That could be it too. Enemies in The Division either felt like they died instantly or that they could sponge bullets until the heat death of the universe.
Proposed Q&A site for developers who have purchased, or plan to purchase InvenSense chips and/or software to create their inventions. I would imagine typically small time developers and large companies.
@BlueBarren No like a month ago, they said they weren't going to use a lot of resources anymore on ME:A and a small group would be left behind for updates, small add ons and bug fixes and most of the team got moved to help with new projects (I am now assuming that may be Anthem)
@Beedrill That's because sci-fi is roughly equivalent to fantasy when it comes to being easy to hand-wave it as "magic". Except here magic is "future tech"
This is also why boss fights in Deus Ex: Human Revolution felt so bad.
The whole game trained you that you could instantly murder people with stealth kills and headshots, until you got to bosses and had to shoot them 500 times
the bullet spongy thing wasn't a big deal, the real issue was that you had a game that was advertised and marketed as "choose your own way to play", which ended up being "except for these 4 meatheads who will mess your shit up if you're not combat oriented
I think certain games that utilize stealth so much should give you ways to use stealth to quickly kill even hard enemies, kind of like in Skyrim how you can hide and one shot almost anyone by late
However, even realistic games, if everyone was one shot, no one would play it, you'd get bored of the game being a cake walk.
I love how Batman: Arkham does stealth. You can oneshot anyone who doesn't spot you, but 1. you need a few seconds to oneshot them; 2. if they spot you you need to run or are dead in seconds; 3. every stealth encounter beyond a certain point has complications
I know it is possible to give a playerhead with say id of whatever skin you want but, i want to make it give the player head with the precise skin at the time the player is killed. I just dnt want when the skin has changed the head to change to the new skin i want it to preserve the current skin ...
@Ronan Mondays are a day off for me and I really do need to get groceries before my massage appointment but my bed is like nope I am being extra comfy hahaha you are doomed
I have a team of Ramza, Elza, Cecil, ExDeath, Minfilia.
For some reason, during my fight with Titan (the Raid Boss), Cecil would 90% of the time cover Ramza instead of Minfilia or ExDeath whose defense and HP are lower than Ramza. Why is this? How to make Cecil cover ExDeath or Minfilia instead ...
In my fifth playthrough, for the first time, I found a "Copycat Operator":
Instead of requiring level 4 Hacking to hack, it only required level 2.
Is there a purpose to it? I was in a panic, so I quickly used Combat mode and hacked every operator in the room, so I wasn't able to tell if it wo...
I have everything setup with a custom resource pack, and it works when I have it set client-side. However, when I take it off and download it from my server it doesn't seem to do anything. I currently just have it with custom music added. The download link works fine, and the sha1 seems fine. How...
@Wipqozn Why is it that it seems like, for the most part, non-workaholics can understand that some people are workaholics but workaholics can't seem to get that some people aren't?
Might be a confirmation bias thing.
I guess you'd rarely hear of the workaholic boss who doesn't expect anyone else to be the same.
While playing as 9S, you have the option to hack and enemy as an attack. If you succeed in the hack, you will do damage or kill the enemies. However if you fail the hack, you take damage. Is the damage you take always the same or is it dependent on several factors?
@Wipqozn I was a contractor. At the moment, I'm the manager. But even as a regular employee developer, I strongly advised against putting overtime in the project plan. I have never seen it work well. It just burns out people.
As written in the Wiki, the outer islands of The End generate infinitely as far as you go.
But, as in the Overworld, there might be a border far away. I have reached 70000 negative X, and still everything was generating identically to the not so outer islands. It would be pretty strange if the E...
@JasonBerkan The company I work for bought the entire atlantic canada division of another company. We're not responsible for migrating a bunch of sites, creating new ones, et cetera. Company doesn't seem willing to staff up. Timelines are goofy, and now they're getting pushed up... my boss is trying to push back since he said "you can't have people doing this overtime all the time, they burn out."
@JasonBerkan So that's all nuts, and now they're talk of outsourcing to his contracting company (which currently isn't doing much), and then he'd employ the current dev team through that and get us extra hours at higher than we make here (it would probably be effectively double time). That's good money... but he doesn't seem to understand the dev team loves money, but not "I want to work 50+ hour weeks every week".
My boss basically sees dollar signs everywhere. He started a farm last year, and he's usually up there every single weekend doing that. And now he's talking about taking on even more work... he doesn't seem to get that not everyone just wants to WORK WORK WORK in order to amass riches
I love money, but I'm not interested in killing my entire social life to get it. Or kill myself over it for that matter.
If my boss wants to toss me some nice dosh via work from this contracting company every so often that's grand, but no matter the money, I'm not interested in 10+ hours of OT every week.
I'm sure this is all very confusing since I'm rambling, but basically, shits fucked up.
It's not confusing. If you develop for anytime at all you encounter the "upper management sets hopeless timeline" issue. Though the guy owning a contract company that does work for his current employer seems dodgy.
Unless he's a contractor, but we always had "no hire" clauses built into our contracts.
@JasonBerkan that wasn't even his idea originally. When he pointed out that "our team doesn't have the capacity for this. You need to staff up.", the execs started asking "Well maybe we can outsource to your contracting company." Which my boss thought was a great idea... since money money money.
I'm starting to think I'm the sane man in some kind of twilight zone episode
That doesn't solve anything. It'll just cost the company more money, and we're still doing OT if the plan is to get us to do all the work via his company.
They just don't seem to understand that things take time, and that making a website is a lot more difficult than slapping words on a piece of paper (newspaper)
like the solution to you losing advertising dollars online isn't "let's put more ads up", it's to focus on growing your userbase so that advertisers want to advertise with you
Advertisers go where the eyeballs are. It's not that hard of a concept to understand.
because the user numbers are dropping fastm and they're not going to go up by putting up more ads
People don't go "man, that site has more ads now? I really should start visiting there"
Part of me wishes we didn't start using Python here, because it's another reason I find myself thinking "I should wait things out to see if they get better".
If you do decide to switch jobs, I highly recommend becoming a contractor. I loved it, because for the most part, you remain outside of all the stupid corporate stuff. Just a task that needs to be done and you.
I mean if my current company would get it's shit together it's probably a job for life. We're the largest independant newspaper..in well canada now, actually. Been around for over 100 years... health benefits + pension plan, all really nice things to have 30 years from now.
@JasonBerkan I didn't realize that was a thing
@JasonBerkan Don't suppose you have the name of one as an example? Wouldn't even know what to look for tbh,.
Question might seem weird, but is it explained in the Dark Souls series lore why enemies don't attack each other? Everything seems on a team against the player. I can't remember a time where I've run into two enemies going purposefully against each other (but they do, sometimes, cause friendly fi...
Good: people don't generally waste your time, because you're billed at an obscene rate. Which has the added effect of people taking you more seriously.
Bad: there's almost zero incentive to write good code; billing by the hour means it's in their best interest to write shitty code.
Question for the other IT folk: I'm putting together a project plan, and I've estimated the number of hours it'll take me to complete. Problem is, its assuming I put 7 hours a day towards it, leaving a half hour for maintenance on daily things. That sounds good on paper, but with all the interruptions and day to day support, I seriously doubt I'll ever manage seven full hours of productivity.
I'm mostly doing this because my boss is being anal about, "office hours are from X to Y". And ignoring the fact that project work generally needs uninterrupted time.
I seem to have an advantage in that I need very little time to recover from interruptions, but they're still going to cut into my dev time.
I want to do some map editing in the Alpine region but don't know how to move/remove impassable mountain ranges.
Could you please explain me or link to an answer?
Alternately, you could say that no one has played the Human Torch in the last Fantastic Four movie because Horton hasn't appeared in any superhero movie, let alone a Fantastic Four movie.
Although I guess a mannequin did play a reference to the Human Torch in the first Captain America movie.
Y'know if you want to make a cheeky in-joke about your DLC tendencies, maybe you shouldn't make the joke actually cost money (I'm assuming the lightning bolt thing is some platform's icon for the paid currency).
Well, I don't understand any sort of reasoning for it be some kind of in-game currency. "You can't play with Thomas the Tank Engine dragons until you get X achievements so you can spend Y achievement points to buy the mod."
ill have to consult my adviser @Chippies he was telling me to wait for a ti version of some gpu to come out for the price of the non ti version to go down, but i cant recall the name of it
