I had a look through all of the options available to me, and I think I've worked out what all of them do

I did consider briefly adding all of the regulars with read/write access and then putting the room into gallery mode to stop everybody else from chatting

but I figured that's a surefire way to cause friction

You can pin and migrate away messages, edit room description, and change the people who can talk in here.

And that's about it I think

I used to work for a company that made HSMs. Their early models provided debug output by flashing an LED in morse code. Many support requests came along with a video of the flashing light.
