet Union

And yet there's the complete opposite tactic from the so-called red tribe that's apparently okay.
Remember Palin and other conservative politicians talking about "the heartland" and how they're the "real America"?
They pander to rural citizens, talking about how they're "salt of the earth" and how they "know how reality works" and how those liberal "city-dwellers" don't know "real America" and they eat it up.

5:17 PM
@Yuuki again, politicians on both sides pander and I don't necessarily have a problem with pandering

I do

If you’ve ever wanted to get a statistic about Stack Overflow or your favorite Stack Exchange site, you may have used our Stack Exchange Data Explorer, aka SEDE. (This is separate from our regular "data dumps" meant for researchers and others who want to work with large chunks of the content.) Launched in 2010, SEDE is a web tool you can use to share, query, and analyze the data from our network. It’s updated weekly with all our latest changes and additions, minus a few sensitive things like people’s email addresses and voting behavior.

On both sides i think it's horrible

So we can do cross site queries now?

5:18 PM
people say they want politicians to tell them the truth but they would go batshit insane if the truth was told to them

Urban-on-rural condescension is apparently "why Trump won" but nobody seems to care that this whole divide has been fed to everyone like pigs in a trough.

"hey guys, climate is fuct, it will take hundreds of years to correct, sorry bout that"

But oh noes, it's the "libruls" who did this.

"all the money for the past 50 years has flowed from the lower and middle classes to the upper class and we're going to accelerate that, just deal with it"
"automation is coming for your jobs so that company owners and shareholders make more money, go start your own business and be a job creator if you want to survive"

Frankly, America needs an intervention. You have two groups of people that cannot even talk to each other. Not a good way to be.

5:22 PM
"there will not be enough full time jobs for everyone that wants to work, and we have no idea how to fix that (or even if we should fix it)"

I'm just completely annoyed at this spate of articles on how liberals to have learn this lesson on how to "talk nicely" to Trump supporters. Maybe my view on things are a bit different being a relatively left-leaning person in Texas, but my entire life has been spent moderating my political views and "talking nicely" because you can bet nobody "talks nicely" to anyone not conservative down here.

Speaking of terrible, apparently NC is holding a special legislature session to strip the governor of power before McWhatshisface leaves

@Unionhawk ughhhhhhhh

@Yuuki I haven't read the articles, but I'm guessing the point has nothing to do with being nice and everything to do with actually being heard and convincing people of your views
Obviously, they're not winning you over with their approach either

@Sterno i don't want to convince the other tribe that my solutions are correct, I want them to understand what the problems are so that we can debate the solution.

5:26 PM
@GodEmperorDune Seems like a legit approach.
The one article I read about this, right after the election, was basically "You can't just tell the other side they're stupid for not agreeing with you and expect that to work"

@Sterno Oh right, you ghosted that first mission like a total boss

I mean their approach was to use the words "terrific" and how anyone who wasn't a trump supporter was a "libtard snowflake who can't handle the truth that Mexicans Muslims wall #lockherup #pizzagate"

@Sterno yes that is a dumbheaded approach for any debate

99% of politics on social media is just calling the other side stupid
Probably about 80% of political Bridge chat is that way :P

@Sterno and that's as terrible as @Wipqozn stealing 40 cakes

5:28 PM
@Unionhawk "They started it" isn't a good reason to use the same "strategy"

@Wipqozn may have stolen cakes but I stole his mom's heart.

So forgive me for not accepting "we just need to understand trump supporters"
Especially given that his number one fan is Vladimir Putin

i've said before that trump supporters have legitimate grievances, I just think that Trump is not going to address those greivances

If you really think what you just described covers all the people who voted for Trump, then you definitely don't understand Trump supporters

@Sterno Man, I wish some of these Texas conservatives read that article for the years leading up to the Trump victory.

5:30 PM
@Yuuki They will too once it flips and they lose

@Sterno not all, just the loudest of the silent majority

@Unionhawk The loudest group is not the same as the largest group

Silent not-even-a-plurality

Anyway, the article I saw wasn't written by a conservative. I'm betting most weren't. It was written by a liberal, and the point was "Guys, maybe we should change something so we don't lose this way next time." You can argue nothing should need to change, or that the change wouldn't be effective, but I think the point was "Let's change what we need so that we can win", not "Let's be nice"

@Ash Shiny is growing on me, but I still think it's the weakest song on the soundtrack. Though it's a really strong soundtrack, so I don't think that counts as a diss.

5:32 PM
@Sterno You're too old for my mother

@Sterno i mean the left has been bad at messaging for a long time

@GodEmperorDune And now we're all becoming painfully aware of that fact

Obama was pretty good at it but even he couldn't sell obamacare

@Sterno And I'm saying as someone who's been forced to change to even have a foot in the political door in my climate, change isn't going to do anything.

Okay.

5:34 PM
Spekaing of Trump

he couldn't sell THE HEALTHCARE PLAN DREAMED UP BY A CONSERVATIVE THINK TANK to conservatives

Nobody is spekaing here

@Wipqozn Oh boy, that's going to go over well.

i'm split about the hamilton electors thing

5:35 PM
> Denver Judge Elizabeth Starrs also ruled that any electors who fail to do so can immediately be replaced when the Electoral College convenes Dec. 19. She responded to a request from Colorado's secretary of state, who was seeking a way to prevent electors from diverging from the winner of the state's popular vote.
I mean, that sounds appropriate.

@Sterno yeah just saw that

"Yeah, you can go your own way, but we'll replace you after you do"

@Wipqozn That's what they are supposed to do.

I misunderstood at first

yeah i wouldn't like trump in the short term, but long term that's just going to piss half the country off more

5:36 PM
I thought they meant Trump won, but lost the popular vote there
because gerrmandering

@Wipqozn Of course you did because clickbait headlines are killing us all

> Chris Jackson of the Colorado attorney general's office argued in court Tuesday that the effort undermines democracy.

Iirc if it ends up in a 269-232-x, it's a contested election

@Sterno yeah.

@Wipqozn you can't gerrymander a district that encompasses the entire state

No, the electoral college undermines democracy, at least in the way it's currently set up.

Q: Is it possible to do a cooperative double match 2 players vs 2 cpu?

pinckermanIf I select double match mode with a second controller connected, I can't figure out how to play a cooperative double match with a friend against two CPU players. Once I press A the game puts the second player automatically in the other team. How can I change this? Is it even possible?

Oh, I guess there's this too: The Colorado electors could face up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine if they defy the law and vote for someone other than Clinton.

@MBraedley it does, but that's the system we agreed to before the election

But there's a longshot plan to install someone like Kasich or Romney or someone in order to compromise such that the Electoral college can undo Russian fuckery

5:38 PM
@Unionhawk yeah looks like that's what that article was about

Can someone tell me exactly what the Russian fuckery was? Was it more than leaking hacked emails?

Some electors planning to vote for Romney instead of Clinton or Trump

after 2000, some states put stuff in place to force their electors to go with the winner of the popular vote, effective once enough states did the same to give the popular vote an electoral majority

@Unionhawk Americans voted for Trump.

@Sterno I think Putin rode around on a horse on election day

5:38 PM
Well

@Sterno they hacked both sides, only leaked Democratic and anti-hillary stuff

but yeah, I've never heard anything about that either outside of them doing propaganda

@Sterno I think that was the primary thing: strategically acquiring and then leaking information damaging to Hillary

They also shared intel with trump from what I've read

5:39 PM
it's unclear if they fabricated anti hillary stuff as part of that and included it in the leak

@GodEmperorDune The Electoral College is one of those things that will never be fixed short of a grassroots revolution because any elected power is very disinclined to change the system that put them in power.

@Sterno It was the emails and apparently the Russian had something to do with fake news stories/sites about the election and it's candidates

Let's say they even made the leaked stuff up. They interfered and that's bad but you can't just say "Oh, Hillary should win and not Trump then" or they literally are still affecting the election and you're giving them even more powerful tools to do it for hte next one.

@GodEmperorDune Still not a fan of that.

5:40 PM
it's kind of a shitty UI, i wish they summarized it like "we have X% of electoral votes committed to changing"

There's no "fixing" their interference unless they actually tampered with the votes

It solves the problem of "president should have the majority vote", but it does absolutely nothing to fix the true problem of our voting system.

@Sterno Yeah I agree. Not like both sides don't run their own propaganda campaigns either.

Which lies with national and state legislatures.

@Yuuki Trudeau said he would get rid of first-past-the-post, then won a sort of unrepresentative majority.

5:41 PM
@Sterno the thing is you can't prove a negative and you can't go back in time and prevent the leaks, but hopefully you can do something to either prevent it from happening again or punish russia somehow to make it clear that they shouldn't try it again

He's not really discussing getting rid of it now

I mean, if you overturn results or anything, next time they just interfere for the person they want to lose and then make it obvious they interfered.

@Yuuki yes, our system has a flaw in that it assumes legislators govern with good faith.

Sure, punishing Russia somehow makes sense.

@RedRiderX He sort of is. I'm pretty sure,. that if it happens, we'll just go to another shitty system to ensure liberals win.

5:42 PM
saying no for 8 years as a craven way to take power is no bueno

@GodEmperorDune I'm just very unsatisfied with single-representative districts.

IF liberals don't eliminate it, or put in an equally shit system I won't be voting for them again. I'll just vote NDP.

@Sterno like when the sony hack happened and North Korea's internet went down for a week

I'm hoping if the NDP ever got in they'd be like "well shit, this might be our only chance to implement MMP to make sure we continue to get power going forward!"

A week without Internet is feels like 6 years

5:44 PM
It seems pretty stalled but we'll see.

I mean I prefer NDP anyways, but I really didn't want four more years of harper. the guy is pretty legit at finance,from what I've seen, but his anti-climate/science/woman/muslim stances just appal me.

@Yuuki i mean i like the idea that representatives are supposed to represent local issues but it seems like it would be more fair to do party allocation based on percentages of votes gotten, so that a few seats go to third parties and such

@RedRiderX well they did release that terrible survey which is meant to show Canadians just want to stick with FPTP
Loaded questions ahoy

@Wipqozn OMG I forgot about that
That was incredibly bad.

i thought canada was doing score voting

5:45 PM
@RedRiderX yuuuuup
@GodEmperorDune Liberals want to implement STV, I think.
Or something similar to that.

@Wipqozn well i score voted with urmom last night

For everyone to laugh at

@GodEmperorDune Oh my

@Wipqozn yes, george takei was also invovled

5:47 PM
@RedRiderX I just realized that anyone can fill that out

@GodEmperorDune Well, what I mean is that each district would elect more than one representative based on proportion of ranked voting. That way, split districts don't have half their population completely shut out of the legislative process on any given year.

Or so I'm assuming

@Wipqozn Yep
@Wipqozn Well yeah

@RedRiderX Could be some sort of region restrictions going on, but I doubt it

Also that vox pop made it is sort of sad, I like their vote compass stuff

5:48 PM
Otherwise Canadians abroad would be screwed

@Yuuki so that doubles or triples the amount of legislators? because they've found that "at large voting" (where you vote for 3 people for 3 spots for example) just makes the majority win more spots

@Wipqozn works fine here

(los angeles county got sued for at large voting, so they switched to district based)

@arda figured

> A ballot should be easy to understand, even if it means voters have fewer options to express their preferences.
This questions for instance

5:50 PM
@GodEmperorDune I'm assuming they used a non-transferable vote system.

This is a horrible horrible question to try and gauge actual opinion.

@AdamLear is that a new(ish) cat? I could have sworn that before your pictued used to have a tabby in it
@RedRiderX yeah, because they don't want to

@Yuuki of course, i don't think anyone in the US has done STV

They just want something to wave around to say "well look, this is what Canadians wanted"
Are the states allowed to implement whatever system they want for the vote?

Never trust packages, package: "Bake for 8 minutes in a 220C oven", me: "Let's try 5 minutes", after 3 minutes "What's that burning smell?"

5:51 PM
Could a single state just go STV or something like that?

@GodEmperorDune Yeah, from what I've read, multiple representative districts should really only be implemented with a transferable vote system.

@Wipqozn for their state elections, yes
states are allowed to elect people however they want

@GodEmperorDune good to know

@Wipqozn I think his old picture was like that, yeah.

but if they choose to do it in a way that suppresses minority groups, the federal government was supposed to prevent it

5:53 PM
@GodEmperorDune Makes sense

@KevinvanderVelden Are you sure it was Celsius? That seems really hot for most kinds of food

but when part of the voting rights act was struck down a few years back, that became more diffiuclt
because now the federal govt needs to wait for an election to happen before they can sue

@murgatroid99 Pretty standard if it was frozen
Not so much if it wasn't

@Wipqozn Something something let it go.

whereas before they had to explicitly approve it before it took effect (for states with a history of election shenanigans)

5:54 PM
@Wipqozn oh, right, I didn't think of that

@Yuuki something something can't hold it back anymore

@murgatroid99 No, that's only ~425°F. That's what I bake my pizza at.

@arda Something something consider the coconut.

@RedRiderX oh man i am so trolling canada with these choices

@Yuuki hey, I didn't watch moana yet! That's not even out here!

5:57 PM
@MBraedley I know. But as far as I understand, that's the high end of temperatures that you bake things at

It'll be out here on 20 jan 2017... ouch

> YOUR VIEWS MOST ALIGN WITH
Innovators
My democracy is diverse and inclusive
yay

@murgatroid99 it was bread. And yes, I'm fairly sure it was celsius because this is the netherlands =p

i am also way more extreme than these parties
lol
sorry canada if i rekt everything

It's all your fault, further proof of the untrustworthiness of pugs!

6:01 PM
i am improving international democracy by making canada even more liberal

Q: Being a Mage in Skyrim

Metal Gear Solid FanSo I have this urge to play as a mage in Skyrim, mind you, I've played skyrim tons of times but always as a warrior class. I've always been tempted to play as a Mage but I feel like what I would be able to do would be limited to my Magicka bar. Anyway my question is basically, how difficult is p...

@Wipqozn Nah, same cat. She has some stripes, but you can't seem them well from that angle.

Q: How to resolve Wii U networking dysfunction?

ylluminateI'm a network admin, so this isn't my first rodeo, but I'm really fighting Wii U networking at the moment. The same problem exhibits itself with both wireless and wired networking. I prefer wired networking so I'm going to go down the path in explaining what's going on with that: The Wii U det...

super mario run is now out on andrioid and iOS! :3
too much fun playing it :)

I'm a bit surprised no one commented on the Waifu in a Can I posted.
I guess I'll take that as silent approval for the concept.

@Yuuki let it go, let it gooooo
@AdamLear MAKES SENSE. CAPS LOCK FOR SOME REASON.

6:43 PM
That's hilarious how he's texting the waifu-box at lunch and there are people behind him talking.
Hell, I'm asocial but even I'm not that asocial.

@Yuuki It truly feels like the darkest timeline of humanity.

I might not talk but I'll nod along with the conversation while making glances towards the door.

judgemental :(

@Yuuki But hey now you can say someone's waiting for you to get home.

@djsmiley2k Remember, judging people for what they do on their own time is perfectly acceptable as long as what they're doing makes us personally uncomfortable

6:47 PM
Wow, this app doesn't leak nearly as much memory as I thought it would.

@murgatroid99 Yeah I guess I am judging what people do on their own time.

Hey, CSS/HTML people around?
Oh, hi @murgatroid99 :D

Seriously, though. Being this judgmental about the nuanced differences between standalone female assistant voice controlled computer boxes that people choose to use in their own homes is absurd

@SaintWacko Maybe?

@murgatroid99 I'd make just as much as fun at someone texting Siri or Cortana at lunch.

6:51 PM
@murgatroid99 Did you watch the video?

Oh right, let's also make fun of people for being lonely, and dealing with it in their own way

If you're going to be lonely, be lonely the right way: mouthing along to Disney songs with earbuds in your mouth, staring at your plate for 10 minutes.
As you chew bland steamed broccoli that you bought from the cafeteria downstairs.

I guess maybe I'm projecting, but I felt like if I incorporated this into my own life how this video portrays I'm not dealing with loneliness in a healthy way

Q: Can I sell buildings? If so, how?

Zero StackI accidentally bought way too many Red Toad houses as I thought they would stack in the same location (on top of each other). Can I sell my unused buildings? If so, how?

But that is just my opinion that I shouldn't force on other I guess.

6:54 PM
I guess as long as you guys have found a way to feel smugly superior to someone by finding an easy target for mockery, at least we've gained something here

I have a list of items that's sticking out past the edge of the screen, and I'm trying to make it so the containing div cuts off at the edge of the screen rather than sticking out

@SaintWacko overflow: hidden may be a quick solution.

overflow-y: hidden so it still wraps horizontally, but that's what I'd do.

@RedRiderX Damnit lol. I've used that before, and completely forgot about it. Thanks

Plus a max width of some kind

6:56 PM
Okay, now just to find a way to make the list scroll through that div

@SaintWacko no probs

Trying to turn it onto a ticker

@SaintWacko Oh you want overflow: scroll then.

@murgatroid99 The great thing about the "shame on you trying to feel smugly superior to someone else" sentiment is how innately hypocritical it is.

@Ronan Ah, that's a start, but this is on a job board out it in the shop, and I'm trying to get it to be a ticker, scrolling across on its own
I realize I phrased that badly

@SaintWacko waves to jquery or other alike things

@Arperum stares sadly at jquery

@SaintWacko Also css animations if support is there for you

@Yuuki Good job missing the point. Finding someone/something like this that's a socially acceptable target form mockery, and then mocking them because they're different is basically the definition of "bullying". I wasn't intending to insult you but to point out that your behavior is mean.

Yeah you could make show and hide animations and then show them each in turn.

7:00 PM
@SaintWacko You are really bad at javascript?
there are plugins out there that will handle it all for you if you write like one line of code.

@StrixVaria I have learned many words today.

@StrixVaria I like how Christian music and glam metal are right next to eachother. Glam metal is very much sex and drugs metal.

@Arperum Definitely not perfect, but I already re-remembered a band I liked a while ago and forgot about, so I'll be poking around a bunch more.

@Arperum I imagine philosophical differences are a different plot.

7:04 PM
Also: I have no idea how "canadian metal" is a subgenre or even sounds mostly alike. Because it definitely doesn't. (I did recognize one of the bands used for the fragments for canadian metal)

@Arperum Well, I assume the understanding is that each part of a musical spectrum is a spectrum on its own.

@Yuuki Yes, I just noticed you can click on the tiny arrows of a genre.

I find it a little strange that he described the leftmost portion of the mapping as "denser and more atmospheric".
I always thought "dense" and "atmospheric" are kinda opposites when it comes to music.

@StrixVaria hey i found bands close to the bands i like
lol, rap metalcore and chillwave are next to each other

@Arperum Canadian metal would be some band washed up in the 90s that is still played regularly on the radio thanks to Canadian content rules.

@JasonBerkan Apparently it's any random candian metalband from all different subgenres mashed together.

RoolermachineSo my game is Hide And Seek and I have to start each round and end each round all the time, I suck at /Testfor so I need help, I want it so when 0 players are on the ingame team than the seeker wins automatic I tried many different things, the team name for the ingame people is: Player so I tried...

@Lazers2.0 Don't use testfor. Even without reading the entire question I can tell that the scoreboard is the answer to your woes.
@Lazers2.0 Actually, reading the question, it's pretty obvious that you just don't know how to use commands.

7:46 PM
@KevinvanderVelden I saw the link and thought it was something for burning man

Argh, why is pinch zoom broken again?

@arda italo dance pls

Where can I find a changelog for Chrome?

I dunno, but new update of Chrome breaks a pinch zoom implementation.

@badp The Christian ones are amusing

@Yuuki I tried chrome://changelog but it didn't work.

I will blame @StrixVaria and @murgatroid99.

"football"
"comedy"
what

"mandible"

one of these is not like the others
one of those does not quite belong
/cc @Arperum

It's missing death metal at the end. "Christian uplifting death metal"
One of my favourite musical genres.

I think it's implied really
"cryptic death metal", or the lyrics to the song come in crosswords form, and the vocals are your only hint

When I opened my phone browser I was on @TimStone profile for some reason. Also my phone tried to autocorrect that to @Tim's tones
