no matter how you use English, it's OK. People who can't relate to you, can't communicate with you, or can't understand your concerns are irrelevant people.
09:35
@CaptainBohemian Except when they're your boss...
@SamBC that's not related to boss. @userr2684291 said some time ago saying "irrelevant people" is incorrect because irrelevant can't describe people, but now I find on web there is indeed the term "irrelevant people".
I think Dictionary doesn't say irrelevant can't describe people.
10:17
No, I meant in that particular context in which you used it. In fact, there was a lack of context so I assumed that by irrelevant people you really meant "unrelated people".
> irrelevant people can only exchange material; that's what business people are preoccupied with, and the concrete jungle is full of this kind of people.
This is said with no prior context.
So I assumed that you meant "unrelated", as in to you, or to one another in some way.
And that's not how irrelevant is normally used. It could mean in your example something akin to "unimportant", but I really wonder if that was the intended meaning.
Like, what does importance have to do with the kinds of things people do. I'm pretty sure some business people are more important than you and I are.
10:33
Guys, hey
But anyway, every time you talk it seems like you live in a different world. That's what happens when you think too much and not-think too little, heh.
@Luyw Hello.
"Undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in degree seeking programs may apply." could any of you please tell me what is meant by "degree seeking programs"?
does it mean a program that ends with me getting a degree?
Yeah, it looks that way.
Alright, thanks!
> If you opt to take classes on a non-degree basis, you generally will not receive any credit for those courses. The only exception is for students who take courses for credit on another campus. Some schools will also allow students to pay for the cost of non-degree classes they took later and receive credit.
Looks like some weird arrangement.
So if you're just a "normal" student, you're a degree-seeking one.
11:36
@userr2684291 Some programs have requirements you must meet before you can "seek a degree" in them.
@userr2684291 I think whether a person is important is not an objective concept. A person can only be important to some people on earth. It's impossible that a person is important for everyone on earth. If I don't know a person at all and what (s)he does is not my concern nor is (s)he interested in my concerns nor does (s)he have interest in understanding my concerns, (s)he is just irrelevant person to me. But (s)he may be a relevant person to someobody on earth.
I wasn't an engineering student until I had completed a year and a half of classes, had a certain grade point average, and applied. I assume they allow "non-degree-seeking" students to take some engineering classes, but they don't count toward their graduation credits.
@userr2684291 but exchanging material can be practiced between any people, whether they are relevant to each other. A business person selling cakes can always sell me a cake though (s)he isn't concerned about my concern nor am I concerned about his/her concern. (S)he isn't even concerned whether I like to eat that cake or why I want to buy that cake.
Good donzerly day everyone
@userr2684291 (S)he actually is not concerned who buy her/his cakes; (s)he just wants to sell cakes. So (s)he is an irrelevant person to each customer who buys her/his cake.

Hello @CaptainBohemian welcome back to this room.
12:15
@CaptainBohemian I was just making a flippant response to the actual text, no comment on grammar :)
12:30
@CaptainBohemian That sounds like a very myopic perspective.
But I see where you're coming from.

7 hours later…

@userr2684291 IKR
He really needs to cheer up
Even if he has to do it in a concrete jungle with an evil landlady and no warm shower
I sometimes need to remind myself that there is ALWAYS someone in the world who has it worse than me and yet is living a happier life.
