@RichardU I'm assuming positive intent here. I think some people don't like it when others edit their stuff and react negatively, the vibe I'm getting is that is the root of the OP's frustration and not just trolling

@enderland that seems to be a common thing with new users in hers (and especially SO)
Do you think there's a way we can head off that frustration?

somebody's trying to get a suspension I think.

@RichardU i've always found credit weird, i don't even own a credit card or anything of the sort

@enderland you really know know to make your time in life worth it. You spend your day editing strangers message board posts, I am going to go enjoy my day with my children and husband — Christeena 1 min ago

@RhysW I find them useful because if something goes wrong, the bank is on the hook, if someone gets into your bank account, you're done.

3:09 PM
lol

And, this is not a rant huh....@enderland @ChristopherEstep Hilarious

@enderland so much for good intentions.....

@RichardU Not everyone wants help...

what a cheap shot
wow
yea not evryone want help

morning guys

I think she is pissed about the cookies being gone.

Have you noticed that, when you reopen your explorer and reload The Watercooler, the last thing you wrote is like cached and appears ready to send in the text box?

You mean internet explorer? No. Because I never open IE. <shudder>

Exploring sounds so much more adventurous than browsing
Also, whatever happened to surfing?
I miss surfing the web
Now I just browse the internet

I remember Netscape Navigator.
I also remember ANSI, but that's a whole generation earlier...

I use Edge and Chrome
Edge is pretty fast...

3:17 PM
Crap

I mean any explorer you use, Chrome Firefox, Iceweasel, IE, Opera

MS had a chance to rewite IE
they didn't

@SnarkShark ANSI isn't a browser, it's a standards organization.
@GrayCygnus the term you're looking for is "browser" :)

@ChristopherEstep it's what BBSs were made of...

Edge is actually very usable. I was impressed with the highlighting feature, which is a service I've had to subscribe to elsewhere

So our 25th employee is an experienced compliance manager. They've been here 3 days now, and there just this look of slowly dawning horror on their face at the realisation of all the procedures and controls we don't currently have ^^

@ChristopherEstep yeah, my bad (thinking in spanish and still to early in the morning for me)

Some will crap on MS no matter what. Microsoft could cure cancer for free and some would find something to whinge about.

So, anyone have noticed that? Next time I will screenshot so you know what I mean

Kaz
@MisterSortofPositive Edge is pretty good.

@MisterSortofPositive not really with satya as CEO things are going to be good

3:26 PM
@MisterSortofPositive "Typical i bet they had the cure for years but decided not to use it so they could make mroe money"

I think that any pretense of good intentions on that poster was dispelled by her rage-quit

@RichardU Rage quit....OL

Alright everyone. have a good evening/day

You too, @Nofel. Take it easy

3:45 PM
@MisterSortofPositive seriously why did it take them so long! pfffft. hrrmph.

@MisterSortofPositive If Microsoft came up with a cure for cancer, and you dug deep enough, some other company came up with it first, and had it bogged down by MS's legal team until the other company cried uncle. THEN they'd release MS cancercure 3.1, which would be a miracle cure, but then would suddenly stop working, and the cure would need to be restarted
MS cancercure would also secretly query your body to see what other drugs were currently running through it.
While MS cancercure was working on you, all your daily tasks would take five times longer

You know if someone told me that spreadsheets would feature so prominently in my life, I'd have probably taken a radically different path

wow, @RichardU

@jserv as someone that makes a spreadsheets product, I'm not sure I can agree with that hahaha

@RichardU Pre Satya mabye :-P
Where are the damn emoji'S?

@enderland I'm just bitching. My dad is a paints houses and continually reminds me how lucky I am to have my cushy office job.

I make my own luck.
my new motto
don't recall where I got this except Harvey Dent

this is a great blog about luck: rootofgood.com/luck-making-machine

Luck is the residue of industriousness -Richard U

The motto I like is: Luck is when Preparation meets Opportunity

woah.. I missed a bit there!

Some people inherently get better "life luck" settings. but a lot of "luck" is what you do with those cards you get dealt

4:02 PM
what the heck was up with the rant-tastic moment in meta?

Meta SE is always rant-tastic
even more when you

another soft delicate snowflake passing though....

@enderland what would you say my life-luck settings are at, and who do I kick in the family jewels for dealing them to me?

@RichardU not your mom...

@RichardU Sorry, Rich, I think all of your stats were dumped into WIS and STA.

4:08 PM
@RichardU you can look at it two ways, either you've been incredibly unlucky to have gone through everything you did or you've been incredibly lucky to survive it all
:)

@MisterSortofPositive Alas poor snowflake, at least now we know why that evil company decided to <del>Slander her</del> warn any prospective employer about her.
@Jserv ROFLMAO!
@jserv not so sure about WIS, but def STA
hrm
Oddly enough, everything I've been through has blessed me with kindness and compassion. I want to do better so I can better help others.

@MisterSortofPositive haha... you smug git :)

@motosubatsu you'll notice that my refraining from snark, condescension and berating have garnered me only one vote.

@RichardU only goes to show that you should play to your strengths
:)

@motosubatsu Couldn't resist..... @SnarkShark isn't here to do it so I have too.

4:21 PM
you see I sneaked a bit of pretty pointed snark in here:

A: How to deal with under-performing coworker during leadership change

motosubatsuAs Killisi says in his answer there isn't much you can do prior to getting the supervisor position. But you can't do anything untill you make the most important decision - whether you think the junior can be "salvaged". Given what you say about his being technically competent and how the previous...

and yet only garnered 3 votes... I must have much to learn about the Way of The Snark
:D

I do too
4 now
I smell a HNQ
And I cause a bit of trouble...

4:38 PM
@motosubatsu I must teach you in the ways of "Snark_Fu"
Phrases like "I would burn it, and use the ashes to fertilize the local poison ivy" go very far.
The "cluster snark bomb" is very effective as well

Q: Add link to timeline view

David KThe question "Add a link to the timeline of a post" was asked in 2012, and the status was initially declined. Since then the timeline feature has evolved and become more useful, and 2015 the status was changed to deferred. Can we revisit this and get a permanent link to the timeline on every pos...

Good luck with that @DavidK
I am starting to think that is is wiser to ask questions with the or before asking for a ... that way you can sense if it is something they may be willing to do.
If you just feature request them, it is likely your post may be received with negative votes/comments
Maybe they think "Gosh, these guys asking us to do more work, and they don't even discuss before if it is worth the shot"
However I see your writing is good, and has good references, so you have better chances :)

@GrayCygnus Thanks! And yes, the fact that it was once proposed and marked makes me think there's at least a chance they will look into it.

Ugh! Does anyone know why the .find function in Excel won't work on a hidden column when lookin is set to xlformulas?

No Richard, that escapes me

@GrayCygnus everything I read said that it should work

Q: Range.Find fails on ranges that are both hidden AND part of a filter

NickolasI'm experiencing a peculiar problem in Excel 2003 where the Range.Find method fails when searching for a value in a cell that is both hidden and part of a filtered range. To be clear, this is the method call in question: Cells.Find(SearchString, LookIn:=xlFormulas, LookAt:=xlWhole) If the ce...

possibly helpful I hope... ^
another really old similar post stackoverflow.com/questions/6297624/…
and this forum where they discuss what you are asking mrexcel.com/forum/excel-questions/…

@GrayCygnus THAT'S IT!!!!!!! Thanks!

:D good thing, no problem @RichardU

@Lilienthal For what its worth, nice job! — Mister Sort of Positive 11 mins ago
@MisterSortofPositive FYI I've removed this as I'm not sure what to make of it and it doesn't seem to really fall under the umbrella of "what comments are for". You could also have pinged me from the newly created chatroom.

7:00 PM
@Lilienthal Good point. That chat room did not seem to have any positive place to go.
And @Lilienthal there some interesting situations / edge case comments being brought to light. All will say is WOW.
Adios amigos, again @Lilienthal nice job herding the kittens!

Adios @MisterSortofPositive espero tengas un feliz dia ;)

The top-voted question on the site "has not received enough attention"... ???

11:55 PM
whoa, I see what you mean
bounty offered by this user
Probably wanted to give bounty for the "exemplary answer worth giving a bounty" reason and not "hasn't received enough attention"
@Fattie could you care explaining?
(do all mentions on chats are notified to users?)

I am the only one who considers that question our badge of shame? Most of the other top-voted questions are reasonable.

It is not that bad question, but yes people here I have noted don't really like that question
