Prabhjot Singh
10:40 PM
@FaheemMitha Talk to you later, some problem with enp1s.
Faheem Mitha
@PrabhjotSingh You're still awake? What is enp1s?
My US friend replied, I was just writing to him.
Prabhjot Singh
@FaheemMitha This sometimes happen. Networking on computer is not working.
Faheem Mitha
@PrabhjotSingh Ok, but what is enp1s? And what OS are you running? Is it your internet line?
Jesse_b
I think it's a NIC identifier
probably ubuntu
Prabhjot Singh
@FaheemMitha yes, Fedora. Wired connection.
Jesse_b
10:44 PM
fedora!
nice
That's right I remember you use fedora now
Faheem Mitha
@PrabhjotSingh Oh, that's a nick? An odd way to refer to it. Like an aquaintance.
Prabhjot Singh
Never used Ubuntu.
Faheem Mitha
enp1s is having problems with his girlfriend.
Don't see why networking software would stop working. Probably the internet line went down.
That's why I have two.
Jesse_b
@FaheemMitha two internet lines? What are you a rockafeller?
Faheem Mitha
@Jesse_b It's not that expensive here.
Prabhjot Singh
10:47 PM
@FaheemMitha i wound up her at 11.40.
Faheem Mitha
@PrabhjotSingh Huh?
Prabhjot Singh
@FaheemMitha line is not down.
Fabby
@Jesse_b I work from home, so I have an Internet line and a hotspot as backup.
Prabhjot Singh
@FaheemMitha gf
Fabby
(Only used it twice in 3 years)
Faheem Mitha
10:48 PM
@PrabhjotSingh Oh. Well, it makes no sense that the software is misbehaving.
Jesse_b
@Fabby I can turn my phone into a hotspot
Faheem Mitha
@PrabhjotSingh Oh, you mean you were talking to your gf?
I mean, it would make sense if you were using Windows, because Windows is evil and cursed.
Fabby
@Jesse_b Yup, same here... That's easier than 2 internet lines @FaheemMitha
Prabhjot Singh
@FaheemMitha No, Just friends.
Faheem Mitha
@Fabby Well, wireless internet here is very slow and unreliable. So no.
Fabby
10:50 PM
@FaheemMitha Ah...
Faheem Mitha
2 lines works well.
A little expensive, but not a big deal. Like I said, it's relatively cheap here. But I think we already covered that once.
Fabby
@FaheemMitha Do you use network bondig?
Prabhjot Singh
@FaheemMitha ihave a fallback mobile internet. BSNL
Faheem Mitha
My guest room also has 2 lines.
@Fabby I don't know what that is. So no.
You mean for the two lines?
@PrabhjotSingh Ugh. I hate MTNL. I expect BSNL is more of the same.
Fabby
@FaheemMitha I'm coming over and I'm bringing lots of Italian, German and Belgian goodies!
Faheem Mitha
10:51 PM
@Fabby Unlikely, but you're certainly welcome. Do you want my address?
Fabby
@FaheemMitha Yup. if they're Ethernet, you can combine both physical into one virtual adapter.
if both of them are up: double the speed, if one goes down: you won't notice.
Faheem Mitha
@Fabby Interesting. Why would one want to do that?
@Fabby Double the speed? Really? Is this a hardware thing?
Fabby
@FaheemMitha Wel, if both lines are the same speed: yes: double the speed
Faheem Mitha
Though really, they're already fast enough. And no, they're not the same speed.
Prabhjot Singh
@FaheemMitha Computer internet isn't working. So i am using it. I don't rely on mobile internet. But sometimes i have to use.
Faheem Mitha
10:53 PM
@PrabhjotSingh I thought you just said it was fine. I'm confused.
Prabhjot Singh
@FaheemMitha what is fine ?
Faheem Mitha
@PrabhjotSingh That your internet line was working.
Jesse_b
Who is on first?
Faheem Mitha
@Jesse_b Who are you talking to, and about what?
Prabhjot Singh
@FaheemMitha internet line is working. No problem with that but there is some problem is systemd, imo.
Faheem Mitha
10:56 PM
@PrabhjotSingh That's weird. Why?
Jesse_b
@FaheemMitha This conversation is starting to remind me of:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Who%27s_on_First%3F
Faheem Mitha
But you're in the right place to do something about it. This is the U&L chatroom, though we often lose sight of that.
@Jesse_b Which part?
Jesse_b
all of it
Faheem Mitha
Oh.
Well, I do try to communicate. But it doesn't always work out.
Prabhjot Singh
@Jesse_b what is G'day mate ?
Jesse_b
11:00 PM
@PrabhjotSingh Australian greeting
Faheem Mitha
Popularized by such luminaries as Crocodile Dundee.
@PrabhjotSingh You should watch the film. It's very lightweight but quite entertaining.
At least for non-Australians.
Jesse_b
australians are fairly widely stereotyped
Faheem Mitha
@Jesse_b Like other peoples.
Prabhjot Singh
@FaheemMitha I will watch this.
Faheem Mitha
@PrabhjotSingh Don't go out of your way. But seriously, you're in the right place if you have Linux problems. Though 4.30 am probably isn't a good time.
Prabhjot Singh
11:03 PM
@Jesse_b you often go to Australia. I remember you had MRSA once in Australia.
Jesse_b
@PrabhjotSingh I've only been once for about a month
Prabhjot Singh
Australian angrezi is very hard to understand.
Faheem Mitha
@Jesse_b And got MRSA while you were there? That was unlucky.
Prabhjot Singh
He poked a finger in kangaroo 's pouch.
Jesse_b
@FaheemMitha They guessed it was MRSA, I don't think they ever officially diagnosed it
I was on IV antibiotics for a week and then cut the wound open to drain the puss
Faheem Mitha
11:08 PM
@Jesse_b Oh. But not an ideal fun Australian visit.
I doubt Paul Hogan would include it in one of his commercials.
Jesse_b
I still had fun
Prabhjot Singh
I am off now. Adios.
Jesse_b
Good night (or day) @PrabhjotSingh
Faheem Mitha
11:24 PM
Talk to you later, @PrabhjotSingh
Kasrâmvd
@terdon Yeah, that might be the source of the confusion. Didn't look at it that way.
