Burn a human effigy in a bonfire to have a half hour or so of imperviousness to invasions. That also hinders your ability to summon phantoms for help though.
Gank 'em invaders they'll eventualy get pissed and stop trying, or, if you wanna troll, ALT+F4 them in the face as soon as they come in st...
@badp Yeah. Other than somehow preloading patches for a physical game before you own it, the PS4's solution is about the best I can imagine. For digital the Steam preloading thing is pretty good, I think a patch just added that to PS4 too, dunno about Xbox One. I know ninitendo consoles sure don't let you
@badp well you can do that too, but digital only. I mean like being able to somehow preload only the patches for a physical game before you get it. It's mostly a problem endemic to physical games since the console has no idea you have X until you put in the disk for X and then it's like "naw gotta get an update first brah"
@BenBrocka sounds like an engineering problem really. Print a QR code with the game receipt. Scan the QR code. If your mobile browser is logged in with PSN, you can register the game. Don't let the game run until you actually put the disk in
@badp yeah they have an app they could integrate it with. Or really they could have a "patch only" download/preload in the store probably. As long as it's useless without a physical disk I don't see why it'd be harmful in any way, other than some extra work
Yeah. Though with the way it downloads in the background without stopping you from playing I'm not sure it'd be that useful except for big day one patches on multiplayer only titles, MP only is really the only title you'd be totally SOL without the patch
still it'd be cool to bring the benefits of PS mobile's store to physical games. It's magic to be able to buy crap on my phone at work and go home and it's already installed
@BenBrocka So what happens is that you pop in the disk, the game takes a minute or two to load, you sit through six minutes of unskippable logo and intro videos, and then the game tells you you can't join any game because your version is out of date please try again later?
And Sony seems to be pushing for no logo screens. Killzone shows a Guerrilla Games logo as a loading screen, then pops straight to the main menu. IT's fantastic
@BenBrocka Oh, yeah, that kind of screen. PLEASE READ THIS LEGAL AGREEMENT BY SCROLLING THROUGH THIS TWENTY PAGE LONG DOCUMENT WITH A THUMBSTICK SCROLLING DOWN ONE LINE PER SECOND
A friend of mine has ISSUED A CHALLENGE. Consisting of 15 segments of 12 seconds of video game songs. One of them sounds like something I very much think I recognize and it's driving me nuts.
@badp the sad thing is I think all PS3 online TOS are the exact same (I think it's jsut a generic PSN one) but you still have to agree once per game not once per console
Having played on a number of servers, there are often lingering references to multiple different "servers", or a "server" being down, so you can't play That Minigame You Like today.
Does this mean a large server actually runs on multiple different machines, or is this just some other effect at w...
The contracts being the same would only help if the terms were implicit by law in the same way of the contract you "sign" when you buy things off a grocery store
Pff I could just get your permissions betwixt the two (or three or four, if Tim and badp are interested in attempting) of you for an email I can just do that.
And IIRC in the Netherlands there was/is some project where poeple can "play" with pigs in some way to entertain both parties involved, and thus reduce the stress levels of the pigs.
@BenBrocka WHat about months of non-stop folding, even when not there. He later found out his GPU's had been running over 100°C for a week because of heatwave...
I think my old computer (earlier generation i7) with the stock heatsink got up to 96, which was enough motivation to get an aftermarket one for it. Then it maxed around 70, if that.
I have always wondered if equipping rings with special abilities, like the ring of light's extra illumination, or any other rings with properties other than just stat multipliers. Do you know if they do?
@GnomeSlice Player used to be a Sunbro. Becomes a Darkwraith because "f--k other people". Makes it to the Kiln of the First Flame. Solaire pops up. Sees that the player isn't a Sunbro anymore. Helps him anyway because Solaire is an awesome guy.
My wife told me about this new addicting game she started playing yesterday, called 2048. So I told her about doge 2048. Here's hoping she gets confused, Googles for an answer and upvotes @Feichinger's question.
> In any case, by their measure, the total value we place on all the world's humans is about $60 trillion—less than the total value we place on all the world's oil.
Is red Gyarados available in Pokemon. If so where do I find it. A freind told me he has it but I don't believe him but him telling me has made me curios where and how t do you find it
> He told me that the world's most highly-paid lawyer—on an hourly basis—is probably former Solicitor General Ted Olson, who recently disclosed in bankruptcy filings that he charges $1,800 per hour.
How do you go in bankruptcy by charging $1,800 per hour?
> Okay, it's a lot more fun to call it "two octillion gigadollars," as confirmed by an ongoing experiment in which I say that out loud in my office and then laugh at it.
@PanicBomb I hadn't even thought about that. It's as bad as those games where you buy them and then they still have ads everywhere

@SaintWacko I have also confirmed the results (and not just me giggled)
@PanicBomb Well, right. Didn't phrase that very well. I meant the ads are always there, and in multiple places. Not that they've been there since the beginning
