@Snow the catch phrase "I hope you're well" reminds me of a dumb twitter account "I am recruitr" with good parody of recruiters hoping your well before going on to trying to hire developers
one of the reasons for wearing a suit to an interview is because it's human nature that first impressions matter. Why deprive yourself of that possible advantage?
nope hoodie + suit always makes you look like you don't understand the point of wearing a suit to an interview.
Wearing a suit to an interview is usually a good thing, and shows respect. You can always dress down a bit by just taking your tie off (after asking, naturally).
"Mind if I take my tie off? I'm feeling a bit overdressed like this."
@Snow I don't doubt it! I expect most of their shooting actually consists of standing around discussing golf with their buddies while having the shotgun cracked open across the cook of one elbow
I've yet to encounter someone I really agree with on the subject of politics - this didn't prevent me to collect and discuss viewpoints that aren't mine
I suspect OP portrait of the manager could be a bit of a caricature due to being in opposite beliefs
I may be a bit twisted but in such scenario I'd like to explore the manager's beliefs by asking questions and pretending I could agree, just so I learn a bit more where not to step
it's insightful to learn how to communicate efficiently
I'm not sure everybody can do that though, it requires to litteraly sit on your own beliefs
Friends - can I throw a salary at you too see if it's unreasonable? I live in the southwest of the United States. I have about 10 years of experience as a Software Engineer. I don't know if titles mean much, but I would call myself a Software Engineer III. Right now my base salary is around 85 k. Does that seem low to you?
@Ronnie Have you ever tried the salary tool on Linkedin? I don't know how accurate it is for your area but mine (Data Scientist London) it seems pretty accurate: linkedin.com/salary/…
