@badp c'est bon?

217.11 + 282.32 = 499.43 seconds

@lunixbochs \o/
got it yet?

yes! and I didn't need the boss

if you haven't try restarting the game.

just restarted
and got it

10:03 PM
Have a star.

so the boss is NOT required

user30
good job

We're proud of you.
Nite.

user30
SMB is one of those incredibly frustrating games

@ThomasMcDonald Which is why I don't enjoy playing it.

10:05 PM
I love it D: for some reason

user30
Where once you start a level, it takes over you

I spent over two hours on 4-17X I think

Q: What do I do at Lake Hylia in Ocarina of time 3D?

DisgruntledGoatI am stuck on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on 3DS. I am at Lake Hylia and there appears to be a temple under the lake. From what the owl said and online guides I'm supposed to play Zelda's Lullaby somewhere but I've tried loads of places all around the lake and got nothing so far. There ...

and an hour on 4-20X, which I never managed to A+
lowering my times on light world was super easy after getting the more complex timing down for dark world though

Yes, but I found its frustration is handled is much better in super meat boy than in similar games such as bit trip runner
Both games force you to essentially do it over and over and over and over till you do it cleanly from start to finish
However super near boy is so much more forgiving once you accept the fact you aren't going to get all levels at a+ and all characters and all bandages etc
More or less like in braid you can do levels at your leisure
you can skip additional challenges if you don't want to look for then

user30
10:13 PM
I never really understood Braid

I dunno how strict the access requirements for world 6 are however.

you can jump over the smb hell boss fists...!? I was having the worst time dodging them using the sides of the platform

Spoiler alert
I just said I haven't unlocked world 6 :P

@ThomasMcDonald It's a puzzle game whose puzzles and mechanics are time-related.

user30
@Powerlord I have it, I just never really got into it

10:17 PM
@linux oh sorry.

Someone spoiled Braid's ending for me. I haven't played it since.

braid was fun, took a few hours

Yeah I didn't know either
@arda mind explaining it too me then? :P

braid was wayyy easier than smb
you just had to think about the effect of your actions across timelines

@badp Same backstory as Donkey Kong, funnily enough.

10:18 PM
smb just requires you to have either insane reflexes or so much time you can accidentally beat the level

Some sections in braid are also way frustrating

@lunixbochs or a gamepad.

@badp The ability to rewind time helps.

@ArdaXi I got a bit more precision out of the gamepad, but I found it was harder because I was still trying to compensate for the keyboard's accuracy

@Powerlord Isn't that the entire point of Braid?

10:20 PM
@powerlord except when it doesn't ;)

on the levels with multiple timelines, rewinding got harder than the beginning

But yeah, I hear Braid is a pain to play without a controller. I've only played it on the 360.

Q: Why do the 2-star items have a "1" next to them?

DMA57361Here's a clipping of the shop list from the gun shop in Haven bazaar. Why do all the 2-star and better weapons have a 1 on them (as highlighted in the image above)?

because it changed from a way to undo your mistakes to a game mechanic

I still want to get a gamepad, but I don't want to spend €40

10:21 PM
I didn't have any problems with braid on the keyboard

user30
I'm thinking of getting one of those one-handed controller thingies

I'm thinking about that section with the glowing plants in the top right corner you had to get a dog or something through

@ThomasMcDonald A Wiimote?

@ThomasMcDonald from reviews I'd recommend the logitech one
I've been thinking of getting a set for my computer lab

user30
because I have one but never really liked it

user30
10:22 PM
and I've been getting strain in my thumb from WASD + space

user30
@lunixbochs the G13?

@ArdaXi that kind of accuracy was way less important than strategy in braid iirc
yeah I think the G13 was it
people said the saitek one was a "nice cheap version of the others"

Starting smb was painful for my nails biting info my fingers

How bad is this. I got the ticket for Flight Control before I installed the game.

user30
@lunixbochs That's what I have, somewhere.

user30
10:24 PM
I think.

the one that expands?
some complained of the ergonomics of the razer/belkin, but said it was definitely better than the saitek

user30
yeah

and everyone who compared the logitech to the razer said it was way more ergonomic
and complimented the build quality
also apparently there are issues with center of gravity on the razer that the logitech doesn't have
reviews said the logitech had a very solid base
while the razer might rock etc

user30
I still have the Logitech G...11? keyboard.

user30
probably the best keyboard I've ever used until I got my macbook

10:25 PM
I really like my razer lycosas

If we're going to get crazy controllers, get that weird thingy Portal 2 has levels for.

I have a whole lab of them

user30
now it feels a bit clunky, but still damn good

@ArdaXi the 3d controller?

@lunixbochs Right.

10:26 PM
the standalone gaming pads have decent application in most games
I think the logitech even has one of those lcds

user30
and um, what's the mouse, the G9? Now that was well worth £45

I've heard pretty good things about the logitech gaming mice
personally I'm using a razer orochi, which is the only normal razer gaming mouse that doesn't have a high failure rate :P
it's really small/light, hybrid bluetooth+usb

@lunixbochs Really? hmm....

I tend to hold my mice in the "claw" grip

user30
Weights and stuff are pretty pointless and on-the-fly sensitivity is a general gimmick across mice if you're actually going to get good at a game, but boy does it fit my hand well

10:28 PM
@sensitivity, I've never used that
I normally just find one that works, then I can twitch-snipe

user30
It's by far the most pointless "feature"

I can see it working if you're say, going between camping and running around :P

user30
Nah, get yourself a bigger mouse surface if that's an issue

:)
I use the surface of my laptop.
somehow it actually works (pretty big palmrest area on a gaming laptop though)
along with the fact my mouse is on the smaller side

user30
Speaking of which, the University of Birmingham completely convinced me to apply there on Friday

user30
10:31 PM
because I got a free mouse mat & memory stick

for applying? :)

user30
whereas all I got at Oxford was a pen

user30
I will be come summer

user30
I shall have to look at updating my accessories then

my quest for getting all the tickets is lagging behind
glares at smb

10:38 PM
@lunixbochs ALL of them? Hell, and I thought I was getting a lot of tickets and I'm only averaging 3 a day.

user30
He'll probably get an ultra-rare TF2 item or something

I had so much fun getting the golden potato I wanted to do it again :)

user30
Oh I see

user30
You're hoping for an extra special present at the end again ;)

Meh, golden potato was fun because it was one pack with lots of fun games at a fun price. No way I'm gonna buy all the ticket games.

10:47 PM
thing is I already own most
just got the flight control achievement playing a random map
still have no idea what the stunt airfield is :)
let's see if I can get one more ticket before I go to transformers
anyone have lead and gold and not have the ticket yet?
@ThomasMcDonald I don't care if I get a prize at the end (though my chances of winning the sweepstakes will be much higher) - I had a ton of fun just going through the process for the potatoes

user30
I'm only jesting

user30
I think in the end Portal 2 & the Potato Sack didn't cost me anything

they did for me
but I got them twice over

user30
Yeah, I sold my spare gifts to my mates

I still have a few sitting around
I have 24 unsent or unredeemed gifts in steam <_<
