@StephenKitt Yeah but I would figure they would at least pose the question "is there a difference between these two commands?" rather than implying they are/should be identical
@jesse_b they might not even realise there’s anything to compare; they might “know” that you use $(()) with printf, and expr when you want to calculate a variable for a value
many, many users don’t understand how general many shell concepts are, they learnt them in specific contexts and only reason about them in those contexts
Heh, they do call him "king of the stones" (atlas stones) but I don't really like that. He is the best at any event that requires both speed and strength
