@Wipqozn I think this was their quota filling episode

@badp We don't in singular either. Using "he" as singular is generally accepted in English too.

@Ullallulloo Depends who you ask. Plenty of people get plenty offended at genderneuter he.

@Wipqozn Yeah, I can see that working just fine.
"OMFG THIS IS THE SEASON FINALE AND YOU DIDN'T PUT A SONG IN IT? NOT ONE? IN A SEASON FINALE?! WORST. SEASON. FINALE. EVER. JUST PUT IN ANY SONG, ANY SHITTY SONG, STILL BETTER THAN NO SONG."

@LessPop_MoreFizz Yeah, some, but not most.

user15026
@LessPop_MoreFizz so true

user15026
Not that I like any of the "ungendered" pronouns that have been created

@AshleyNunn They is perfectly acceptable, and has been for a thousand years.
We don't need a new one.

Gender neutral they is the best.

The worst part about all the recently created ones is that they're pretty much just she/him/etc spelled wrong
So they all the way

user15026
@LessPop_MoreFizz Aye, this is very, very true. People trying to suggest new options that never sound right just irritate me

@BenBrocka This.

Q: How To Get Past Darkfall Cave?

desaivvI am at the quest "Retrieve Auriel's Bow". I met the last of the Snow Elfs Knight-Paladin Gelebor. He tasked me to go through this portal to get through the Darkfall cave to the Forgotten Vale. My local map says I am still in the cave. And it is really dark, I keep retracing my footsteps and ke...

Q: Does waiting change what the event will be at a "Distress" beacon?

bd33If I see that a location has a distress icon, but I visit other places first, does that change what the distress event will be, or will it ever go away? I ask because I know there is an escort quest that seems to change if you do not head straight for the quest objective.

Q: Dwarf Fortress: Walls

SindicoI have a big area I have already dug which I'd like to split into two sub area. Would it be possible to do that without the use of walls? I mean for instance just adding rough clay?

The only real need for a new pronoun that might exist is for those specific individuals that refuse to participate in the gender binary for some reason. And, to be entirely honest, I have little sympathy for the fact that a 1500 year old language doesn't have a word for something that has only existed at all for maybe 50 years. You want a new pronoun? Put your heads together and come up with a special snowflake pronoun for yourselves and agree on it, and until you do, you're just going to...
have to deal with the fact that you are a new concept stuck using old words.

I don't know; I'd rather be ambiguous about gender than number.
I mean, does gender information matter that much?

@badp Being ambiguous about number is easily solved through verb conjugation and other contextual forms however. Being ambiguous about gender is unresolvable.

@LessPop_MoreFizz "verb conjugation"? "They wants"?

user15026
6:09 PM
@LessPop_MoreFizz Pretty much.

I'd have no qualms about "they wants" other than "it sounds wrong" and "it's not what Ashley actually said."

@AshleyNunn Like, I have trans friends, and I am sympathetic, and have asked them in the past "what pronoun do you prefer" and such, but the fact of the matter is that by deliberately removing yourself from the continuum of Things For Which We Have Words, you are going to have to deal with the fact that people will use the wrong ones all the time.

Well there we go. I felt like I just ate concentrated rainbow and should be coughing up glitter now

@badp Moving on to More Things About English Which Will Infuriate and Confuse @badp's everywhere:

FAE
@LessPop_MoreFizz Admittedly though, trans people are in general more likely to prefer one of the binary specific words than people who are gender fluid or otherwise genderqueer.

6:11 PM
Synesis is a traditional grammatical/rhetorical term derived from Greek (originally meaning "unification, meeting, sense, conscience, insight, realization, mind, reason"). A constructio kata synesin (or constructio ad sensum in Latin) means a grammatical construction in which a word takes the gender or number not of the word with which it should regularly agree, but of some other word implied in that word. It is effectively an agreement of words with the sense, instead of the morphosyntactic form. Example: :If the band are popular, they will play next month. Here, the plural pronoun the...

@YiJiang'sEvilClone What would that be?

@FAE I used 'trans' broadly there to fit in to character limit. You know what I was getting at.

@LessPop_MoreFizz Unrelated. That's using plural for singular nouns that imply a plurality of subjects. We have that too, btw.

The MLP S3 finale. Really, really concentrated rainbow.

FAE
@LessPop_MoreFizz Ah.

user15026
6:13 PM
@FAE There is this. Which is why I will ask, or when corrected, use what people prefer, but I struggle with most of the non-traditional forms, because if nothing else, they don't sound like normal English words - they all have odd sounds in them that make them hard for my mouth to handle

@AshleyNunn Constructed words and neologisms almost always suck ass.

Actually the grammar books for foreigners make mention of the few exception in English; there's an ad-hoc line about the number of "police" and other few exceptions I forget about.

@YiJiang'sEvilClone Ah, you didn't literally eat it though.

user15026
I never know where the emphasis goes, or if they have long or short vowels

user15026
@YiJiang'sEvilClone So true

user15026
6:15 PM
And the lack of knowledge of pronunciation sets off my anxiety.

Too much of a good thing, you know...

FAE
@AshleyNunn I try to be flexible about what I use, as it's important to me that whomever I'm addressing is comfortable with what pronoun I'm using. Most of my friends are pretty reasonable about stuff though, in that they don't get like, mad or upset or anything if I flub because they realize that, hey, these aren't generally used words.

@FAE Wouldn't a trans always prefer the gender of his identity, as opposed to his body's?

user15026
@YiJiang'sEvilClone Yeaaaaah

FAE
@badp It depends on the person. May also depend on the company you're with.

user15026
6:16 PM
@FAE That has been my experience too. I just struggle with words.

@FAE if you try to be too explicitly inclusive in a single sentence you end up with stuff like QUILTBAG

Besides, you guys have it easy. Most of our adjectives are gendered ("annoiato" (male) vs "annoiata" (female)), so that makes things even worse :P

user15026
@badp Very, very individual preference

user15026
@BenBrocka ......oh don't even get me started

@badp I hate that so much in German

FAE
6:17 PM
@badp For example, one of my MtF friends I visited with during vacation came to my other friend's house who lived with his parents. While my MtF friend prefers to be addressed as "she" in general, she was not dressing or presenting as female while at my friend's house, so it was acceptable to her to be addressed as male in front of our friend's parents and stuff.
@BenBrocka a;lkdjfas;ldjfas

(that said I don't personally know non-binary-gendered people "in real life" so I don't actually know how the thing is handled in Italian)

user15026
@FAE Once, someone asked me what pocket I was in the QUILTBAG

user15026
I wanted to throw rocks

@AshleyNunn Oh wow

FAE
@AshleyNunn I just... I can't. I cannot expect myself, or anyone else, to be taken seriously when they say "I am part of the QUILTBAG community." I just can't.

user15026
6:18 PM
@FAE I can't do it. I just die. I laugh.

@FAE Sounds like a knitting club.

user15026
@BenBrocka Yeeeeep.

user15026
@OrigamiRobot I know, right?

Full of old ladies.

user15026
Bunch of older ladies, needles, fabric, you know.

6:19 PM
They take turn baking cookies for their meetings.

FAE
@AshleyNunn It's just so dumb. I'm sorry, but it just... it's just dumb.

I like cookies.

@AshleyNunn And rocking chairs. You forgot rocking chairs.

Therefore, I am ok with this.

user15026
@OrigamiRobot I am baking cake today, which isnt cookies but still awesome

user15026
6:19 PM
@Fluttershy Oh, that is definitely also important

user15026
@FAE It is terrible

user15026
I mean I hate labels pretty much forever, and never use them on myself or most other people I know, but this one just makes me want to throw stuff

@FAE It is the epitome of stupid lables. LGBT is bad enough. I snickered when my university tried to cram "and allied straights" on there for LGBTAS or something. QUILTBAG is the perfect example of why NOT to just cram more letters/groups into there

user15026
and I am supposed to be a pacifist.

@AshleyNunn At some point it just becomes annoying. I am just trying to communicate. Stop making it difficult.

FAE
6:22 PM
@BenBrocka Pretty much. Our guild's bandied about different ways to try to indicate we're inclusive, but we refuse to use that label. We've thought about GSM (gender and sexual minorities) but that makes me think of cellphones first. :P

user15026
@OrigamiRobot Which is why I usually stick with "I am Ashley, I like people."

@FAE Yeah I hear GSM and think "where's the LTE group?"

user15026
@FAE Eeergh, the "minorities" bit makes me twitchy.

FAE
@AshleyNunn Yeah, there's that too. tl;dr labels are hard.

Same. But other than that GSM is less stupid than other alternatives...short, and you dont' have to worry about people saying "hey why isn't X label included?!!?!!?"
That's the problem when you try and make a label for a group centered around inclusiveness. If you make the label explicit, it is never inclusive enough

user15026
6:24 PM
I think that comes from my complicated classes about multilingualism and minority versus majority groups anf stuff

user15026
@BenBrocka Which is why I just ignore them

user15026
I am like okay, I am never going to use one that makes everyone happy

Oh crap I haven't updated my expenses/income spreadsheet since christmas vacation
Ain't nobody got time for that

FAE
@AshleyNunn I had an interesting discussion with my German friend about the usage of gender explicit nouns. I told her how in English, nowadays we're tending to move away from gender explicit nouns and more towards gender neutral nouns, like "flight attendant" vs. "steward/stewardess" or "firefighter" rather than "fireman/firewoman." She has opposite views than I do on the progressiveness of that because that sort of gender neutral noun doesn't exist in German.

user15026
@FAE Fascinating.

FAE
6:27 PM
@AshleyNunn So she would rather be specifically labeled a "female teacher" in Dutch for example ("lerares" vs. leraar") rather than just "leraar" because she feels it contributes to the invisibility problem then if one uses only the male pronoun as catchall.

user15026
@FAE I get that. It makes sense to me.

user15026
It is interesting how it differs from the English neutrality

Meatbag is the obvious solution here. You're all meatbags.

FAE
@AshleyNunn Yeah, because of the gendered state of nouns in her language, approaching the issue is done from an entirely different angle.

We have a few standard constructions for making female versions of some gendered nouns

user15026
6:29 PM
@FAE Yeah, which is fascinating to me, because it is something that never ever would happen here, because our language lacks that.

some of those make sense, like "professore" vs "professoressa"

user15026
Are adjectives gendered as well?

FAE
@AshleyNunn Yeah, I never even thought about it.

others are completely and absolutely atrocious, such as "sindaco" vs... "sindaca"? "sindachessa"?

user15026
@FAE I thought about it some when learning Russian, but never really went far with the thinking, because I was focused mainly on being able to communicate, which I still cannot really do

6:30 PM
Women here generally look down on those as they sound negative and unnecessarily difficult and prefer using the male nouns

FAE
@AshleyNunn I don't know much about German, so I'm unsure, I don't think so.
@badp That sounds similar to the attitude that many Hollywood stars have nowadays in preferring the general term "actor" over being specifically labeled "actress".

"un sindaco donna" would be frowned upon too because the "donna" (woman) bit would feel like it underlined the "sindaco" being a woman - possibly in a negative way.
"sindaco" means "mayor" btw, but it's far from the only troublesome word

So yeah, in a way women here are for gender-neutral masculine singular :P
Personally, at least from a completely bullshit and hypothetical "language theoretical design" viewpoint I have absolutely no authority to making judgement from, gender-neutral "they" feels like a kludge as best, and the origin of as much arguing as it seeks to avoid from those dumb ESL people.

FAE
In Dutch, they use a bunch of different suffixes to make stuff feminine.

6:36 PM
I guess it's fascinating anyway to see how different cultures tackle the issue.
@FAE Yeah, same here. Often, they just don't work however.

@Ullallulloo The caddie might wanna stand back

@BenBrocka I know.
I don't think that's how chains work.

FAE
@Ullallulloo wtf

@Ullallulloo uh, that's hammer throw. What's so weird about it?

FAE
@badp I often forget to use them because of said lack of inherently gendered nouns in English.

6:38 PM
@Ullallulloo I hope in-game the chain is rigid. Otherwise I don't know how that's gonna work
@badp It's a golf game

@Ullallulloo He even looks angry when golfing!

@BenBrocka He's clearly hammer throwing it though.

@Fluttershy I'll send this ball to Hades!

Q: How do I finish mission 5 in Devil May Cry 3?

user42522So, I got to mission 5, I beat the Centipede and the Joker, but I can't figure out the thing with the floors. I don't know what to do. Can you explain to me how I can complete this mission? I've been trying for 2 hours.

@BenBrocka Except, I guess, the plan is to use the hammer to throw the ball, as opposed to throwing the hammer itself.

6:40 PM
Bogey?! I'll kill you all!

FAE
@BenBrocka I'm totally reading this in his voice.

The chain is totally not rigid
(sorry, this is certainly not the best quality video on the internet)

He's using it as a club though, not to throw

I'm just saying, it's physically possible.

I just can't see Kratos happily whistling at a good shot

6:43 PM
@BenBrocka Okay, that is probably not physically possible

If you haven't already go vote on which games we should marathon. I'll be closing the voting today

also, we have a 4 way tie for 5th, which is going to be interesting

Oh god, he actually says "'I AM THE GOD OF GOLF". That is awesome

FAE
@BenBrocka ahaha really?

6:46 PM
@FAE It's in the vid

@BenBrocka I'm pretty sure that if someone tried to swing like at like :17-:18, he would actually just hit himself in the face.

FAE
@BenBrocka I can't stop laughing

@FAE The sound effect also reminds of YESSSSS, YESSSSSS.

@BenBrocka ... wow... o_o
I still don't see how Portal 2 lends itself well to a marathon...

@Fluttershy Co-op should be fine

6:58 PM
@BenBrocka Two people can finish co-op in like 3 hours though.

Aren't we doing multiple games though? Or just one?
Seems like multiple 3 hour segments would be preferable to one person minecrafting for 24 hours or something

@BenBrocka I'm not sure how many games we're doing. I just don't think of 3 hours when I think "marathon" stuff. >_>

FAE
I'm unsure if this is a duplicate of this. It's definitely at least related.

Depends if "marathon" means "lots of content" or "the same shit all day"...I'm less a fan of the latter meaning
which is why I'm not a huge fan of the borderlands 2 full playthrough idea. It'd take a looong time

@BenBrocka And it would be a lot of "is this weapon better than this one?"

7:04 PM
I've gotten pretty good at determining that

NO MY POINT IS VALID AND YOU WILL AGREE WITH ME
brb, deleting account
4

We're definitely playing multiple games.

@OrigamiRobot There are some days when I'm happy about being a mod, and some days when I feel like that. Today is one of the latter days

@badp I assume you are referencing meta.

@BenBrocka Is the Info Stockade like... the final Borderlands 2 mission?

Q: Torchlight II for Mac?

TomWhat is the current status of the Torchlight II port for Mac? There are plenty of articles from the release date a few months ago, and several quotes that suggest a port is "a couple months away." I don't see anything on their site or the internet in general with updated information. Thanks!

Q: Escorted revived NPCs - now where have they gone?

Vael VictusIn the Inquest Outer Complex, you'll often find many revivable corpses of researchers and workers. Well, last night, I decided to liberate all these corpses. I went to each part of the complex, revived them, stuck with them, and escorted all of them out. They began to run, and ran to Luminates Pl...

Q: To What does the Scout Mastery Apply?

Jonny BThe wikia says that the Scout Mastery only applies to wards. however, I heard elsewhere that it works for traps (i.e. Caitlyn's Traps). Is this true? Does it also work for other revealing spells (Ashe's Hawkeye, Kog's Ultimate, etc.)?

@Fluttershy Nope

Is it close?

@Fluttershy Kinda; you still have a couple more hours to go still I think
Let me be more specific
Yeah, make it 5 hours or so more

@badp Dang... This is a long game.

@Fluttershy You're definitely in the final stretches, but not in the final stretch.

7:18 PM
Yeah you've got a bit to go
Want help? I suppose I could stop stomping necromorphs for a bit to help

Actually - at this point you haven't yet gone to the island yet I suppose
I'll update my estimate to 8 hours then, if you're going to do all the sidequests.
It's not much of a spoiler that if there's an island on the fast travel map, then you're supposed to go there at some point right?

If by "not much of a spoiler" you mean "ruined the game for everyone ever".
(But more seriously I don't think that even comes remotely close to a spoiler, so you're good)

@TimStone I didn't mention he'd be fighting a massive giant robot thing and it won't even look like a boss fight!
I could've done that!

They could have at least put in dramatic music or something, that part's silly.

@TimStone Yeah, it's disappointing
It's like he was scrapped as a boss idea and thus just parked there

7:22 PM
@Fluttershy want halp in BL2?

He has definitely enough health to warrant the top-screen health bar thingamajigger, anyway
I spent like 10 minutes taking down the PT2 version of that thing. I don't even remember if I did it solo or not

The lack of critical zones is obnoxious too.

@BenBrocka If you wanna join. @OrigamiRobot is here too!

This crafting thing in Dead Space 3 looks far too slow and complicated
@Fluttershy I'll be over

7:38 PM
I had forgotten about how hard Dota 2 is.

8:06 PM
@Ullallulloo Any competitive game is arbitrarily hard.

I'm liking Tusk though.

Q: Mass Effect 3: Playing with only one squad member

user42525I was just wondering if there was a way to edit Coalesced.bin to play with only one squad member in ME3 I thought it might be cool to go on a few missions with only Tali tagging along. Thanks!

Is it me, or is the rock ship in FTL one of the hardest ships in the game to use?

8:41 PM
Oh god, closing questions is a SLAP IN THE FACE
god I hate that phrase so much.

Anything to say about this mouse or gaming mice in general?

@LessPop_MoreFizz Call me crazy, but I don't think this guy is looking for a constructive conversation.

How should I expect to benefit with a gaming mouse?
Was it really worth the $90?

@DragonLord I hate this website.
I also hate this company because of their ad.
aka their information page on the mouse.

@Wipqozn: if you don't like the official product page, see newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826436016

8:46 PM
Anyways, I find a mouse to be the most important accessory for my computer.

@Wipqozn Especially with the pissy attitude of, "If you have time to spend finding questions to close, spend it better."
Because maintaining site quality is a bad thing.

I usually buy logitech, and I'm currently using the G600:

FAE
@DragonLord Holy crap was that ad obnoxious.

I have the G500, love it

@fbueckert Also boredom. The one who found his question wasGnomeslice, probably because he's really bored due to being suspended.

FAE
8:48 PM
@Wipqozn You still happy with this? I'm still looking into getting one.

I personally don't need this many buttons, I'd rather have Roccat's more elegant EasyShift[+] solution.

@FAE I am.

the G500 is a masterpiece, if you don't need all the side buttons

@DragonLord Yeah, everyone has different needs. I like buttons.

it's just got 3, plus the DPI buttons

8:48 PM
@BenBrocka I have one of those.

FAE
@BenBrocka Handy for MMO games.

The Logitech G500 seems to be prone to left/right mouse button failure, so I skipped it.

@BenBrocka Oh, no I don't. I have a slightly earlier model.

I don't play MMOs, so the G600 isn't the sort of mouse I need

I also own a G700.

8:49 PM
That damn mouse has cheevos.

@DragonLord I find the buttons useful for a lot of games. Make it so I rarely need to use the keyboard for anything other than movement.
@FAE yes, yes it was.

been using the g500 for months, no clicking problems

Oh god. One of their pages for that mouse has "UNLEASH YOUR OWNAGE NOW". I will forever hate this company (even though I only just heard of them now).

FAE
@Wipqozn I use their mousepad, I linked that to you last week.

which pad? I've been looking at getting a good one

8:51 PM
The older Roccat Kone and Kone[+] had scroll wheel issues that seem to be addressed in the Kone XTD.

Oh, okay, I have heard of them.
...dawg

hey hey hey ;)

Also, I do like the number of images they seem to havbe of their mice.

I like my G700 a lot.

They do make some sexy looking mice.

FAE
8:52 PM
@BenBrocka This one. I vastly prefer low profile mousepads. This one's only 1.35mm high.
Ignore the stupid pattern. I don't care about that much.

@DragonLord What's the Easy Shift button do? Is it just a keybind to the shift key?

It provides an extra layer of functions for each of the other buttons, essentially doubling functionality.

Oh, I see. It's the same as the shift button on my g600.

FAE
@BenBrocka I've used the SteelSeries QcK before, two of them, actually, but the problem I've noticed with those is that the material starts to come off the rubber at the wrist area where there's heavier friction and wear over time.

8:53 PM
It has the same thing. So the g600 essentially has 32 buttons.

@AshleyNunn I have a question right for you
How do you book?
I'll elaborate

I have a slicksteel pro.... few years old

FAE
@badp That's... vague.

however my mouse randomly started spazzing out on it

I have a new book, I need to keep it open in front of me as I read stuff off it and write things down on my monitor

8:54 PM
Not sure if its the fault of the mouse or the mat, so I'm not using it atm

However, the book is new and closes if left to itself

My word. Their keyboards allow you switch the key switches.

HOW DO I BOOK??

I take it back. Maybe I don't hate this company forever based on first impressions of their website.

The default mapping of the EasyShift[+] button is highlighted here:

FAE
8:55 PM
@djsmiley2k Silly question, but have you tried blowing on the laser? Sometimes small hairs will mess it up.

Q: Do fame bonuses decrease as difficulty increases?

Jonah BishopI'm trying to play through the Elite difficulty (something I have yet to successfully do), and I've noticed that my current character doesn't seem to earn Fame as quickly as characters on lower difficulties. For example, my character is currently level 15, and I'm pretty sure that I've only gaine...

FAE
@badp Hardcover or paperback?

@FAE Paperback
I think

FAE
@badp ...you're not sure? <_<

8:56 PM
Fairly certain, just doublechecking terminology
I wouldn't call the cover paper I mean

@DragonLord The G600 uses the finger wrest for your second-from-the-right finger (has no idea what the finger is called. Is too lazy to google)

FAE
@badp Ah gotcha. Also, how big is it? Like, dimensions?
@Wipqozn Ring finger?

@FAE Maybe. Yes.

@FAE 670 iPad sized pages

FAE
@badp Oh, I meant like, length by width. iPad-sized kinda helps.

8:58 PM
(I know, I know, that's an awful thing I've just done)

@FAE yeah I did.... it's a old mouse so I'm not too worred, another thing I need to replace at some point... (and I have a new mouse mat too to start using, larger slicksteel, but its carbon fiber (sexeh!!!)

FAE
@badp Your options partially depend on whether or not you're willing to crack the spine.

it's a BUSH mouse ffs, its made by a company I expect to make speakers or something.

FAE
@djsmiley2k Nice, I've never tried a carbon fiber surface.

@FAE Oh dear. I... don't plan on selling it, but I don't want to destroy it either

FAE
8:58 PM
@badp Cracking the spine doesn't bother some people (I hate it personally), so I wasn't sure how you felt about it.

Now if cracking the spine means that the spine gets kind of lines along the side - I don't care

FAE
@badp Like not rip it apart, but bend it back far enough so it hangs open by itself either.

@FAE Yeah, but it's a process you kind of have to repeat on a per-page basis

Anyone around with a Roccat mouse?

FAE
@badp Yeah, like opening it really really wide so it gets lines and falls open.
@badp What exactly are you doing? Just taking notes or...?

9:00 PM
@FAE Taking notes.. on a computer
so my hands are on the keyboard

FAE
@badp And you have a laptop, right? No separate keyboard?

I have a separate keyboard all right
My laptop is on life support

user15026
@badp If you don't crack the spine, it won't stay open. You can get little book holder things to hold it, too, that won't crack the spine

@badp What I've done before in these cases sometimes is actually set my keyboard on it. Like slide it under the back a little and rest the keyboard on it to hold it open.

@FAE the book either falls over the keyboard or is held at a really uncomfortable angle

That way you can look at it in front of you (instead of off to the side) and then easily up to the monitor.

...I could hold it against the laptop, however, which sits upside down right behind the keyboard
I kinda wish I had vine now so I could show off just how clumsy those last twenty second have been

FAE
haha

oh I know.

hmmm some pins in the celing, hang the book from the skies?

user15026
If I knew what your workspace looked like I could offer more options

9:07 PM
SUCCESS.
</sarcasm>

FAE
@badp Otherwise, I'd advise rigging up some weighted clips.

(Pardon the god-awful quality of the Nexus 7 front camera)
relocates monitor into original position, on the opposite side of the desk

release the cows!

FAE
@badp Seriously, do you have chip clips in Italy? Those clips that hold bags of chips closed?

oooo get some hdd magnets

user15026
9:15 PM
Considering the size of the book, I assume you want to have it upright? OR are you okay with it flat?

@FAE I probably do
just a second though. It seems like my little move-the-monitor stunt somehow broke the tv

FAE
@badp ...whoops

I've now unplugged the AC adapter from the wall plug. The unplugged AC adapter has been feeding current to the TV for five minutes now

FAE
@badp There seems to be a margin on those pages, so it wouldn't be covering any text if you used one of those. If it's not heavy enough to hold it open, try sticking some poster tack on the underside of the clip to weigh it down/stick it to the desk.

Other LOL players, if you queue for dominion, what's your average wait time?

9:20 PM
Okay, TV crisis averted
Actually now that I look at it I don't think I have an actual chip clip
I have something similar from an old webcam though

o_O

@FAE I was thinking of one of razer's mouse pads. They've got a wide one that's not too expensive

Yep, well, I did have it.
oh I know v2

FAE
@BenBrocka Nice. I refuse to use their hardware because I hate their software.
Not that that issue would exist with a mousepad though.

@FAE I love how they've "improved" the software, by completely discounting the most obvious solution.

9:25 PM
@AshleyNunn ebooks don't have these problems grrrr

user15026
@badp I know, right?

@FAE "Sign up for our cloud-based service so you can get the unlock code to the shipping band around your mousepad off"

i mean they do but holding my Nexus 7 upright in my battery slot is, like, a solved problem

FAE
@TimStone Cloud-based service that requires you to connect in order to use your macros at all. And also sends usage statistics about what programs you use.

9:27 PM
@FAE Yeah their software isn't a problem with trhe pad...is the software that bad?

user15026
@Ullallulloo Done

FAE
@BenBrocka See what Tim and I just stated.

@Wipqozn, I did enjoy it actually.

THIS is what I call a solved problem.
Also I inherited the corpses from the previous administration. nods

FAE
lol

9:37 PM
@FAE The usage statistics are exactly why they force you to go online with it in the first place.

FAE
@fbueckert Yeah, it's icky.

the original problem was they claimed it was an antipiracy function

@djsmiley2k That, too.
Antipiracy. For a physical piece of hardware.

if comapnies wanna track me, thats fine
but don't tell me its to save me from evil pirates.

FAE
@djsmiley2k Haha, seriously?

9:38 PM
hmm?

FAE
That they claimed antipiracy.

yes, seriously, they claimed you ha to be online as an antipiracy function
then someone went "errrr so why are you tracking what applications we are using~"

FAE
@djsmiley2k lol

"Oh yeah we need that too, thats ok right? tht we didn't tell you? yeah? all cool right?"

Q: Stuttering over time when watching videos/playing games

KasparI have some stuttering like every 7 minutes or so. It occurs while gaming and watching videos mostly( Thats when I can see it really). So I opened up my gnome-system-monitor and waited till it started again and the CPU graph showed me that CPU 1 went to 100% at that moment but the CPU 2 was stil ...

9:42 PM
@djsmiley2k "No, not all cool. Never buying your products again."

Guys
@Kyralessa "Spending time maintaining questions that are out of date seems like a more positive and worthwhile hobby than looking for questions to close. " QFT — EBongo 31 mins ago

@badp Yeah, I saw that.

Do I have to get angry on your behalf for these comments or will somebody else try and assist me?

Decided against replying to it, though someone dictating what is and isn't a worthwhile hobby for me somewhat irks me.

Because I really really really don't want to make it look like this is a one-man show where I am the evil moderator who's run mad with power

9:44 PM
@badp What you're saying is, "I don't want to be honest." =P

@Fluttershy I am giving you the sternest of my stink eyes.

badp your hobby sounds more fun than spending time finding problems with other peoples hobbys.

@Kyralessa I'm spending my time here voluntarily. No one has the right to tell me how to spend my time here, so long as it conforms to site policy. So don't dictate how I spend my time, alright? — fbueckert 9 secs ago

I can't even flag these comments as offensive or rude because if I did that I'd be the nazi moderator who destroys comments he doesn't like!

I take it that should should suffice, no?

9:46 PM
Hopefully

Anyways, I'm off to buy a case or two of chocolate bars and sundry snackage.

@EBongo I will not tolerate smear campaigns against users who donate their time towards the civic duty every 3,000 reputation user has of keeping the site clean of questions that need to be closed. Consider this your warning. — badp 10 secs ago

This discussion is getting a bit too heated for a single question
