Hm, someone voted to close hardwarerecs.stackexchange.com/q/126/1 as unclear, is there anything I need to add?

Q: Keyboard for programmers?

UndoI'd like to invest in a new keyboard - I've been typing on a MacBook Pro keyboard forever and, while I love it, it's time for something new and slightly more ergonomic. Requirements: Must play nice with my 2012 MacBook Pro Must not slide around too easily, that's my pet peeve with keyboards M...

holy crap I'm writing a book for an answer

@enderland I have a feeling this is going to be a common thing for this site.
@Cfinley I hope so.

A: VR headset as huge resolution monitor?

enderland but I still want more desktop space Having worked extensively with virtual reality, I will say without any reservation - this really isn't a good idea. Is there a head-tracking VR headset (either augmented reality or such that a keyboard can still be seen/used while wearing) that could ...

that probably meets your criteria :P
@enderland Good enough :P

Q: >2 TB 2.5 inch HDD

JamesI've searched and searched and can only find one 2.5 inch HDD that is larger than 1TB (Western Digital has one model). 3.5 inch HDDs have kept growing to even 10TB, but 2.5 inch drives seem to have hit a brick wall. Are there any 2.5 inch HDDs larger than 2TB?

15:50
aww @ArtOfCode you answerd the same thing I did :( I had edited but forgotten to undelete my answer :P
@enderland Which one's that?

A: >2 TB 2.5 inch HDD

enderlandYes, there are. Toshiba has a 3TB drive they announced in January 2015. The model is: MQ03ABB300 "Utilizing perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) technology, the MQ03ABB300 is the industry’s first 2.5-inch HDD to achieve 750GB per platter, using a total of 4 platters to achieve storage of 3...

I'm getting a fair number of answers out, so chances are high I do that a lot
If you're closing as off-topic, please use a custom reason and explain why while we form up our scope.

@Cfinley A WASD is basically the same as a CODE. One's based off another
ON that note, I got a new keyboard today
Ergonomic keyboard, which is kinda nice
15:58
@ArtOfCode I cannot imagine using a non-ergo keyboard again
I picked up one of the solar logitech keyboards - chiclet style, so low travel (which I prefer) and I cannot explain how nice it is not to have to worry about batteries
@enderland Well it's only being used on my laptop, so I'll still be using the laptop keyboard when I take it places.

@ArtOfCode Right. Jeff Atwood actually worked with WASDKeyboards to create the CODE Keyboard. There are differences between the two. The code is back-lit, making it harder to customize and replace the key-caps.
Tell me, is that exactly the same layout as everyone else? My laptop keyboard has a few of the symbols switched around, and I don't know which is right.
@Cfinley As long as you use CODE caps, or just the caps it came with, you're fine
@ArtOfCode I thought it was enough of a difference for a new answer. If it is too similar your answer, I will remove it.
16:03
@Cfinley Oh no, don't do that. Just observing facts - it's perfectly valid and actually useful to have both there.
16:27
@ArtOfCode - you just popped 500 rep :)
@AdamC That's been my aim. Now I have editing privs, finally. Now to fix all the mistakes.
And all the suggested edits
I need the weekend to come - I can't give enough time to decent answers until I get out of work
So glad I'm still in school. Plenty of time to dedicate to sites here.
I have a router that (in theory) will do close to 1Gb throughput with stock firmware but lack of HW acceleration in DD-WRT means it tops out at ~350Mb. For now my ISP can only get me 240Mb, so not a concern....yet
If I do eventually get 1Gb fibre I might have to go back to building my own firewall/router again - have not done that for years
I think that the main way to gain rep on this site is going to be spamming answers, rather than quality answers (or questions)... that won't be a good sign at all
16:38
might start that way a little, but the quality eventually wins out, as long as there is some of course :)
only 13 answers are above +5 right now, and on a private beta... that's not very good sign
how do you see answers sorted by votes? (assuming that's what you are looking at)

Q: How long does it take to open public beta?

belfordHow much time do we have before it launches to the public?

17:46
@enderland - thanks, for some reason I couldn't figure that out :/

A: How long does it take to open public beta?

UndoUsually one week, but if we don't have the site's scope down by then, I would be tempted to request another week in private beta. We don't want to let the whole world in if we don't know what's on-topic and what isn't.
