This is a new user and your comment probably is only going to confuse him/her. I agree the answer is not very good, but it isn't a critique or asking clarification. It doesn't seem like there is an issue of reputation.

@StrongBad I did not write that comment and I think it is produced automatically. First I opened your chat message and the linked comment, I wondered to see that comment in front of my username... I thought somebody else had written it but then I thought it is produced automatically when I voted to delete that answer.

@user1938107 I'm not aware of any such rule. Maybe at certain universities or in certain departments, but in most cases it is allowed to talk about politics in class, as far as I know. But in technical subjects, at least, most professors wouldn't do so simply because their political beliefs have no impact on the material being taught

@user1938107 I don't know of any rule either. That being said, it's probably inappropriate to talk about politics in certain subjects. Politics can and do come up in, for example, political science and other humanities, as well as in ethics courses in the hard sciences. If the professor is using his position to tell you to vote for Mayor West in the next Quahog election, however, that's inappropriate.

Not sure if this matters, but I asked a question recently. I intentionally omitted the source that I read in order to not 'expose' the professor in question. There are now 2 comments which include sources that contain the professor's last name. Can/should they be removed? If they shouldn't be removed, I'll just add the source to my question. I was trying to protect the privacy of the professor.
