Decided to change the seal rubber from the trunk, but treating the rust first. I sanded the rust, even found some heavy rust on the same metal sheet which I broke and sanded as I could, and applied the rust converter
All good, except that I should have been careful to apply the rust converter precisely on the rust. I didn't think it would attack the paint so heavily. But I have a plan. The metal sheet where the paint was attacked is hidden under a plastic cover. I can paint the whole part with the black rust paint
I don't think it will look bad, and the main purpose will still be achieved (preventing the rust from spreading). But I learned the lesson, this rust converter is nasty
I'll finish it tomorrow and post pictures of the results. By the way, that is worse than I thought. If I sand it down it will open a hole on the sheet, it will need some welding :/
