@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ It is she
I thought they were he and made a sex-related joke, and now she calls me a boor
Dobry den, @V.V.
Morning all!

2 hours later…
09:58
@CowperKettle Oh
Eh, it sometimes slips, the gender assumption on the net
I'm usually pretty careful
shrug
@V.V. Mor . . . afternoon

5 hours later…
14:58
The use of a handle with "captain" probably triggers more deeply ingrained gender assumptions. Very hard to train oneself out of.
15:08
I was a Carol Danvers Captain Marvel fan before Brie Larson ruined it for me, so I don’t associate Captain with “male”. Ship captains, military captains.. there’s no feminized variation that I can think of like master/mistress. It might be worth trying to consciously undo that misperception.
Oh, female starship captains in Star Trek as well, although Janeway wasn’t my favorite

2 hours later…
16:57
Absolutely, it's something we need to consciously work against.

2 hours later…
19:12
@ColleenV Oh, why?
Why did Larson ruin Captain Marvel?
I'm asking because I haven't watched the movie yet
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ she turned it political
Political?
I don’t support her crazy version of feminism where a guy asking for your number is assault
She does that in the movie?
probably but also on the press junkets to promote it
19:15
Or is it after-the-fact commentary of the movie?
She’s said some pretty awful things about men
Well, I would probably try my best to ignore those parts then
Beforehand she said her movie wasn’t made for white men
So if you’re not Caucasian it’s all good lol
There was a bunch of controversy
I'm grey
I went to see Alita battle angel instead
19:17
Gawd when is the west going to stop debates like this? eye roll
@ColleenV The big eyes made her both cute and creepy at the same time; I expect I'd get used to them by minute 45 if I watch it
As soon as we experience real hardships so we don’t have to invent them?
Eh, how bad can it be . . . I got used to the turtles' faces by the end of the movie
@ColleenV Oh, now I see Trump as an altruistic crusader
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ I enjoyed it. It had a nice story about good and evil and standard nag up for what is right without peaching
The fight scenes were really well done
Trying to create those hardships with the most fun you can have. It's almost a good TV show
That’s my jam, fight choreography
19:20
I lost track, what is he up to now?
@ColleenV Ooh then I bet you enjoyed the last two Captain America movies
They were ok
I really liked the first Kingsmen
Yeah that one was good too
Creed is also really good. And Black Puma . . . erm, Panther
And the Ong Baks
What are the differences if they both meow
panther was Ok
19:22
Speaking of movies, I rewatched Snowpiercer today
Oh that’s a good one
Sticks with you
Masterpiece
I thought about it a lot after I finished it
Hmm, we mostly meet eye to eye regarding movie taste
Not much into Rom-coms are you? :)
19:23
Hence the "mostly"
I don't know what can be called rom-com anymore
Star Wars or Star Trek?
But I liked Adventureland, if that counts
@ColleenV Little bit of both, mostly Trek
True the “comedy” parts have gotten bad
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ check
Hmmm Firefly or Killjoys?
I didn’t see Adventureland
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Your thoughts on Memento?
@ColleenV Sometimes Nolan becomes too much of a naturalist for my taste but 9/10, generally
BBL dinner
19:48
@ColleenV I watched the Ong Bak movies too. Pretty good.
20:04
@Jasper I loved the scene where he was fighting in and around the elephant
Tony Jaa is so talented
