I'm glad @200_success is running for moderator but now things get more complicated. I had a "dream team" in mind, but now that's no longer possible as long as there's only 4 spots to fill.
I would like to go on the record as saying that I know people will be disappointed in this election, there are many more great candidates than positions available, and I can't see how this can keep everyone happy.
I would also like to go on record as saying that I have been assured that the new crop of mods will be in regular communication with the SE staff, and at some point, in the "next while" when things settle in to a routine after the elections, that there will be discussion about whether 4 mods is enough. This is an issue that has been hotly debated between us current mods and the staff, and the last official word was basically we'll re-evaluate later.
If there is a 5th position created later (or sooner), then it will likely be done in a way similar to other sites soon after an election - the "runners up" will possibly be "called up".
It leaves a bunch of uncertainty, but the point is, in an SE election, and with moderators in general, "things change", and recent elections are often consulted when mods resign, or need more..... ;-)
@Mat'sMug @Pops I'm rather miffed that my recommendation for there to be five moderator positions was not accepted. There is enough work for five people, and more than enough talent.
