Hi all, has anyone had experience with submitting papers and getting a "revise and resubmit" response? I have a question pertaining to that.

Well, I got a revise and resubmit response for my paper submission, but I also was given a deadline for the resubmission and the editor said that he believes the paper could be ready for publication if I revise the paper according to the reviewers instructions. I'm just worried that I won't get published. :/

Q: How do I express my disapproval of a marking boycott without damaging relationship with academics?

lumostarSo as people have probably seen by now, the UK is stuck in a marking boycott, which has started to directly affect myself as a final year student. I have not personally been affected too much yet, but have had one module's continuous assessment removed with no suggestion of replacement. I am ve...

This was edited to remove the "rant", but I think the rant was relatively neutral and critical for understanding the disapproval and hence answering the questions. Anyone else think a rollback is in order?
@StrongBad I think it's better without the rant. The rant didn't clarify the question at all; I don't think it added any useful information. And I love your answer.
@EnergyNumbers but my answer doesn't answer the edited question.
and look at the comment @Compass just left. The edit has screwed up the question.

@StrongBad Ah yes, the "their" is left there having being orphaned from the thing it refers to, the UCU.

I'm on the fence. The OP's rant portion shows how he is interpreting the strike. If it were a general question about "How do strikes impact students?" then the noise would be extraneous, but in this case, how he feels about the strike is the reason why he brought up the question, and addressing his issues with it is a relevant point, IMHO.
@Compass So maybe put it back, but in a less ranting type of way.
@StrongBad Yes, the "Not what you say, how you say" method. I think I know how to remove the noise without impacting the author's intent.
@Compass go for it.
17:13
@StrongBad I've made the changes using the Mr. Rogers principle.
It looks good, why did you remove the link? We had an earlier comment asking for more info on the boycott.
@Compass see above ...
@StrongBad I accidentally took it out when I copy-pasted the original text back in to edit box using the compare markup. Please add it back in.

I am concerned that if I provide a list of reasons that I believe academic presentations are different then industry presentations and private presentations that people will be inclined to provide a big list answer of how their favourite piece of software meets most of those requirements.
What I want to know is if you can use a class of software in academia. Someone telling me they do their church group presentations or their company progress reports would give me no confidence that I can teach from them.
Is there really any question that lectures are different from industry presentations?
19:54
In some ways they are different, and in other ways they are not different. I don't think you need a comprehensive list of reasons, but you do need to explain the relevance and specificity of the question to academia.
In other words, be convincing that you think the use of HTML5 relates to one or more of the ways that academic presentations are different
